  • In this video, I finish off the annual maintenance for our Husqvarna Zero-Turn Lawnmowers. I demonstrate how to change the oil and oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, blades, and spark plugs. I also grease all the grease fittings, and check tire pressure. This is annual maintenance completed in the spring, and after this the machines are all ready to go!
NOTE: Always check your manual for part numbers, oil type, etc. before doing this type of work.
The mowers I am servicing are both Husqvarna, and one is a Z254, while the other is a Z248F.

FYI: Open/loosen oil fill cap when draining oil for faster complete emptying of old oil.

Something I thought I would mention of what I do. When I am heating up the mower to remove the oil I will turn the fuel line off to the mower when I am done heating up and most of that gas you lost in the plastic from filter is most times used up. I will admit I do have one mower that seems to only drain the bowl and filter is still mostly full. I don't know if that was meant to be that way or if it just has the filter lower. Looking at yours I would try the off fuel and let it run out of gas and see if it also pulls the fuel from filter. Great video.

another annual thing you should do is clean the under part of the deck so that moisture from the grass build up dont rot that deck.great videos.whats the torque spec for the blade bolt?

Great tip! I missed that. Might have a new updated video coming on this stuff. The torque spec on this is 45-60lbs/ft.

Remove the dip stick tube and the oil will drain more quickly ..

You would do well if you clean the deck on the inside, fastest way to rust , plus it cut better.

Great point! I missed that but I do it regularly on my mower. Thanks for watching!

I took a plastic gallon jug and cut the bottom off and trimmed to fit under the oil filter. No mess. Also use the pre-filter over the air filter so it lasts longer.

Bought a Z254F special edition 7 weeks ago, mowed my 5.5 acre horse property that has no horses. It did great, the pastures had not been cut all summer, were 2 ft tall grass and weeds. Had to make two passes in the deep stuff but the whole place looks like a lawn now. Engine is very powerful, mine has the Kawasaki 23 HP. The special edition has very aggressive tread tires.

There are very nice mowers, and relatively easy to maintain.

The reason for oiling the o ring on filters, when the rubber makes contact with the metal it will slide when you are tightening it. If there is no oil you can rip or damage the o ring and you get leaks. I know from ripping one on a truck and oil was all over the place

Do you like this mower so far? I would like to mow 2-3 acres around the house on our farm here every week or so during the Spring time.

I do like these mowers. We have two and cut alot of grass. They hold up well and are relatively easy to do maintenance on. Husqvarna products have not let me down. We also have one of there trimmers. Great products.
