    EDIT: Had to cut out some portions of this due to recent updates to Capcom games. Sorry!
    I received really good advice from Michael Timmerman who advised me about getting gear from Barroch, thank you!
    Been sitting on this for days now, deciding whether it's good enough to release - I'm not sure I'm satisfied with this video but I hope it makes someone laugh, if it can do that I'm happy.
    This is why professionals make christmas specials in november. Next christmas special feb 2024
    Yes there was an intended fart joke at 19:12 but I've heard RUclips does not appreciate the Dva fart video so I just cut it out. Merry christmas

      It's a little of everything, but especially a lack of knowledge. Most enemies have elemental strengths and weaknesses- plus vulnerable spots and durable spots.
      Obviously, you want to aim at a dragons heart. The Red Drakes are fire element. Use ice (specifically, Glacis.). Wyverns have no elemental weakness, but have low health and are highly resistant to lightning. I suggest using Bolide, but a climbing Pawn will do. Ice element Wyrms (ground favoring spellcaster dragons) are vulnerable to fire.
      Also, for bolide- higher charges only increase the number of projectiles. Also, you are only guaranteed to get two hits per target in your range. For this reason, not worth fully charging it if there isn't a lot of enemies around.
      Ogres are weak to headshots- elders are weak to neck shots, and neither of them like lightning. Things like Torpor also make them a lot easier to deal with- Do not under estimate status effects.
      I noticed this with your main review too. You used fighter and mystic knight but I don't think I ever saw you use perfect block. You've barely scratched the surface of those vocations.

    • @AsaelTheBeast
      @AsaelTheBeast Год назад +1

      And to be clear, Elder ogres actually don't have exceptional HP They have exceptional damage resistance. You are doing a fraction of the damage you should be doing because you're hitting him where he is strong, not where he is weak. For spellcasters, it's possible to free aim on mouse and keyboard by hitting shift.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +1

      @@AsaelTheBeast Holy smokes the free aim thing, hot damn I never saw that for spellcasting. I want to say thank you as well for all the information you've given me here, some of this stuff I picked up on playing the game, some I've been told about in comments including yours, so thank you! But this highlights a problem I never even considered when reviewing the game. So much of what I've been told is never communicated to the player. Okay fire drake resistant to fire, that's common sense, and the pawns do shout "weak to ice" etc.. But elder ogres are weak to neck shots? I would never have known that without your comment or the wiki.
      I did experiment with some status effects off camera, and Silentium was really useful
      You're right about the fighter and mystic knight, I'm gonna be returning to cover the latter sometime. Not gonna lie blocking with the rusted shield just made me want that 2 handed sword as quickly as possible. That is on me.
      And I want to say thank you so much for taking the time to leave this comprehensive and helpful info for me and other players. I really appreciate you watching my video as well, so double thank you!

    • @AsaelTheBeast
      @AsaelTheBeast Год назад +1

      @@reallylatereviews I'm glad it was helpful and not obnoxious.
      A few other things they don't seem to tell you is that you can cast the weapon buff magics on yourself as a mage. (also by hitting shift)
      Deathly arrow does a lot more damage if you fire right at the moment it hits full charge. (ranger specific.)
      Two sorcerers casting the same high level spell at the same time will bolster each others cast speed and share cast times. (It can get *really* silly) No point in having more than two though.
      This game has a higher skill ceiling than what is readily apparently. It's actually what keeps bringing me back to it.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +1

      @@AsaelTheBeast No no no, you're fine. In fact I can count on one hand the number of rude comments I've got across all my videos. The Dragon's Dogma community are passionate, helpful, and honestly to watch my video very patient as well rofl! So no, not obnoxious at all.
      Don't laugh but to self buff as a mage, I went in a corner and let the buff ball home in on myself. Your way seems better.
      I'll remember the deathly arrows tip for when I hit up ranger, thank you!
      I did think about doing the sync sorcerer casting but as weird as it sounds I began to enjoy the longer cast times.
      I think you're absolutely right as well, it's depth is well hidden in systems that seem simple, but there's a lot of complexity going on. Thank you again for coming back! With your permission may I quote you in a future video if that's okay? Especially about the self buffing and ogre weak points.

