I so agree with the actors. They held to their beliefs or to their characters or to what they knew was best for their audiences, in the case of The Rock. I say, good for them. Their decisions were the right ones. I am especially glad that actresses now have the power to say no to topless scenes.

I have imagined an added ending scene in the Shawshank Redemption prior to Red meeting Andy on the beach: I picture Red walking into a small Mexican cantina and restaurant in Zihuatanejo, modest suitcase in hand, inquiring about an "Americano by the name of Mr. Stevens". The waitress (who owns the establishment with her husband) at first reacts guarded and suspicious. When she asks "why" Red states who he is. The woman then excitedly calls for her husband in Spanish and tells him that this is "Andy's friend, Red, from Shawshank prison". Red is then told by the husband "Andy told us to expect you some day. Please, have a meal on us. You are our most honored guest! When you finish you will find your friend a short walk down the beach working on his boat". Red, floored by the hospitality, enjoys his meal, basking in what freedom actually means, and then goes to find Andy on the beach. The entire scene would have taken less than eight minutes but would have been so satisfying. And this would have worked much better than having "Red" play the harmonica. That would have been cheesy.

About the nude and sex scenes there are actors who put that clause in their contracts (like Lena Headey - Game of Thrones Cercei) so there is no problem but I suppose some of them fear that if they did they wouldn't get the job which is probably the case. In my opinion actors should be protected like the other workers so they shouldn't be obligated to feel uncomfortable on the job and the law should always protect people dignity even if they themselves don't care about it and frankly it's not necessary to watch people having sex movies and tv shows have made us all voyeurs.
Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager, refused to a love scene in which she is semi-nude (or so I heard) because she took her role as a role model for girls seriously. Far too many modern tv shows and films show explicit sex so graphically it's uncomfortable.
The Rock definitely picked up his "sending moviegoers home happy" from Wrestlemania. That was former WWE owner Vince McMahon wanting to send fans home happy.

Nude love scenes are superfluous soft porn anyway. They serve no dramatic purpose, and are inserted only for cheap titillation. Producers that think it is necessary probably have personal issues themselves.
Seriously, the end of the 20th century and they can't devise simpler ways to induce tears in an actor? There must be numerous chemical methods that are much better than resorting to emotional and psychological abuse. Anyway, what kind of an actor has not learned to induce tears on cue?
If an actor takes a role which has nudity ALREADY IN THE DAMN SCRIPT and then they refuse when that scene comes up to be shot had better have the most solid, irrefutable excuse for themselves, otherwise they should be sent to prison for fraud, pay damages to production company, and get black-listed by the industry. It's just the opposite, they have no principles. They read the script in advance, knowing there would be nude scenes, and accept the role only to later decide they didn't want to. I would respect them for not taking the role because of their principles.
An actor/actress should know what dangers and what level of nudity is involved. If they take the job and don't do it, they should be held to breach of contract and required to pay for filming expenses to recast the part and rerecord filming to that point. It is BS to change their minds later and hold the studios hostage.
All of these nude scenes are really unwarranted but the directors get to peek at beautiful women and use the movie as the excuse. It's not really needed.

Most of these modern instances should have been explicitly worked out in the contract before filming even started. These are often $100 million+ productions so there should be no last minute shenanigans from either side.
