When you really look at the Lightning today and see how they drafted they really are a team of misfits. In 2015 when the team's most productive line was an undrafted 23 year old who everyone told him was too small to play (Tyler Johnson), a late 2nd round pick that everyone overlooked and future superstar (Nikita Kucherov), and I think a 6th or 7th round pick from the Czech Republic (Andrej Palat), is astonishing because you just don't know who's gonna turn out into what. And now there's Yanni Gourde and Brayden Point (who I think will turn into what Drouin was supposed to be) and Point was another late 2nd round pick that everyone overlooked. Other than Stamkos and Hedman and Drouin (who was traded for another really good prospect) the Bolts haven't been like Edmonton or Colorado or Florida where they get multiple lottery picks in consecutive years. It's amazing either Yzerman has a glass ball that can see into the future or the Lightning development programs are unreal.
actually Gaudreau was on the Dubuque Fighting Saints in 2010 (ushl), started college after that year and was in fact started in the NHL his first year after college. He was officially drafted after his year with the Saints tho. I live in dubuque, it was great to watch him play the year he was here. I like to keep an eye on the guys who make a name for themselves around here.
Damn I remember when I would get Elliott and Bishop mixed up because they were both stings for sens at one point (not at the same time but still) never get them mixed up now lmao
Aaron Certo looked at casey and he really looks good.good thing i heard about him was that if he is this good "out of shape" then just think how good how can become and i think he has a really bright future :) amazing hands and good shot!
Beau Bennet, never heard of him before because he was always injured. Now he's on New Jersey. I hope Sprong will become a Top 6 forward for the future, Derrick Pouliot...let's not talk about it.
Nate beaulieu is a beast and I still believe that, along with other Montreal prospects I feel like their coaches and overall style of play ruins prospect d-man
i don't get how people say goalies like subban and fucale are busts.... their what, 20-21 years old? people need to understand that a tradition to the NHL as a goalie is harder than any position
As an Oilers fan, I see Reinhart as a bust, legit top6 defender would be nice at this point though. And I don't we have a potential superstar in our prospect pool other than Puljujarvi. So I'll say either Tyler Benson or Drake Caggiula. Maybe Ethan Bear or Caleb Jones too, they are doing very well in the juniors.
as a flyer fan, i wouldnt put any stock into Schenn. he has moments of game breaking ability, and has in previous stretches too. he is becoming a PP specialist. he lacks and seems he will forever lack the ability to be a good 2C on a contender. he has the raw talent, but lacks the IQ. he repeats the same 5on5 mistakes that he has done his whole career. he can also score a big goal well timed, but make costly mistakes regularly mishandling the puck the same game. he is a good top-6 fwd, but in my opinion he will never make a step to a next stage. and when he is hot like right now, ppl shouldn't be fooled into thinking it is happening. this coming from some one who has watched 90% of his flyers games
Team: Leafs (obviously) Under rated "superstar": Jeremy Bracco or Andrew Nielson Bust: Dmytro Timishov (For the fact he's talked about as if he'll be a top line forward when he's probably more suited as a 3rd line scorer, but he's not really a bist since as a 5th round pick he's outstanding, just overhyped)
Larkin, Mantha, and Athanasiou will be role players/bottom 6 guys. I was a big believer in Jurco and Smith, and I think both could of succeed if they were developed by different teams. Jurco never adjusted and or thrived to Babcock's north and south system. I still believe Jurco could of been a top 6 guy, if given the chance to play in a more creative/newer offense when he was younger. A more recent example what happened to Jurco, would be Tartar. Tartar is having problems making the line-up in Vegas due to the playstyle ingrained into him from Babcock and later Blashill rigid system. Smith's "development" never really happened. Due to Brian Rafalski early retirement, and the loss of Brad Stuart (at that time still a solid d-men), Smith was thrusted into the top 6 too early. In addition to: Lidstrom retiring a year or two early, and Kronwall being perpetually injured (especially especially the last few years). With all the above retirements and injuries, guys like Kindl, Ericsson, and Smith played too many minutes for the Wings. Also a sad mention to K. Quincey's time in Detroit during this same time.
