I think Bebop & Rocksteady look fantastic! Their sculpts & details are very nice. I take issue with the decline in Quality Control. Rocksteady’s weapons definitely should’ve been painted & should’ve had an alternate head like Bebop. Bebops Chuck Taylor shoes should’ve had white clamshell toes but it was minor in waves 1 & 2. Rocksteady’s missing paint on weapons & no alt head! Metal head is small with a virtually identical alt head. The plastic used for April seems cheap & shiny. Mike has no turtle com. With prices going up, they should’ve done a bit better. The packaging should’ve had bio cards with stats like the originals too.
I’m bummed about Mikey’s missing turtle com. I was hoping he’d have one in his colors. I also didn’t understand the point of metal heads extra head. I’ll talk about that in my video when I get there.
@@retrorampage9015 I want a different head sculpt because two of the same is a waste. Everyone else with two have a different look on the second. Also there’s a small bio on the back but not a file card like the originals. I may seem whiny about the products I pay for because I know they can be better. Especially at these higher prices. Do you want people who pay for these to feel burned by the purchase? Or excited to buy another?
Thank you! I appreciate it! I’m going to try and have the next three up every other day. I’m moving a little slow, but I’m pushing on. I also got NECA’s Muckman and mondo gecko in the mail so they’ll follow right after!
I like both Neca & Super7. Some of the baddies are supposed to be bigger than the turtles. So the Super7 Bebop & Rocksteady go well with the Neca Turtles. My only complaint about Super7 is them doing "variant" Turtles before doing other characters. At Wave 5 we don't need 2 Leo's and you only do 4 characters a wave. Either make a wave bigger or wait til a good amount of characters have been released before doing variant characters.
Dude! I just got mine a few days ago too! I hadn't taken him out of the package yet, so I unboxed while watching your video. Also, pro tip: Wedge the knife between the shell on his belt and his hip. It fits nicely and looks cool.
I got in late to collecting the modern TMNT lines and after watching a ton of reviews and evaluating the breadth of the lines with the look/articulation/price, I chose NECA over Super7. As much as I enjoy the faithful replication of the toys of my youth, NECA just looks so good on the shelf. And they hold their value very well. Super7 asking $75 now for single big figures is pretty nuts, but there are a couple that look like they're fit well with the NECA line that I might get on sale, like Guerilla Gorilla.
The good thing about Neca is their figures come out a lot quicker. They’ve covered a lot of stuff over the past couple of years while Super7 has given us so very few Ultimates.
Dude, I am so glad I got this. Mine should be arriving today. I almost passed him up because I didn't have him as kid either. For some reason I only had Bebop and Shredder as my only two villains. My mom motley bought me the good guys lol
The boxes with accessories lol. Seriously, he does look good, but agree on all your criticisms. Trigger hands would have been nice. I'm giving his weapon rack gun to Bebop so they can match.
I would say Super 7 is better just simply because they are better designed figures that don't need to be heated up, rarely have paint issues and can be easily found. I never had a Rocksteady that didn't have a messed up leg that I couldn't fix out of 3 sets. I finally got tired of buying them as more and more of my NECA figures were broke or had joint issues. Their plastic is cheap and their design process is bad. Now I will say their new figures seem to be fixing this, but that doesn't fix all the older figures that still have this issue.
I've watched this review 3 or 4 times. I put it on my playlist while I'm driving. ------- I've gone back and forth on Super 7's Rocksteady. My initial reaction was good, but not a exciting as Ultimate's Bebop. You already know what you were getting with Ultimate's Rocksteady in terms of size, weight, articulation, and accessories. So you already had expectations, and Playmates' Bebop is a more interesting design than vintage Rocksteady. Playmates' Rocksteady is a darker color palette and a very "realistic" design compared to a lot of what comes later. The cartoon Rocksteady has a more interesting design and color palette that also hurts this Rocksteady design a bit. Now that I have said that, I originally had Super 7 Rocksteady as the second best figure in the line, then I dropped him down to around maybe 6 or 7th place. I've since come back around and he's probably my favorite figure in the line. Realistically he shares that spot with Bebop, but I think I prefer Rocksteady ever so slightly. As an adult my tastes have grown, expanded, and are more nuanced. I love the paramilitary design of the figure. I love the darker color scheme The textures on the skin - all the bumps and wrinkles- add so much character. You can actually get him balanced on one foot with his head down in a full on charge. Bebop is colorful and cool, Rocksteady feels mean. The weakest part of this figure is the lack of paint apps on the gun and no trigger finger. Thankfully I prefer fists on mine. There's something about this figure almost a year later that has captured my imagination.
Wow! From second to sixth to the top of the line. You’ve gone back and forth a lot on the guy. I agree with you on all of the things you said about him having an awesome design and texture, the bumps and wrinkles all look very natural and really make him look more realistic than some of the other figures in the line. I don’t know who I’d pick as number 1. Bebop really impressed me more than another figure in the line before him. I loved how you finally had him with all of his details painted. Muckman is also an amazing figure but I feel like everybody says he’s there favorite so I feel like I shouldn’t pick him haha. I can see why you’d pick him as your number one, the military look really gives him a personality that’s unique within the line. Sure Sgt Bananas also has a military theme, but you can imagine him coming from a different angle with it, You could also think of him as a punk rocker who likes to dress in military clothes which is something some punks do. I never tried to balance him on one foot, but I’ll have to now.
@@razrentals8897 got mine second hand, so no box. I recently got a Space Raph and it still had the outer shipper box, so maybe it's only the most recent wave that doesn't have them anymore
@@dmc2008 the slip cover or the brown mailer box? My robotic rocksteady and genghis from that wave only had slip covers. I haven’t gotten a space Raph yet.
If Bebop and Rocksteady were in the 2003 series I don't think that Shredder would have kept them on the job like he did in the original series if they failed he probably would have killed them.
That would have been cool actually. They should have had them in human form during the first episode and Shredder should have killed them at the end for failing like he did the guy with blue hair. That could have been a good way for them to say “this isn’t the turtles you remember, the past is dead”. I’m surprised Peter Laird didn’t do that haha.
I gotta say, I was never a big fan of this design of rocksteady at first, mainly because I’m so familiar with the cartoon and apparently this one looks nothing like the cartoon. But after seeing your review, he does look pretty intimidating. My only issue is I wish the weapons had a variety of colors rather than just that all gray color. I never realize how Super Seven figure was much rocksteady was bigger than the turtles. Also can the neca weapons fit on Rocksteady? Also when you think about it, this rocksteady looks exactly like the rocksteady from the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sega game Hyperstone Heist.
I am always debating whether I made the right choice going for the NECA ones instead of the Super7s. I really like the Super7 sculpts but they are always so pricey and their accessories just seem so lackluster. I don't blame anyone from wanting NECA due to the cartoon, but I think once we start getting more mutants Super 7 is really going to stand out.