    Sorcerer is the most love/hate experience but it really captures the fantasy of a mage for me. Very slow and vulnerable early on but if you keep at it you eventually become a god of death wiping out waves of enemies.
    Not my favorite vocation because so much of the playtime is the slow, kind of painful first part but the pay off is so satisfying.

    The reason that Ogre had so much health is because it's one of the "necrophage" enemies of the game. Kill too many enemies in a run through the isle, and one will spawn. These guys are absolutely scaled for after you already get some good gear and levels from Bitterblack Isle and then upgrading them. You're meant to run away from these guys for awhile.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +10

      Ahhh okay, I knew they were spawned in by the slaughter but had not caught on that they were especially designed for running away. It's weird, if they were stationary enemies I would have just assumed to come back later, but them spawning in threw me off completely. Actually I'm now remembering a popup warning me about this and now I feel exceptionally dumb.
      But as dumb as I feel, I'm also thankful for you coming and watching my video, and leaving a comment that helps me and others get more out of this game. I really appreciate it, thank you!

The Into Free song needed to stay on the menu and the Arisen theme could have found it's own place.

    Loved that you enjoyed sorcerer so much, even after sticking through the tough beginning, which just sounds like the game itself. And I absolutely agree on the Warrior, he's my favorite or second favorite after Fighter depending on the day, and ypu put it perfectly, Dragon's Dogma to me too is also about getting intimate with the enemies, and the Warrior does that absolutely incredibly. Here's to hoping he gets 6 skill slots in the sequel.
    And I'm glad you enjoyed the DLC so much, it is in my opinion, the best DLC ever for a videogame. The first playthrough of Bitterblack Isle is just pure magic, and once you get good gear, it's just so much fun. Great video!

      I think Bitterblack Isle is the DLC this game deserved, but the nature of the post-game gransys really makes the grind to get there a challengeless slog, probably my only complaint with the difficulty curve for BBI. I feel I can't progress without leveling, and leveling in BBI is too hard, so I have to kill trivial scrub goblins. But the gear in there is just such a wonderful step up, it's true!

    Gosh such a good follow up video and I love your style of humor and writing. I was invested in what you had to say and laughing from the dry and witty humor from start to finish.
    Honestly really glad you decided to do a follow up video, I will say I'm kind of surprised you went into bitterblack Isle at only level 60. I was like no wonder all these bosses felt like hp sponges. In my eyes level 60 is best for starting the everfall and around 90 to 110 for bitterblk. Also like you mentioned with mages they can be very element reliable heavy which can be an annoying trial and error situation unless your pawn or rented pawns inform you of the monster weakness. Also another reason why mage could have been a lot more lacking for you in the power damage department is due to your vocation you've been focusing on. Remember how in the last video I mentioned the who each class gives different stats when leveling up so in a sense you can min max a character? well since you've mostly stuck with fighter warrior classes more of your physicals attack stats are higher then your magic attack states making using mage classes a lot more of a combat challenge compared to if you started out as a mage; so that could have played a part in it too.
    Also I do wanna mention another thing that while I like but wish they would have put more effort in teaching players is how much dragon's dogma put effort in making status effects and items more useful/ important in combat compared to other RPG's out there. For example plenty of monsters can fall victim to being put to sleep or even just being one shot turned to stone. those big wolfdogs from bitterblk that were in your video are super weak to sleep and when attacking them while asleep similar to monster hunter you do even more damage (4.5X damage from what I've learned) towards them making quick work of them. got a cyclops who's weak to lighting stuns? Hit them with some water flaks or lure them into water to drench them to make lighting and ice attacks do more damage. Shot you can even slice the spell casting dragon making him pretty much useless in attacking you.
    speaking items like water flasks. So many items in the game are so useful form, combining large nuts with Harspud Sauce to make a team healing health potion. Sick of lantern going out and having to remove it and bring it back out to see again? Use a clean cloth. While all items in this game have their usefulness, there's a few that stand above the rest. These items are the Periapts and are some of the in my opinion best items in the game, change and turning a tough fight into a 1 min smack down. Conqueror's Periapt are any warrior with a sword or bows friend and the Demon's Periapt for any spell casting. Not only do these power up your attack damage but they can be stacked up to 4 times and will stack with any other stat boosting effects you may have on. for example, I've even been able to kill death in less then 1 min thanks to them. remember how I said you can use a clean cloth for getting ride of being drenched use a monks periapts and preventing all debilitations for a set time. Hell you could even farm levels by using a Veteran's Periapt to give you double xp for 5 minutes.
    but yeah there's a lot of useful items and just taking advantage of status effects that come into so much play in the game I wish they would have taken a bit more time in explaining it to players more.
    Loved the video and hope some of this info was helpful or at least interesting to know. Keep up the good work!

