I've played this game so many times. God it's nice to see someone else who knows EVERYTHING about this game. For those who didn't know Aeris makes a surprise visit in the side-story when your going to get Cloud.
This is the greatest game there has ever been. I've played through from begining to end at least 50 times. May St. Ajora save all us sinful children of Ivalice. Amen.
When I first saw this I was thinking "lolmediator" but then remembered guns rule. And Ramzas a beast. I liked the fact that you used jobs that most people completley disregard, like mediators and oracles, very uniqe and it worked out nicely. Good job.
I absolutely LOVE the sound people make when they die on this game. Gratifying when you make a kill but it gives a bit of panic when it happens to you.
This game is by far one of the best if not the best strategy game of all time! The team you fielded was overall not well balanced but that is okay since this is essentially an easy fight. Good job on learning many of Cloud's job abilities.
@mjavor I'm going to say yes because I still can't think of a game that I enjoy half as much with regards to replay value. I bought the War of the Lions version for my IPod touch about a month ago and I'm still playing it. I like all the additions they made for it. But it is very annoying to play without a joystick though...
I really like the Female Mediator sprite, it looks so cool, she has similarities with Momo from BoF3, except for the colors. I always have a Mediator/Chemist in my team, healing when needed and shooting enemies from afar.
Yeah me too, a chemist is a must. Especially nice that they can use guns too. I really wish they'd create a new FFT with the same look and feel. I like the Game Boy Advanced and DS releases but they weren't quite the same. I didn't care for their storylines so much either.
Also, I'm sure you know this, but the Materia Blade (equip it on Cloud to use the 'Limit' ability) is located at the highest point in the map with the lava. (I can't remember the exact name for the place)
This game... Just thank god I got to find out A game like this, there are probably games I don't know that are as good as this one, but I'll always remember this game :).
That skill is used to obtain items from monsters, not to get them in your party, To tame monsters, you need a mediator with invitation skill, or you can give mediator's active ability to someone but you'll also need to give them the passive ability "Monster Talk" or something like that.
Great game! It's funny cause it should only take a few seconds to cross the entire map but could take hours cause of random battles. Really makes you feel like your traveling. Epic.
Great shot you have a game on a tape for the game boy, but I broke down I wanted to buy, but I do not have a credit card. Greetings from Mark from Serbia!!!!!
I totally agree with Lenoch!! Unfortunately for my friend he had actually bought "the new FF game" and came straight to my house to play it. We were amazed by the opening credits and ready to kick some ass. Then when we got to the game play were were saddened. Like Len, it just wasn't FF. But, considering he was out 50 bucks, we had time to kill and we were FF fans we gave it a shot. Turned out, after an hour we figured out the mechanics and were hooked. I agree dude, easily in my top 10 favs!!
Fun to watch the ownage. Nothing like Two Hands from the Ninja and than auto heal from a hit. Cloud is boss as usual. This is one of the best games all time. Got when it first came out and have had it ever since. Oh and the soundtrack is worth buying-epic soundtrack is epic.
Yes, this came out in 99, on the PSone. I still have this one, and play it now and then. There is the enhanced remake version of this game on the PSP, with the additional character from GBA, playable dark knight, and onion knight. Also supports ad-hoc.
i started to play FFT recently after finishing FF12...since I loved that game (though many didn't like it) and since both games were made by the same developers i was very intrigued with tactics...so I played it on my PC...and right now I'm enjoying it so much! why didn't i discovered this YEARS ago...? lol...
Nice gameplay footage. Really makes me want to go grab my copy of the game and play it now. ;) Although, I'm currently playing Vandal Hearts, so I guess I still have my Tactical RPG fix. Are you into any other games of the genre? Like Vandal Hearts, Tactics Ogre, Disgaea, Shining Force, etc?
I have a device called a "Dexdrive", it's a piece of hardware that attaches to your PC which you plug the memory card into and it'll transfer all the data from your memory card to your PC and vice-versa. I doubt you can find one new anymore, maybe an old used one like on Ebay. If you have an emulator then you don't need to worry about it.
i f-ing love this game. have it for ps2, psp, and gbasp. there are no limits to how many times you can play and enjoy it. this vid is super, thanks for asking.
