I'm not a Knicks fan by any means (see my profile pic) but I still have my Jeremy Lin jersey. The closest thing I can compare Linsanity to was when Tim Tebow was starting in Denver and I dont even think that counts because Tebow was big in college

That’s actually not a bad comp if you just look at their pro careers!

Carmelo ruined what could have been a great career for Jeremy Lin. I really wish he had not gotten injured right before the playoffs, feel like he could have balled out and the Knicks would have been forced to keep him. But he got him booted out to Houston cause of Carmelo who got jealous that the team was better running through Lin instead of him. Then Jeremy had the misfortune of getting James Harden as a teammate and never got a chance to show how good he was.
That OKC trade killed the OKC dynasty and killed Jeremy Lin's career. Carmelo's ego ruined this man's career. So sad cause when Linsanity was happening all my friends were so hyped (we all East Asian) cause we finally had a dude who was making our whole region proud for something athletically. Like we finally had someone who wasn't some joke "Yellow Mamba" who never got playing time, an actual dude who was balling out but also super humble and practiced what he preached in his personal life. AND he was super cool, was on Kevjumba and Nigahiga's videos.
Looking at his career, it's so sad how racial biases hurt him so bad. He balled out in HS and got his team the state title and wasn't even offered an athletic scholarship anywhere. Balled out in college and graduated from HARVARD with a degree and good GPA and no team wanted him. I just don't get that, dude went to the most elite school in the world, was balling in college, involved in multiple orgs and was a leader in all of them, and had a good GPA. Teams always complain about rookies and new players not having emotional maturity and not working hard- my dude was on a silver platter for basically any team in the league and all 30 teams passed on him.
Feel bad for him, hope he gets one more chance. This dude would definitely be a great 6th man and it would boost any team's sales cause of his worldwide popularity. Wanted the Dubs to get him last season and hoping he finds his way back there somehow!

Jeremy had a big influence in both Knicks 2012 & Hornets 2016. In both cases, both teams had 8 out of 10 years without a post-season before Jeremy came along. And after he left both teams, they both had a drought of 6-7 years of no post-seasons straight, once again. Sure, the Knicks had a good season the next year after Linsanity, but that happened because they were still riding high on Linsanity, & then that was about it. It would not be until 2020, 7 years later, that the Knicks had playoffs again. If anything, Jeremy's mission in NY 2012 was to bring them back up to 0.500 so they could have a post-season at all. That was partly why Linsanity was huge, because the Knicks fans had been starving to death a lot for a decade prior. And in Charlotte, with Jeremy in the 2016 playoffs, he was able to give the Hornets 7 games against Miami, so a series loss of 3-4. In 2 prior seasons that the Hornets had playoffs, long before Lin, their losses both times were only 0-4. To this day, the Hornets have not had a playoff year since Jeremy was there. I would say what went wrong with that NY Linsanity team was the big rumor of the negative influence of Melo, which includes D'Antoni quitting because of Melo's ultimatums. Then Jeremy got injured & then Dolan got trapped by the Rockets' poison pill, despite Dolan jokingly stating that he would pay a billion dollars to keep Jeremy. Dolan got cold feet & did not keep that promise, even if it was just a joke. Despite the looks of what seems like chaos, I think all of this was meant to be. And what happened to Lin getting put into the G-League in 2020 was awful. Which idiots would place a 10-year veteran in the minor league? And it wasn't just any veteran, but one who became a global sensation. These days, Jeremy is putting up 35, 38 & 50-point high games playing pro in Taiwan, his parents' home nation.

I still think Lin can play very well in the NBA. Golden State, Dallas, the Clippers, I'm hoping they consider him.