      Thank you so much for your kind words Cyclone and for coming back to watch as well, thank you! And yeah there's a lot I wish I'd known going in haha! I tend to shy away from buff item playstyles, but my recent time with Pathfinder has kind of began to erode that mentality slowly. Although I must admit I don't have the patience to farm curatives and such in DD, I did like the harspud sauce that healed everyone, that's one of the few things I did use haha! The items to mend conditions is another thing I should have focused on but I must admit, I wanted to spend as little time searching through the inventory as possible, I ended up dumping nearly all my curatives and tools in storage with the exception of a few Periapts
      You're right as well about the stats from leveling, I never imagined it would have such an impact honestly, I assumed the augments would be more important! The status infliction I didn't pay much attention to but I really should have, because even if I'm just swinging a sword my mages could be doing something different! I did start to invest in Silencing and Miasma spells. I agree that they never really go into detail what those effects do or how to inflict them, and the ability descriptions range from straightforward to vague, so it's hard to tell what you're doing. Sleeper Arrows, I probably should have thrown some into a pawn's inventory! I love how drenched targets are weaker to lightning and ice though, that's fantastic. I didn't notice as a melee, but something to remember nonetheless!
      Lastly, I genuinely thought I could take BBI at level 55 haha! I didn't reach 60 until a bit later, and then 70 (I think?) It was definitely fun but had stressful parts, I feel like a higher level would have made it more fun but getting to that higher level was not something I was prepared to do in that time :D
      Thank you again, I always worry if I'm doing a game justice. And if I can make someone smile that's even better for me, so thank you!

    So, a few point regarding Bitterblack Isle.
    You already mentioned how you were under leveled for it and that's precisely why encounter like the 3 Garm were so tough. You see, on the isle, whenever you kill some creature, they leave a pile of flesh on the ground. Kill enough creature and a corpse eating creature may appear. These creature are even tougher than reguler Bitterblack ennemies so it's better to run whenever they appear.
    Secondly, you can "save scum" to get better gear you want from cursed item. Basically, the reward from purifying items is seeded, which mean you'll always get the same thing, but you'll get different reward if you purify it as a Ranger instead of a Warrior for example. So what you can do is save, purify the item to see what they'll give, and if the result doesn't satisfy you, use the godsbane to kill yourself, reload and purify as another class.

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад

      Ooh I did not know about the seeded rewards haha, that sounds like a great way to sift through the system to get the items you want though thanks!
      The corpse eating creature mechanic I did know about and I'm kicking myself for not bringing it up haha, the game even popped up and told me! But I did not know they were balanced around fleeing at that point in the game, I really should have read that and took notice, I might have complained less haha. Love this game but i dreaded the way leveling up works in it. Basically if you want to have a proper min/maxed build you have to commit to a certain vocation: Assassin for strength, Sorcerer for magic and ONLY level up as these vocations. Imagine how fun it is to level 200 levels as a sorcerer just to have a good magic archer build. I couldn't be bothered so i modded the magic archer vocation to have the same magic growth as a sorcerer. Bitterblack Isle was a breeze after that thanks to Ricochet Hunter. Love the video and merry (late) Christmas!

