I think this might be a representation of trauma or mental issues. in the next scene right after he smokes the dollar bill, he spazzes out and loses his hair. this leads me to believe that whatever was in the bill must have been something dangerous. when the hole in mannys head appears, the stitches it forms might be him trying to hide his addiction from others. and lastly, him bursting into flames represents him dying from an overdose. this probably makes no sense, but I wrote this at like 1 am so eh.
Really freaky. I saw the message that money/the desire for money is like a destructive parasite that ravishes it's host until they self destruct. Then it moves on to the next, because it's eternal.

While it has the same style and pays homage to Crooked Rot, this ultimately feels different from Crooked Rot because Manny has a clear message about madness, addiction and greed, which isn't hard to spot. Crooked Rot doesn't have much of a plot or story as it's super experimental and it's just sort of random for randomness' sake. Also, Manny is legitimately scary and disturbing, while Crooked Rot feels super unsettling and unnerving but isn't as dark as this. Final verdict: Crooked Rot - Something feels off but in the end not all that scary, just weird. Manny - Actually terrifying and has an equally scary message.

It ain't just demented stop motion that does that. Really any time you've got a short little indie film with a pronounced visual style that dominates any form of traditional narrative what you are discussing happens; and not only that, it all predates "Internet Art Hipsters."