One of the greatest game indeed....i did not finish the extra adventure where you roam inside a pitch black cave and only crystal of dead person can light up the place...the monsters are just too powerful! I waited and waited if there will be another game of this genre but non could surpass the quality of the original FFT! Awesome music as well! First I played the JP version and had a hard time to really understand the game play and story! But later enjoyed it so much with the english version..
love everything about this game, especially the music. At the character placement screen, It's perfect music for when the good guys get to the scene and the bad guys realize they are going to get ripped a new asshole.
You can recruit monsters in several ways. You can use a mediator and use the talk skill or else use Reis and attack the monsters with her regular attack to a low HP and chances are they'll join you. I think Reis can only use this skill when she's a dragooner.
Yeah, thanks :) I wanted a change rather than the same old Ninja's and Monks that I always use...I thought, why not go for the nobodies this time. Turns out they work pretty well.
Yes you could once upon a time. I have it, it's called a Dexdrive. You can probably find one on Ebay or something, I don't think they sell them new anymore.
Unfortunately, you'll need a "Dexdrive". It's a memorycard converter, which hooks up to your PC, and transfers your playstation or PSone memorycard information to your PC. You'll need that first because the "FFTedit" program is run on your PC only and will need to edit the memorycard information to cheat. Or if you have a PSone emulator, because that works too (you can converter the memorycard information from the emulator just the same).
One good strategy is probably to switch around between Jobs a bit and learn the most important skills; I highly recommend Raise, Paralyze, Haste, Wave Fist, Chakra, Potion and Phoenix Down, those skills make Chapter 1 a lot easier.
I have a save file on my memory card that has ramza at lvl 87, and im still at the very beginning of the game :P I just kept doing random battles over and over at the mandalia plains. Hes got all the best abilities too, including bards move+3 ability.
thats a great ff game. before the final boss you should go through the dungeon thing. u can get a ragnarok excalibur and all powerful chaos sword as well as magic guns.
@cezto999 In the original, it was located on the highest tier in the volcano stage. You need the move find-item ability. idk about the psp version but I imagine it's the same.
Oh I've gotten those type of guns a dozen times, I just didn't have the patience this time around to steal them like I've done before. Again, this round here was just for fun, a quick time through.
I'm playing this game, and I'm overly paranoid of losing so I'm farming XP waaay too much xD I think it's somewhat unusual to have a Bard before you battle Gafragon for the first time (or however it's spelled).
MuaiThaips - Totally forgot about cloud! I had that big Brady FFT book that showed how to unlock him. Unfortunately you can't once you pass a certain point in the story. With no recent game saves close to that point I said screw it and moved on. lol Which also reminds me of how not having a previous game save could screw you royally. Certain battles didn't allow you to prep your team before a battle so you were stuck with whatever equipment they had on. Those battles never did turn out well :(
@guardiane This was my favourite game when I was a kid as well... haven't played it for years though. I can definitely see how it could be annoying without a joystick, I remember playing through the battles at lightning speed on the PS1 hahaha
@mjavor Dark Knight in the psp version owns. Sanguine Sword (Gaffgarion's sword HP Drain move) + having any knightsword equipped = unstoppable, except by undead, but Crushing Blow works (has a chance of inflicting stop). I haven't tried the Onion Knight class, primarily because it doesn't get skills of any kind so meh. I like the Dark Knight class more anyway. I wouldn't mind if they could make another remake of it for the PS3, they could include Paladin, I mean why not? Dark Knight is included.
Final Fantasy Tactics for the PS-One was and still is one of my favourite games of all time. I actually just bought a PSP so I could play it again. My, uh, my PS2 doesn't work anymore lol...
No, it's for a pc emulator. Look at the map screen is all messed up. It's fixed putting all settings to the max on ePSXe emulator, like Frame Buffer settings and draw off screen. Just wonder, why the sound is the thing that is almost emulated with much difference or glitches.