    • @lewbundles8639
      @lewbundles8639 Год назад +1

      Yeah that’s definitely a fair critique, I feel like each class should just have their own stats built into them depending on the players level. But that being said, it does allow for building your class uniquely if you wanted more hp growth than attack for example. Im not quite sure how they could combine both ways somehow but it would be nice if they could fix that problem for DD2

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад +2

      You both hit the nail on the head if you ask me. The system has potential but ultimately leads to either metagrinding or modding. But it does allow such build customisation and really is something that could be fixed for DD2. The laziest but best way is usually just a simple stat respeccing system. I know it can take away from the shelf life of a game but it works out of the box.
      Thank you both as well for these insights, I really enjoy reading stuff like this. And thanks for watching as well, a happy (late) holidays back to you both!

    You can actually use L3 or whatever that command is mapped to on your keyboard to enter free aiming for auto targeting spells and to target yourself with elemental buffs. I still enjoyed magic without knowing that, but it's a huge tip that I wish I had known during my first run. Also don't sleep on the earlier Sorcerer skills. Miasma inflicts poison, which is decent for enemies that resist damage, and it's very fast to cast. Lassitude inflicts Torpor, which dramatically decreases the speed of enemies giving you much better openings to cast your big spells. You can experiment with the mix of high and low level spells to really change how the class plays. You should also try Holy Focused Bolts if you haven't. Focused Bolt is an upgrade to your light attack where you hold the button and it charges up multiple little magic bolts. With the Holy enchantment, it does a lot of damage, has high stagger/knockback, and heals you a bit. You can even charge it while running, and fire it while jumping.

I honestly can't remember if I tried Focused Bolt or not but I will be revisiting DD in the future so I will (hopefully) remember to try it!
      I also have to admit I am such a basic wizard, I like my fireballs and big damage spells. I really should have made more use of the debuffing spells to weaken enemies, especially torpor which I've heard is amazing. That is on me hehe, but I just like my explosions.

Whether it’s through tips, gifting items, Or renting pawns. We’ve pretty much all been there. Someone else may have mentioned it, but a good thing to pick up for caster’s is the Wyrmking’s Ring. Give the duke a forgery, and keep it because it offers a 10% casting time reduction. And it stacks with the Augment that does the same thing for a total reduction of 19%.
      Also there is an option to change the explanation of skills in the menu. I believe the button is the same one as your light attack. For weapon skills it basically just tells you how to use weapon skills, but for Core Skills it will basically tell you which buttons to press.

    Makes me want to install and play through it again. But I really, really appreciate the pawn system. Since stat growth depends upon the vocation used on level up. I specifically built mines to be a tanky warrior from the start. Once I got him setup enough with gear and how he fought. It allowed me to fool around with different things, like the mage. Having that type of safety net when your fresh on a new class. Plus being able to bring in more, really takes that load off.
    Either way, I can't wait for the sequel. It will be god tier, as long as they build upon what they already have. No need to reinvent the wheel. Hopefully it's a skyrim situation, where I'm dead to the world because of it.