Nicholas dude what are you on? Larkin and mantha role players? Larkin is the future team captain and mantha is a 25+ goal scorer. Tatar is having problems making the lineup because he’s just not that good. That’s what happens when you go from a weak forward group to an very good one
for the leafs, I think Andrew Nielsen could be a fantastic player on the leafs roster. He played fantastic last year in the WHL and now hes putting up solid numbers in the AHL. I feel like everyone just talks about the leafs forward prospects up front and guys like Nielsen dont get much or any credit at all. I see Travis Dermott being maybe a top 6 kind of guy, similar to what Connor Carrick is for the leafs. What do you think of that?
I see Dylan Strome being a bust/role player. More of a role player tho, unless hes like Scheifile (probably spelled that wrong) and is just a late bloomer but I knew Barzal was gonna be a fucking stud from the moment he was drafted.
i think liljegren is comically overrated. i put hague and valimaki, maybe foote over him as far as d. i feel like i must be an idiot and utterly missing something that no one else is. cuz i continue watching his games and continue to fail to see what every other scout is edit: i should point out I think he is GOOD. just, comically overrated due to being universally ranked top 3 for this draft. i have him closer to 20
Ottawa Senators, our surprise will be Filip Chlapik (C) Top 6 in my mind, capable of 50-60 points a year. Bust will be Logan Brown. Bottom 6 C, if we're lucky he turns into a less talented version of Zack Smith.
It would be really neat to go over some of these this far out. Super entertaining to watch 6 years after release
looking at this made me realize that time flies. I remeber watching the 2011 draft live with my older bro, and I can't believe that was 5 years ago

Damn.... Gaudreau was left off that list... how times have changed
actually Gaudreau was on the Dubuque Fighting Saints in 2010 (ushl), started college after that year and was in fact started in the NHL his first year after college. Thank you for that chuckle when you said Kyle Beach. What a plug. Being a BC guy also these Western League names are a hoot (Ryan Howse, Jon Blum)
Love the reaction to Kadri.
It's surprisingly satisfying hearing all these names I thought would be big and never came up
Damn I remember when I would get Elliott and Bishop mixed up because they were both stings for sens at one point (not at the same time but still) never get them mixed up now lmao
Also if there's not a verified blue check mark odds are that Ryan Kesler isn't legit
Hi Ottawa fan here. I have to say Filip chlaplik will be a surprise and a potential role player we have will be Logan Brown
Ouch the sabres prospects!!! Enroth looked brilliant at times Zach kassian was hot and cold I think we gave up on him a bit soon
Jordan Subban...he needs a chance in the NHL
Would love to see Mittlestandt and Nylander become an elite 1/2 punch for the Sabres. Also I can see Guhle becoming a top 4 D.
Aaron Certo looked at casey and he really looks good.good thing i heard about him was that if he is this good "out of shape" then just think how good how can become and i think he has a really bright future :) amazing hands and good shot!

Granlund broke out in Minnesota this year so..
Man, I remember how hyped Runblad was. Crashed and burn.
MEMBERBERRIES!!!!!!!
I 'member.
The Hockey Guy hey Shannon is this pre Yvonne? You have a mismatched hat and jersey
I WANT TO BE A KEYBOARD WARRIOR! Sounds sweet!
Matt barzal will be a stud very soon.
Are you sure?
You were correct.
Ooh idk abt that one he’s having a pretty rough season this year😂😂
I knew it
Already is😂
I think that Troy Stecher will become a very good player!
Eyy granlund leading scorer in minny last year ;)
Nate beaulieu is a beast and I still believe that, along with other Montreal prospects I feel like their coaches and overall style of play ruins prospect d-man
Fun and interesting video.
Lucic begged the Boston brass to draft Gallagher, whom he trained with.