I was wondering what program do you recommend using if I wanted to record Tactics on my comp? Thanks for the great upload and thanks in advance for your time.
Sadly you'll be waiting for a while... In fact we'll probably never see one. But at least those of us with iPhone/iPad are getting this classic ported over pretty soon. This game was truly epic.
yea when i had Agrais master the Calculator, i equipped her with Move JP up but whenever she walks, she only gets about 3 JP. That and it takes longer for her to get to her turn so it rly not that great. What i do is I equip most of my party with Gain JP Up and it gets them 72 JP after a turn. Its a big help
I've found a pretty lethal combination for Ramza. Make him a Knight with squire abilities. 2 swords ability, (chaos blade and excalibur), (blade grasp/Hamedo), recover hp walking. bracer, lords robe, strongest helm. He's at level 45 doing about 700 damage. After a few squire 'screams', he's unstoppable.
Well do you have the FFTedit program? I can send it to you if you don't. You should be able to find it on the web too though. You have to open the memorycard file in the FFTedit program. @asdfgoogle lol, you're so right. Once you get Orlandu and all the other knights the games difficulty runs downhill. The demon bosses were getting destroyed left and right. But before, I would have "oh shit" moments when fighting Wiegraf's demon form or even Gaffgarion, but then I learned about auto-potion and so everyone learned it. This game actually felt like advanced chess and I loved it for that. Hope they bring back the style in the future.
I think it's the hardest Final Fantasy game, because you can never be 100% sure that you will just breeze through it. I usually mess up at the Golgorand Execution Site, but I've discovered that it's easier if you kill the guys at the top first.
Yeah. Like an RPG, you can play it forever, but unlike most where you want to quit once you're at the top, you can battle other players, so you always wanna keep your guys in tip-top shape. (Not sure about other versions, but it does that for the PSP.)
@danielvutran Nah I understand what he means. I love this type of gameplay too where it's very technical and requires a lot of strategy, but at the same time the battle lengths can be quite fatiguing at times.
Like from scratch? No, there is no way to normally get the Holy Knight skill (unless it's a special character that comes with the skill). The only way to get it on a normal character is to cheat by using the "FFTedit" program I mentioned in the video description. If you need more help with that, just let me know.
guys. where can i find materia blade? a website says it can be dug in mount bervenia> but where the hell is mt.bervenia? there's only a town called bervenia in psp version. please help. hahaha \
Also got like a level 55 lancer who can solo a random battle. Hes almost impossible to hit now with his rare eschuechon and hits nice and hard with his rare javelin and to add to his dodge, a feather mantle makes attacks from front and side fall to atmost 20 to 15%. Its soo funny watching him kill one monster after the next with a single attack or jump. Move and Hp up is also a nice plus.
this game i remember came out after FFVII on ps2 and i was so looking forward to it to check it out only to scream- WHAT A LOAD OF WANK and swiftly went in the fkin bin.
I've played this game so many times. God it's nice to see someone else who knows EVERYTHING about this game. For those who didn't know Aeris makes a surprise visit in the side-story when your going to get Cloud.
Ninja: If you wanna pass, leave your money.
Ramza: If you wanna live, fuck off.
This is the greatest game there has ever been. I've played through from begining to end at least 50 times. May St. Ajora save all us sinful children of Ivalice. Amen.
i havent seen this for years.. make me melancholic, still remember the music, the graphics, the game (:
I love how the dialogue fits in with the music in this game. It makes it so epic in these forced episodic battles!
One of the most satisfying games to finally beat. . . . I loved the challenge to this!
After all these years, I still get giddy when I hear this music. Even giddier when I hear those screams of death.

Too bad I lost this game. I really liked it.