    oh boi, so many things to say, so many small details and hidden mechanics to learn, it would take a book to explain it all.
    4 key things to help, in order of importantce in my mind :
    - The single mosst important thing : damage reduction is not linear. If you played Gothic 1/2 or Fallout 1/2, it's the same kind.
    You do 200 damage, enemy has 190 defense, you get 10 net damage. Do 210, you end with 20, double damage.
    This means that if you get the impression of bullet spunge, it's because your damage is not high enough.
    There is a threshold to pass, when you do, you go from no damage to good damage, from 30 minutes fight, to 1 minute.
    So : upgrading gear, damage boost items (periapts), damage augments and using weaknesses, especially with elements, are key.
    A 10% damage augment don't seem high, but you can be right under threshold and a simple 10% could make the difference.
    You also get damage boost from situations, when the enemy is knocked down or slepping for instance.
    - Consequence of it, a very counter intuitive thing to know : getting "better gear" is not always better.
    The goal is damage after upgrade, but higher gear is also harder to upgrade, especially in BBI, some upgrades are exceptionaly hard to get.
    You can end up with a weapon you got at the start of the game, upgraded and do more damage than a BBI weapon you can't upgrade, though if you play normally and don't skip everything, it's less likely to happen. The weakest weapons, rusty weapons, are among the most powerful ones because of their effect : slowing down, works with spells.
    - Upgrades are specific to each spell/skill, it's not always about damage and sometimes it's very difficult to even understand how the spell or skill works.
    For spells, it means using the fully charged spell is not always the best, especially for sorcerer, casting time in combat can be more important.
    Comestion for instance is effective at level 1, or Bolide on higher level is useless for a single enemy (except chimeras, they are 3 enemies in 1)...
    - Finally : Don't listen to any "you must level X as this class, then Y in this class", these are outdated min maxing things from before BBI came.
    Damage mainly comes from your weapon, your stats don't matter much, except maybe stamina because you always need it.

      Thank you for listing all this out, I am ashamed to say I've heard about the damage reduction from comments on my other video, and had just assumed that was tied to melee/ranged (aka physical?) damage. I didn't dream magic damage would use the same system. I saw the rusty weapons dealing torpor when maxed and I really loved that idea, making them worth holding on to them. But I never bothered as the Rusted Greatsword felt too late game to be worth the effort, I wish I'd gone back for it now! To my detriment I barely touched buff items and rarely used curatives. I don't really enjoy it, and the inventory was really starting to wear me down. I should have probably realised they were nigh essential in BBI though that is on me being dumb.
      I am really grateful for the advice on levels though, I wish I had known that info was out of date before I implemented it haha! But I needed to level the vocation anyway so no real loss. Great follow-up video! I'm so happy to see it now that it's out and I'm glad you tried out the magic system.
    I absolutely agree with everything you've said about the vocation leveling system after switching classes. Ranking up a class you haven't already played is a bit rough, even if you have strong gear. There is some fun to that feeling of going through the period of weakness all over again as you progress again in a different vocation, but not for everyone. They made all of these incredibly fun classes with diverse and badass abilities, but no decent way to try out new ones without feeling like you gotta grind it. I know grinding is prevalent in many RPGs, but despite the fun combat, grinding is still grinding and it gets old. Maybe some kind of training practice using the training area in the Encampment would work? I'm not sure.
    Your other issue of casting big spells but dealing no damage though? This is one of the bigger but hidden issues with the designs of this game. The gameplay is so incredibly action and skill based, but the math behind it means that sometimes you simply do not have the stats to actually deal any damage to the enemy, even if you dodge all the attacks and hammer home all the openings and weak points. Bitterblack Isle has the biggest examples of this, probably because it is meant to be real endgame content rather than just an extra area, but it still hurts. The carrion enemies such as the Garm and the Elder Ogres are ridiculous balls of stats that ruin the flow of how cool the gameplay feels despite how early into Bitterblack they show up. To some extent, I would say that they are meant to be enemies to run from until you get more power from the equipment there, but still.
    Regardless, I'm glad to see this video and I love the Christmas theme, great stuff once again.

      I was worried I was just criticising the game without cause here, so it's good to hear it's not just me! I thought that New Game+ would be the chance to try out new vocations, but you also lose all your current vocations that way, so yeah a bit grindy! I think you're absolutely right about the enemies in Bitterblack, and I think my biggest problem with that is it circles back to the first problem. It comes down to outleveling to overcome them, which is just more grinding. Considering everything changes after killing Daimon that would have been the perfect time to introduce them haha. I did end up just running away a lot, I think it's very difficult to do endgame content for what is a contained singleplayer game, it isn't bad by any stretch but I like the way you described it, as having hidden issues. Things that become more apparent the longer you play. I'm more likely to play through the game again rather than farm BBI is the impression I am ultimately left with