Have not watched yet I'm a Buffalo sabres fan and this is going to be painful!
i don't get how people say goalies like subban and fucale are busts.... their what, 20-21 years old? people need to understand that a tradition to the NHL as a goalie is harder than any position
+seaner Subban is 23 and his stats keep getting worse. Fucale is younger, but his stats have been brutal.
seaner fucale sucks
After watching this, i’m glad to say M. Subban is playing great hocky this year
As an Oilers fan, I see Reinhart as a bust, legit top6 defender would be nice at this point though. And I don't we have a potential superstar in our prospect pool other than Puljujarvi. So I'll say either Tyler Benson or Drake Caggiula. Maybe Ethan Bear or Caleb Jones too, they are doing very well in the juniors.
thanks for that gothrough, really funy how These ratings change with time
Nino never did play with Tavares
Damn... Chet Pickard is now the Backup for my team in Germany :D
I think Igor Shestyorkin is going to be a big surprise
as a flyer fan, i wouldnt put any stock into Schenn. he has moments of game breaking ability, and has in previous stretches too. he is becoming a PP specialist. he lacks and seems he will forever lack the ability to be a good 2C on a contender. he has the raw talent, but lacks the IQ. he repeats the same 5on5 mistakes that he has done his whole career. he can also score a big goal well timed, but make costly mistakes regularly mishandling the puck the same game. he is a good top-6 fwd, but in my opinion he will never make a step to a next stage. and when he is hot like right now, ppl shouldn't be fooled into thinking it is happening. this coming from some one who has watched 90% of his flyers games
Luke Trottier How times have changed, now Schenn is tearing it up in St.Louis
looking at the top 5 in Oct /17. 3 of the top 5 are Edmonton Oilers. 2011 turned out to be the Oilers year !
Who’s watching in 2018
Team: Leafs (obviously)
Under rated "superstar": Jeremy Bracco or Andrew Nielson
Bust: Dmytro Timishov (For the fact he's talked about as if he'll be a top line forward when he's probably more suited as a 3rd line scorer, but he's not really a bist since as a 5th round pick he's outstanding, just overhyped)
Brendan Gallagher at #10 on the prospect list lol. He is literally the heart of the team now
Larkin, Mantha, and Athanasiou will be role players/bottom 6 guys.

why the hate for Naz Kadri? He has been solid...granted, it required Babcock to fix his problems
Bust: Dylan Strome
Hall right pick RNH right pick Yak wrong pick Edmonton should have drafted Morgan Riley
Ryan Scherbluk kucherov > Rnh, but I agree hall was the right pick
scheiffele, kucherov > RNH
skateordiedev yep but kucherov went in the 2nd round at the time
u didn't do Washington
Cstmollins cuz those guys are bums
Og2tone Marvell bums playing in the Stanley Cup finals
Allfath3r i dont care i like watching a hard working team like the caps its gunna be a great cup final
For the Canucks I think Adam Gaudette could be the next surprise.
Is Cormier the guy that gave that one kid brain trauma in the minors or is that someone else
Brett Connolly Top prospect Hahahahahahaha ( as a Bruins fan I would just rather have those two seconds back) and no Jimmy Hayes
for the leafs, I think Andrew Nielsen could be a fantastic player on the leafs roster. He played fantastic last year in the WHL and now hes putting up solid numbers in the AHL. I feel like everyone just talks about the leafs forward prospects up front and guys like Nielsen dont get much or any credit at all. and Anders Bjork
Going back to 2011 draft Nuge would still be 1st Overall
Nail Yakupov I'd say kucherov
Kucherov was a steal for the Lightning, much better than Nuge.
The Hockey Guy I like nuge but kucherov easily beats him
Don't forget Johnny Gaudreau
Leo Jiang gaudreau is good but he took to long developing to be a number one pick
i think liljegren is comically overrated. i put hague and valimaki, maybe foote over him as far as d. i feel like i must be an idiot and utterly missing something that no one else is. cuz i continue watching his games and continue to fail to see what every other scout is
edit: i should point out I think he is GOOD. just, comically overrated due to being universally ranked top 3 for this draft. i have him closer to 20
Luke Trottier you were right
Peter Cehlarik
2018 ovi win a cup
Ottawa Senators, our surprise will be Filip Chlapik (C) Top 6 in my mind, capable of 50-60 points a year. Bust will be Logan Brown. Bottom 6 C, if we're lucky he turns into a less talented version of Zack Smith.
Brandon ghule