Nice gameplay footage. Really makes me want to go grab my copy of the game and play it now. ;) Although, I'm currently playing Vandal Hearts, so I guess I still have my Tactical RPG fix. Are you into any other games of the genre? Like Vandal Hearts, Tactics Ogre, Disgaea, Shining Force, etc?
i got this game six years ago and i still play it. its always as fun as the first time. well maybe the second time
One of the best games I've played for the PSX. One of my favs as well.
I have a device called a "Dexdrive", it's a piece of hardware that attaches to your PC which you plug the memory card into and it'll transfer all the data from your memory card to your PC and vice-versa. I doubt you can find one new anymore, maybe an old used one like on Ebay. If you have an emulator then you don't need to worry about it.
the music is epic. I spent all year trying to have my party master every job. All i need to do now is use Orlandu and Meliadual (sp?)
Yea, even the soundtrack is absolutely amazing. It's my favorite game soundtrack of all time.
i f-ing love this game. have it for ps2, psp, and gbasp. there are no limits to how many times you can play and enjoy it. this vid is super, thanks for asking.
it is SO FUCKING PLEASURABLE hearing the sound of ramza's sword slicing through the flesh, aaaah, good memories...
One of the greatest game indeed....i did not finish the extra adventure where you roam inside a pitch black cave and only crystal of dead person can light up the place...the monsters are just too powerful! Almost cried watching this. By far, the funniest game i've ever played.
They should make another one, maybe FFT2, would enjoy it a lot.
epic game !
one of my all time favorite games no matter how amazing games will come out in the future.
i still own this game and ps1 haha
Yeah, thanks :) I wanted a change rather than the same old Ninja's and Monks that I always use...I thought, why not go for the nobodies this time. Turns out they work pretty well.
such a good game reminds me of when i stayed up all night for two weeks tryign to get through the game!
Yes you could once upon a time. I have it, it's called a Dexdrive. You can probably find one on Ebay or something, I don't think they sell them new anymore.
@Ninjadelusion the 90's were an amazing time for gamers....i miss those days! just beat ruby and emerald weapon the other night :)
you can get any monster through a mediator, and dual weapons are for ninjas only. although they can learn the 2 weapon trick for use with any class.
Unfortunately, you'll need a "Dexdrive". It's a memorycard converter, which hooks up to your PC, and transfers your playstation or PSone memorycard information to your PC. Or if you have a PSone emulator, because that works too (you can converter the memorycard information from the emulator just the same).
@Xyntech06 No it was a regular story line battle but it's been so long I can't quite remember which (I think it may have been in the desert).
One good strategy is probably to switch around between Jobs a bit and learn the most important skills;
I highly recommend Raise, Paralyze, Haste, Wave Fist, Chakra, Potion and Phoenix Down, those skills make Chapter 1 a lot easier.
I miss playing Tactics...and you have a Mediator! They're my favorite class, although mine is a guy lol.
in both ps1 version and gba i couldnt understand what the number a letter at the top left screen was >.
I have a save file on my memory card that has ramza at lvl 87, and im still at the very beginning of the game :P
I just kept doing random battles over and over at the mandalia plains.
Hes got all the best abilities too, including bards move+3 ability.
@ShinXephon thats why i bought a gameshark and just removed the laws, but nothing else. You still get tempted to buff your characters tho
Nice bro. I've never changed Ramza into a ninja, but I can see it works, lol.
thats a great ff game. before the final boss you should go through the dungeon thing. u can get a ragnarok excalibur and all powerful chaos sword as well as magic guns.
Wow. Those archers got some lucky strikes on your monk with arrow guard....
@cezto999
In the original, it was located on the highest tier in the volcano stage. You need the move find-item ability. idk about the psp version but I imagine it's the same.
Oh I've gotten those type of guns a dozen times, I just didn't have the patience this time around to steal them like I've done before. Again, this round here was just for fun, a quick time through.
It's on the PS1 and more recently the PSP. Both are amazing.
It's deep, but not really complicated. Great game, great story. Definitely worth it.
Hey does any of you know that this place can get you the Elemental Guns and the Stone Gun when you come back here for a random battle?
No, it's for a pc emulator. Look at the map screen is all messed up.
