I love how when k39 sees his hologram self, it calls him k39 at first but when it convinces him how fun and human he was tonight he then calls him his human name kevin
I love K-39/Kevin's body language in this. Up until his "awakening," you see him sort of just shuffling and moving his shoulders with his arms at his sides while the others are dancing. After he has his little existential revelation, though, he fully joins in and starts properly dancing with the others.
It's just you. He's always been this glorious, you're just discovering more of it the more you watch. It's not that he's getting sexier, it's just that he's not as sexy as he first appears (he's sexier)

@@N10A my god at the end when emu-bot gets blasted he gets sent back in time to the large hadron collider. It all makes sense now how could I have been so blind
My headcanon is that Kevin's body is later recovered and modified by the human resistance to become the funkiest robot known to man or computer kind, then sent back in time and space. The problem is, he just confuses everyone because no one can concive of a future where a computer government outlaws dancing of all things. Basically terminator 2 if he had saxes in place of his genitals and just danced instead of doing anything useful.
@@N10A I think this is the future Funkbot 10,000 was trying to save us from, but he miscalculated and showed up a bit early (But I also love your theory and I hope Mr Emu blesses us with more lore from this universe)
I think it's the opposite. You Can't Make Me Dance is the sequel to D.H.A.R.N.T.Z. Hear me out, ok. The DHARNTZ resistance manages to stop the AI government, and as a result the new government makes everyone dance in order to stop the AI from coming back, and making those who don't want to dance to be shrunken down and used as puppets so they can dance as well. In fact it seems that K39 survived and took over, as all the people in "You Can't Make Me Dance" are copies of K39. They can't be clones of Jazz Emu, as he died in 2085 by jumping out of a spaceship and being absorbed into the msn messenger dimension. In fact it seems like the JECU (Jazz Emu Cinematic Universe) leads to an end of music.
This dystopian situation needs a hero who can bring humans and robots together. If only there was a funky robot who could soothe everyone with some good old fashioned saxophone and marimba music!
Now, at first glance it may feel jarring that the spirit of the club refers to the singer as both K-39 and Kevin, HOWEVER if you see it as addressing the bot first from the role that it's playing (arbiter of judgement and destruction), and then by its "living" name, the role that it feels the most joy experiencing (a groovy being that just wants to DHARNTZ!!!). Change is most possible when you address both fear and joy, one after the other. In this essay I will
Personal headcanon: DHARNTZ and Funkbot 10,000 are not prequels to each other, but part of a time loop. Funkbot 10,000 was sent back in time by the resistance from DHARNTZ to stop the Government Computer from illegalizing dancing. The problem is that he was sent too early, so when he went around offering funky music as the solution to people's problems and found that it didn't work, he became angry with his own programming and *became* the Government Computer because obviously, in Funkbot's mind dancing was supposed to fix everything but he now thinks that it's the answer to nothing.
The production on this video is incredible! The design, the lighting, the choreography... the shots during the bridge of K39/Kevin! 2:182:28 and 2:34 - beautiful. I high key love the robot design. Shoutout to Hunter Allen, the director!
This is definitely going in my "Top 5 songs about a corrupt civilization not allowing people to get down" playlist along with,Footloose,6969 and safety dance along with surprisingly a lot more and if your thinking that "safety dance doesn't fit that exact set of circumstances because it doesn't depict a corrupt civilization" then you're wrong because any restrictions on dance that brings panic to ones peers are part of a civilization that I could never be a part of

Humans have the power to redefine our own symbols on the fly, deciding that a different spelling means the thing in a way the machines cannot keep up with
Guys the binary is 27 which in the ascii table refers to ESC, so maybe he was trying to tell them to escape? Dunno why he would do it in the way the other robots would understand but still, that's just a theory
I do believe that this has just won all of the awards, all of them, including but not limited to best music video, the Nobel prize, and best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression.