    I'm a little late to the party, but I enjoyed your honest reviews about one of my all time favorite games. I've been with DD since the beginning. I really like the strider/ranger classes and don't personally like being a magic user but either my pawn is or I have a separate account where I have trained another pawn. One thing you didn't talk about but is very important is pawn inclinations. They actually have 3, but one is invisible. You'll know what it is if their inclinations change and it will show up. Always check your pawn's inclinations. That's what the learning chair is all about. There are potions you can buy that will change their inclinations back to what you want them to be. Your pawn will start copying other pawns or other people who hire them. So their inclinations will change over time. Some of them are dead awful and you want to change them ASAP. Read up on them. It makes a huge difference with the way they act. Also, I don't know if you know this, but if you or your pawn is one of the magic classes then you will definitely benefit by having the wyrmking's ring in your inventory. It cuts the casting time down quite a bit. What you do is take the ring to the Black Cat, and have him make a forgery for you. Return the fake ring to the Duke and keep the real one for yourself. Even if you or your pawn are not a magic users, one of the pawns you hire will probably be. So have them keep it in their inventory. Again, thank you for your amusing take on an old game.

      As for the Wyrmking's Ring, I just totally missed the forgery play behind that, imma get on that for my next game though :P It sounds incredibly useful and I imagine my pawn will be a big fan.
      To answer your other comment, I spent so long hoping a rusted greatsword would drop and I genuinely can't remember if I ever found one, I want to say they do torpor/poison? Something like that when upgraded but yeah I really should have given them more of a chance - although having my shield block fail for the 100th time did encourage me to just put them in a box and never look back haha!
      I want to say thank you as well, I'm really grateful for your kind words, your helpful advice and of course for watching my video. I really appreciate it, thank you! I am a big fan of strider too! I also hope I didn't do the game any injustice in my review, I really do love it even if it makes me pull my hair out.

    • @carolthe13th60
      @carolthe13th60 Год назад +1

      @@reallylatereviews Hi again. I didn't realize you didn't know about inclinations. There are nine of them, actually, with acquisitor being the worst, imo. With that inclination, especially if it's first, will cause a pawn to ignore everything to search for items. I'm not kidding. There's nexus, which causes the pawn to prioritize helping other pawns over you. Pioneer will cause them to leave the party behind and scout ahead, even if that's not what you want. There are some that are situational. For instance, guardian protects the player over anything, which can be useful for some builds but terrible if you play a ranger who never gets in the thick of things, medicant is good for healers but awful for anything else. Scathers will attack the strongest first, mitigators will attack the weakest first, and I can't remember the rest. I do know that at the height of DDDA's popularity, seasoned players, like myself, would check hired pawns inclinations before hiring them. The potions, nine in all, can be bought from a pawn, at the fort near your hometown. The first place you go after getting attacked by the dragon. I believe his name is Jonathon and it cost rift crystals to buy the potions, not money. Also, you drink the potions, not your pawn and you may have to buy more than one to fix your pawn back to how you like it. Just so you know. Good luck with your next playthrough. 🙂 PS You may already know this, but leveling is different depending on whether you want to level your level or level your class. To level up, fight big monsters like the Ur-dragon. But to level up classes, stay away from the big guys and fight goblins, bandits, wolves or the soldiers in the Duke's employ after you kill the dragon. For some reason fighting the big guys raises your class levels very slowly. It's a weird game mechanic.

      @@reallylatereviews Ok, last time, I swear. If you like playing as a strider, do not use the augment that lets you climb monsters faster. The strider's climb rate is faster than the augment and if you use it on a strider build you will actually be slowing yourself or your pawn's climbing speed. That's something not many people know. But now you do. 🙃