It's fixed putting all settings to the max on ePSXe emulator, like Frame Buffer settings and draw off screen.
Just wonder, why the sound is the thing that is almost emulated with much difference or glitches.
What, no Calculators? Those guys were awesome.
Is this still your favorite game today?
I know how you feel after playing the game through multiple times. You just would like to do something to spice it up a bit. I personally gave myself Cloud and Elmdor at the start of the game. Elmdor is like equivalent of Sephiroth in Tactics. Maybe I should start recording some battles in Tactics. I do have a question for you though. I was wondering what program do you recommend using if I wanted to record Tactics on my comp? Thanks for the great upload and thanks in advance for your time.
where could i go to listen to final fantasy music or at least this music?
I used to do that too but half the time the "skills" you could get were crap. It was only on the rare chance they had something worth waiting for.
Sadly you'll be waiting for a while... In fact we'll probably never see one. But at least those of us with iPhone/iPad are getting this classic ported over pretty soon. This game was truly epic.
@Mmmathers4 motion pictures aren't much older, yet the late 20's-50's were considered the golden age of film.
Agreed. I've only used the special chars a few times around...I normally stick to normal characters and build them which ever way I please.
yea when i had Agrais master the Calculator, i equipped her with Move JP up but whenever she walks, she only gets about 3 JP.
OH man this was wonderfully, but i got a question..how do you do to get the soldier and the temple knight jobs?
a multiplayer version of this would be so amazing
I love the noise when a bad guy dies, "RAAHHHH!!!"
Well do you have the FFTedit program? I can send it to you if you don't. You should be able to find it on the web too though. You have to open the memorycard file in the FFTedit program. I believe that the FFTedit program supplies a memorycard save for you as an example or a template to work with. It takes a little time to figure it out but it's really simple.
For a calculator you have to level up certain levels with the mages. Check the faq. A calculator is too slow, it is their 'math skill' on a summoner or black mage that makes them great.
@WinstonFisher Been years, but I think FFVIII begins to pick up at the end of disc 2. Anyways, yeah. FF T is easily the best spin off bar none and does compete with the numbered canon.
I wanna play this game again? Can anyone tell were I can download it?
i loved the fight on the waterfall map, with all the mediator's i think.
I usually mess up at the Golgorand Execution Site, but I've discovered that it's easier if you kill the guys at the top first.
old memories thnks for upload this video (:
Yeah. Like an RPG, you can play it forever, but unlike most where you want to quit once you're at the top, you can battle other players, so you always wanna keep your guys in tip-top shape. (Not sure about other versions, but it does that for the PSP.)
@cerberu1s I say we celebrate with the finest stout mankind has invented...GUINNESS! BRILLIANT!
haha i remember when i was there, my Orlandu probably could take out that whole squad. Btw, this battle song was my favorite, kicks so much ass.
Im an obsolute fan of tactic games. So im really thunking about getting it as it seems great.
@danielvutran Nah I understand what he means. I love this type of gameplay too where it's very technical and requires a lot of strategy, but at the same time the battle lengths can be quite fatiguing at times.

The only way to get it on a normal character is to cheat by using the "FFTedit" program I mentioned in the video description. If you need more help with that, just let me know.
Just started playing this again on my trusty Playstation. One of the best games of all time
Same here...the first time I played it. But after 15-20 times going through the game, I just didn't have the patience anymore lol.
guys. where can i find materia blade? a website says it can be dug in mount bervenia> but where the hell is mt.bervenia? there's only a town called bervenia in psp version. please help. hahaha
\
at first glance i thought the vampire cat was a rattata in your formation
Also got like a level 55 lancer who can solo a random battle. this game i remember came out after FFVII on ps2 and i was so looking forward to it to check it out only to scream- WHAT A LOAD OF WANK and swiftly went in the fkin bin.
i remember my ramza was a chemist with Guts(Squire), Counter(Monk), Two swords(Ninja), Teleport(Time mage)
Thanks for the info. I'll look into those.
