Dr. Lustig is my hero. I read his book Fat Chance at age 70 and went on to lose 60 lbs of beer belly - despite never having consumed beer for over thirty years. I went from "starving to death" at all hours of day and night to feeling full and satiated after every meal. I eliminated all sugar, to the best of my understanding, but a year later better understanding kicked in, and I discovered even more high fructose corn syrup hidden away in the foods I was eating. They are being replaced in my daily meal plan even as I speak.
I may never fully understand the long names and the interactions of the chemicals and processes that turn our food into poison, but I am convinced the good Doctor and those like him are on the right track for creating a healthier way of life by teaching people about Real Food. I may never fully comprehend all the science of how to "Protect the Liver and Feed the Gut" but that is OK, because I'm not going to let perfection stand in the way of my progress.

I gave up sugar, I thought, but then I hit a bump in the road and stopped losing weight. So I re-read the labels on some favorite items, and two contained High Fructose Corn Syrup: Ketchup and Grape Jam, both part of my daily healthy breakfast. They were both poison, and I was eating their poison every day. Disheartened, but not defeated, I quickly substituted home-made ketchup and home-recipe blueberry jam, eliminating their ultra-processed poison and replacing it with Real Food [I hoped].

This is fundamental information - I'm glad it's here where I can refer back to it and share it with others. The part around the discussion of "nerves like to be tickled, not bludgeoned" ought to be taught to kids in school, repeatedly over a number of years. This is the kind of information people need, to help them make better decisions about drug use for instance. 35:47

I started my reducing weight by first reducing over processed foods followed by having no snacks and finally time restricted eating over two years. The weight loss was a pound over two or three weeks allowing the habits to form. It is important to eat enough at a meal to feel full preventing the hunger two hours later.

This lady tries but she's clueless. I didn't like when she interrupted Lustig because she wanted to start talking. But she doesn't know as much on a deeper level. Lustig is brilliant and explains thoroughly so the rest of us can understand. Bravo 👏

The best way to end sugar cravings for good is the carnivore diet. Meat heals.