That's nuts that other things can influence your pawn, not just yourself at the chair. It sort of makes me wonder why have the system at all if it's being constantly changed by outside influences haha. I don't mean to knock DD it's just so many of the interesting ideas boil down to contrivances. I do like the mitigators though (now I know their name :P ) because usually it's the stray runners that mess up my party in fights
      I honestly assumed big monsters would equate to faster leveling and vocation leveling, so I do appreciate the advice haha, and it explains why a few minutes afk in Gran Soren made more progress than me farming drakes. About the quest locking, I like the replayability it encourages. I actually enjoy stuff like this myself (currently replaying pathfinder to see alt story) but what I really didn't like was how little DD communicates to the player what constitutes a quest 'phase.' For me there really needed to be a hard line saying "Stop, doing this will cancel these quests." It's a videogamey bar to be sure, but so is having these cancellations trigger from just leaving a building.
      I also really felt that quest dip in the second half I completely agree. I feel like they could have saved so many of the clutter quests for when they roll out the new encounters!

Beside learning about enemies' elemental weakness, you have to know their debilitation weakness as well (debuff weakness for gaming term) and monster behaviour plays a large role too. In this case, Elder Ogre's weak to Dark and Thunder, Debilitation weakness is Torpor (Sorcerer have a spell for this), Sleep (only Mystick Knight can use, but you can use items), Curse (take 40% more dmg) and if you observe her long enough, you will notice if she does a charge attack and miss, she will stuck in a stance which she has to keep her balance on one foot, this is the moment you climb onto her body and she will fall, in case you didn't know, enemies in this game will take increase dmg when they're knock downed and this is where you try to deal as much dmg as possible. Necromancy and Miasma both deal Dark magic dmg so this will be good for her ( don't forget Maelstrom too), so my chain of action while dealing with her us: Torpor her so she's stuck in slow motion, charge up Necromancy to stagger her, stack up Miasma on her and if she is knock downed, cast Maelstrom on her, done. If your magic attack is too low, you can try to curse him by throwing skulls at him and then put him to sleep by using Jewel of Sleep (sleep will make the next dmg they take x2.5). More advanced tips: if your pawn has the same high spell as you (like Gicel, Bolide, Maelstrom, Seism, Fulmination), when you cast that spell, they will try to mirror it. Moreover, if you or your pawns get interrupted mid cast but there's a party member who can still maintain the casting, if the rest of the party cast that spell again they will continue that spell at the progress that party member is casting (this called Spell Sync, wiki for more information). Sorcerer in this game does take the "knowledge is power" To the whole new level

I hadn't even thought of the magic attack value. The reason I didn't employ the spell sync was largely because I liked bringing pawns with other element spells to, well to be honest, offset the need to go back to HQ to swap spells out often. But the ability for them to resume casting was totally unknown to me that is fantastic. I'm playing a bit of mystic knight now but I completely missed the sleep spell, I'll have to go back and look for it! I never in a million years would have thought the elder ogre was weak to dark damage, they look so horrible and evil, and live in sewers ya know? Sort of give off a dark vibe.

      @@reallylatereviews I have a feeling that you will not read my comment because how long and nerddy it is but you did, so thank you. There is more advanced tricks for Sorcerer but i'll leave it to you to explore. One thing i love about this game is that it doesn't hand-hold you at all, you should be able to try it and figure it out ourself ( but due to some translation errors or straight up bugs, you still have to look at the wiki though). Anyway feel free to ask me about this class, because it's my joy to see others learning about Sorcerer and how to utilize this class, sadly most people usually rely on cheesing (Holy Focused Bolt) without actually learning how the spells work. Once you know how certain spells work, you can combine them to make time for your big spells and of course you know when you pull off the big spells, the fight's usually over. I'm quite sure you've already bought all Mage Augments and Sorcerer Augments so your Magick attack should be ok now (but in case you haven't known, Mage has one Augment increasing your magic by 10%, Sorcerer has one for 20% and they scale off of your base magic attack plus weapon), Sorcerer has an Augment for reducing Stamina for spell skills and an Augment to reduce casting time. Still you can reduce your casting time further by having Wyrmking's Ring in your inventory (if you haven't heard about this ring, i will not say anything because it's spoiler). Mystick Knight is very fun too, but i'll always go back to Sorcerer

Even as a sorcerer I can't stay away from getting hit haha. But now that you've said it, the sorcerer augment stacking sounds like it would have been very useful. Aw I've been informed about the ring don't worry, I've forged it, it's in my pawn's bags right now rofl! Thank you.
      I'm sort of underwhelmed by Mystic Knight a bit but I think my expectations were that I'd have a taunt, and I feel with all the fun blocking spells a taunt was essential. I like some of the spells however.

