Thank you for posting this. Getting the footwork down will help me greatly.

I'm late to this. But yes, footwork very important.
It's the basics, if your muscle memory can't get the footwork right, then anything you do will be wrong/unstable.

Almost looks like a montante/spadone flourish.

Good drills, but your feet are crossing way too much, it looks like

Why do you overstep with the back foot to place it outside the front foot instead of making a smaller step and keeping it inside?

He's taking angles. We do simular things in Kali, boxing, and kickboxing. Why fight in a straight line? Take an angle where you are out of danger but they are not.

@@Native_love So he's sidestepping to avoid a possible (imagined) incoming cut, before making his own cut?
      Thanks for your reply.

@@GonzoTehGreat So your opponent is trying to hammer your head with a war hammer or other heavy weapon, your best bet it to get out of the way while countering. It's better than going backwards against a large opponent rushing in. But mainly its just a good way to practice your cuts in a small area.

@@GonzoTehGreat It's like in boxing when you get a guy with heavy hands charging in, move to the side, not straight back as you can lose momentum, trip, or get overwhelmed. If you move to the side he has to readjust while you have him right in front of you. Hope this helps.

      @@Native_love Yeah, thanks.
I'm familiar with sidestepping in HEMA, so I should've guessed why he was doing it in this solo cutting drill. The reason is clearer when doing pell work.

Your wood sword sword, how long is it? The length of it.

      It's around 48 inches I believe. It's a Pentti from Purpleheart Armory, it's synthetic. www.woodenswords.com/product_p/type-iii-47.5f.htm Here's a link to their website.

The upper body movement looks good, but the footwork is definitely not good. Having the feet being in a line against the opponent is very unstable. This is not kali, boxing or kickboxing, so always keep your hips square against the opponent.
