- Here's a great little fingerpicking blues tune written by Tommy Flint.
I'm trying out the Yamaha GL1 Guitalele recently purchased to start teaching my granddaughter guitar. The 17" scale length is a little bit tight for adults but should be fine for youngsters.

Recorded using a Zoom Q8 Handy Cam & a Zoom AC-2 Preamp The ukulele is plugged directly into the camera via the AC-2 Preamp..

Well, that was a minute-and-a-half of my time well spent. Very nicely played! I've got an identical GL-1. They're more than little guitars. They're also a thing apart, with their own unique voices. They really lend themselves to finger-style playing.
Thanks for watching & commenting. Yes, the GL1 is a great little instrument & great value for money!
@@camsuke I play mine more than any other guitar I own. Its just so easy to pickup.
Very good fingerpicking on guitalele....
You deserve more views on your great Channel...

Doing this little guitar some justice. Fantastic.
Love this song. It reminds me of Doc Watson's Deep River Blues
This is really cool - love it!!!
Thanks very much! 🙂
Smooth and clean
Many thanks Justin!
WOW!!!!!! fantastic! dancing fingers!
Was searching for ‘yamaha gl1 blues’ and this superb video came up! Perfection!
Hey!
Does anyone know in which hardcase a yamaha gl1 fits into?
Would be very thankful!
it's very good and thank you very much for your tabs
Very nice song and played beautifully, did not know that the guitalele sounds so good!
Thank you!
Many thanks!
Very nice playing!!👏👏
👏👏👏tasty as barbecued ribs with a side of potato salad. Really nice brother.
Many thanks!
Loved this! So glad I happened upon your channel. I just received mine today and tuned it 1/2 step down. I have no experience with stringed instruments and may change the tuning to standard, we'll see. Finger style is what I am drawn to. I have small hands, so hoping this will suit me. Look forward to more. Your granddaughter is lucky to have you as her teacher!
Hi Toni, thanks so much for taking the time to comment & best of luck with your GL1! I've recently purchased a couple more GL1s for our newest grandaughters and plan on getting them started pretty soon 🙂
Well, that sure was something special, Campbell! I love the way both the blues and that Yamaha sound in your hards. Your granddaughter has a great teacher and inspiration in her midst. :) I hope all is well there! Linda :)
Hello Linda, I'm really looking forward to getting Poppy started on uke & guitar, she has shown a keen interest from an early age! Take care my friend.
Nice job Campbell. You inspire me to become a better player!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Cheers,
Spicysteve.
Stephen Albrich Thanks Steve, much appreciated 😀
Amazing work my friend, great sound! All the best to you Campbell!🎷🎷
Hi Rob, thank you!
Just bought my first instrument. I bought this model, trying to figure out how to play. Never played guitar or ukulele before. 😂
All the best to you! Practice little and often when you start, it will help to prevent sore fingers & hands. Build it up over time, slow and steady 😀
@@camsuke Thank you! I now know some chords and stuff and dont have sore fingers anymore 😁👍
@@budadi Well done, keep up the good work!
Great! Can u please add more guitalele songs
Hi what a lovely music channel. I really enjoyed my listen. Subbed your channel and liked. Cheers!
Thanks so much Kim, I'll check out your channel & sub you back!
Love it
Hi Tony, thank you!
Beautiful sound. 💕
Thank you my friend!
Great playing! I subscribe your channel, like and full watch! 😉
Thank you!
Such a delightttttttttttttttttt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the very first notes, I thought you were going to play Windy and Warm :)
I LOVE this, Campbell !!!!!
Thank you my friend!
Really nice tune
Man you just transported me from Edmonton, to Louisiana and Mississippi with these hit blues on a cold day! By the way I have the same Guitarlele but in persimmon brown! Hearing you play this helped me to decide to give up the soprano Uke I had brought a few days before and go get the Yamaha GL-1
By the way I've subscribed and I've saved this in my favourite list! I've shared it many many times since December of last year! I'm a total beginner but I'm learning from just listening to you and watching your finger flow! 😎🙂🙃😉😊
Hi Roylin, thank you my friend & best of luck with your GL-1, I'm sure you'll have it humming in no time at all!
@@camsuke Mr Cool Cam! Thank you for encouraging me 9 months ago . On your reply to me you wished me good luck with learning to play my GL 1 yamaha guitarlele and you also said I would be picking some blues on it in the merry near future. Well here's me In the future a weeks ago playing some fingerpicking blues in A in standard tuning.

I've even taught myself to play blues in the DADGAD tuning on my guitarlele which is actually GDGCDG .
Very nice, Campbell!!!
Sawlon Thanks Dave! 😀
I have this one, but my fingers are just too big. I want a Mini R! :)
Yes, the GL1 is a bit tight for adults, but it should be fine for my granddaughter......... until she wants an Electric!
very cool!
Thanks Marius!
Great playing! I love my Yamaha GL1 even better after I changed the head nut! 😉 38mm between the 2 E strings is not enough, 41,5mm is much better!
Your vidéo shows well that there is plenty of room to put a better head nut, so I wonder why Yamaha didn't do it...
It is also better to try them before buying them, some are better than others...
Thanks for watching! I like your thinking, maybe Yamaha will evolve the current design over time & adopt a slightly wider string spacing.
I like the idea Luc. Did you do a blank nut or perhaps a prefabricated one? If the latter - which one did you get? Cheers
@@martinschDK I used a nut that was originally on a 7/8th guitar with a 50mm neck... I just had to sand it down a bit because it was too high. To make one from scratch I would have asked a luthier, a good one is not easy to do... But I'm sure you can find a prefabricated one that will be good for the little guitalele! I found one for a friend at a guitar store, they had some for several neck sizes...
@@luc5798 thanks for the reply! I’ll look around to see if I can find something like that! Good info about the nut for 50mm neck, because a 48mm or 1 7/8” is hard to find with 41,5mm spacing E to E..err I mean A to A.. 😆
I've heard that this can last 3 months. And I'm debating on buying it. Is it worth the money?
They are as "cheap as chips" and they are tough little instruments, get one.