      @@reallylatereviews love to help dd has a lot of quirks to it's gameplay other games don't have and players don't know about. Like the damage and armor system is flat not percentage based which is why it's so hard to damage higher level enemies because it subtracts your attack from their defense and you can end up doing only like 1 damage and why it's so important to upgrade your and your pawns gear. And post Damon bbi is actually really hard even for me with experience I usually don't run through it until like over level 115. There's also the clothing system that never gets explained you just have to notice some stuff in your equip menu are clothes and fit under your armor so you can wear 2 legs slots and 2 chest slots together. Another warrior funfact the game doesn't tell you is the Iraklis from the black cat has it has reduced damage for normal attacks with a 1 in 4 chance of criting for extra damage. has a raised chance something like a 90% chance on skills like the arc of deliverance/obliteration to do something close to 9x damage as per exnilios testing.

    @alirafati9340 Год назад +1

    Okay let me tell you why are you doing little damage that's because you have been leveling up as not magic classes up until that point,leveling on DD is kinda different you see,each vocation gains different stats on each level up,so for example if you were playing as assassin or warrior each time you level up you get a s... ton of hp and Strength(increase physical damage) but on the other hand they gain terrible magic stat on level up what that means is that your sorcerer hasn't been Meant to deal magic damage because he has terrible magic stat due to his past levels...thats why it got better and better because on the new level ups you were gaining magic(not enough to make up for those levels lost meaning a character who has been sorcerer as soon as he reached gran soren is gonna deal WAY more damage than you at the same level with the same gear,also why are you not using bolide mate...mealstorm is good and all but against bosses with multiple hit targets(chimera,dragons,hydra) bolide is awesome (it also deals a little physical damage which considering your high strength is gonna matter more than you might think)

    • @reallylatereviews
      @reallylatereviews  Год назад

      So the leveling thing I've been made aware of, and I hate that it's never explained in a satisfactory manner to the player. It may work as a method of building the ultimate character but it also creates immense frustration when you have no idea that your stats are dependant on what vocation you are when you level. I also loathe any system where I'm encouraged to make a new character for a new vocation, but there's only one save file. But yeah this explains why I got better on sorcerer eventually, so I appreciate hearing this, thank you!
      Okay so don't laugh, I confused Bollide with that soppy fireball spell. I've tried to rectify that in another video but I'm also not playing sorcerer in that, so it is what it is. And I was honestly enthralled with the malestrom spell because it was targeted and I know precisely where it's going to hit, so that makes me happy. The fact it benefits from strength is also crazy.
      Sorry about missing this earlier, all I can say is thank you dude for coming to check out my videos and sharing helpful advice. It's great for me and other players cause knowledge is power in DD. Thank you!

    1. you need to try a double sorcerer with you as a sorcerer and a pawn also that has the big spells like maelstrom you want to cast. it halves the casting time of the major spell as the pawn will also be building up the spell with you. (also some of the best close-quarters spells are just the weapon buffs and having high magic stat using the staff ranged attack with holy, fire, or other buffs)
    2. each level gained has stat increases based on the class you were in when you gained a level. So when you switched to sorcerer after leveling as a warrior for so long you barely had any magic stats. btw there are different stat gains from 1-100 and from 100-200 for each class (think of it as a regular gain and post-endgame gains).
    3. certain classes benefit from min-maxing like pure melee classes taking the highest str gains and pure magic taking the highest magic gains, but the magic knight and the magic archer both are good with a mix of stats. Now that you mixed different stats one of them might be really fun to try.
    4. search google for "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Stat Planner" and use the GitHub link and you can see how different classes affect the stats when gaining levels.
    Love the vides btw
