I’m overweight myself. Am I proud of it? No. Do I expect others to cater to my poor self control? No. I actually make an effort to lose weight. That woman is full of shit.
@@christinalittleton5773 I saw that video yesterday from this aussie guy and that was ridiculous. We can't decorate our houses for Christmas because not everybody celebrates Christmas and some people can't afford to decorate their houses? Everything's racist to them and it really does seem like they want to be a victim. Like Candace Owens (pres 2024) said, "When did it become cool to be a victim?"
its because medical studies before the 80s genuinely believed that the melanin in black peoples skin meant they could endure more injuries, which lead to pregnant black women having to give birth without any pain medication, as well as how, until recent years, medical charts and photo examples didnt show how infections and things would look on darker skin, so poc ended up getting misdiagnosed a lot. medical racism is real and still is a thing. im not sure how the person in the video was trying to connect racism to the bmi but i believe they just connected medical racism to bmi subconsciously.
@@noneya1238 i agree, absolutely. they probably thought the more gen z keywords they use in the video, the more aupport the post will get, which is unfortunate

I feel like maybe in the beginning it was meant to pull people out of the depression that led to their gaining weight so that they would become more motivated to change it. But I don't think it's working. I think people are using it as an excuse to not exercise.. which is essential to the human body.. a body at rest stays at rest, a body in motion stays in motion. Being obese can cut your life short and hold you back from living your best life.
Bmi is an outdated method for fitness, someone who is very muscular who is short can be identified as obese even though they are obviously healthy and not at the risk of obesity
Side note: I just dislike anyone holding their microphone like that. It seems equivalent to when a person who doesn't typically wear glasses, wears glasses, and begins speaking studiously 😂
BMI actually has a lot to do with race and does indeed lead to racial biases and inadequacies in medical treatment, but to call its use "racist" in general is a bit of a stretch. The average BMI was calculated by using only Europeans, specifically Belgians, and isn't an appropriate tool for all races. If you recall any elementary statistics, you need a representative sample group, and this is only representative of Belgians, not humans. It is now becoming increasingly common for doctors to use a BMI chart that accounts for race/ethnicity. If you're not understanding this and simply see it as the crazy left and body positivity folks, consider this: Imagine if the average BMI had been collected on Indians. For Europeans, a healthy BMI ranges from 19-24.9, but for Indians, it ranges from 16-21.9. Using rhe average height for American men (5'9") and women (5'4"), this means they'd be considered overweight at 149 lbs and 128 lbs. You can clearly see that would not be an appropriate tool for most Americans. To further illustrate this example: I have a South Asian friend with a BMI of 14.9. She looks very proportionate and fit, just very petite. She even has old-lady arm wings and jiggly thighs. My daughter, however is of European descent. She is 5'3" and 82 lbs (BMI of 14.5). You can see her ribs, protruding hip bones, etc. If we used the Indo BMI scale, my daughter would not be labeled as "severely underweight" but rather simply as "underweight" and she would likely not get the necessary medical intervention.
As someone who's now overweight due to a medication dose Dr error and who's going to the gym to be healthy, I have said and will always say, love yourself enough to become the most healthy and the best you that you can be. Even if you don't have health problems now and you're overweight, you will get them. Diabetes is one that you don't want to have while being overweight. No you can't get it from eating too much sweets and starches but, you can get it from eating so much that you become overweight and the weight causes your body to not produce the insulin you need and it's gonna become that much harder to lose weight at that point. I know I've had diabetes since I Was a kid since it runs in the family and now that I've become overweight and my pancreas working even harder it's becoming really hard to lose weight. It was bad enough I had the odds stacked against me since the medicine can cause it very hard to lose weight. Not to mention these people can get fatty heart, plugged arteries etc. Having a heart attack before you turn 30 due to obesity is not loving yourself. It's slowly killing yourself at a faster rate than life would normally kill you. These are the same fucking people that dragged lizzo and others for going on a diet and exercise to lose weight. It's disgusting.
Xeno, the level of enthusiasm that you maintain in your voice during your videos is so strong that it makes me cry every time. You sound so god damn excited that I just can't stand it anymore!
BMI actually IS ineffective in some cases. I'm 186cm and 105kg. (6'1 and 230) this puts me in the obese range. However: I'm currently 21.2% body fat with a 75kg muscle mass. Gym 5 days a week. Muscle weighs more than fat, so BMI isn't a perfect system
21% fat range actually is a little on the high side depending on your age. Just saying. Maybe at 6'1, about 210 would be better. But there is no way the woman in the video is in the same boat as you.
@@paghal11 yes it is, I'm definitely not the pinnacle of fitness - however, I'm getting pretty jacked if i don't say so myself. I uploaded a clip of me repping 6x120 deadlift - i couldn't have done 60kg this time last year 🤣

I remember there was a way to detect who's got more muscle and more fat, back when I did PE in my freshman year of HS, the teacher would have a thing to pinch behind the leg to figure out if they have more fat or more muscle
I too don't know where this woman got her info, but I do know when a blood cuff is too small it doesn't give an inaccurate reading- it pops off your arm and you get no reading! BTW, telling an obese person to lose weight all you have to do is eat less and go to the gym is as helpful as telling a drug addict all they have to do is quit taking drugs.
I’ve had the experience of not being able to fit in a shirt at target. It’s embarrassing. An xxl was too small and I’m 5’7” and 145 pounds. My chest size is my grandma’s fault, not mine
It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible. It’s not easy to write an essay, but it’s definitely possible. Not easy to eat healthy and workout, but very much possible. Stop being lazy, and go for it. Or, stop complaining when people call you fat. Either fix yourself, or fix your attitude. Either way, you need to make the change.
@@mebob8419 hm while you almost have it, its still not being lazy if people cannot lose weight. I know people and am personally someone whose been to dieticians, whose ate nothing but healthy food, whose worked out pushing myself past my limit in hopes I would see a change. but I never did. I'm sure its possible for me to lose weight, but from experience, I will not let myself be called lazy and that I didn't try. because I did and still nothing worked. while some people might be "lazy" you cannot categorize every overweight person as someone who could lose weight and just doesn't try, because that is so wrong.
Actually I have to give her a point on BMI being racist...at least kind of...like it was created by white people for white people. Black, brown and people from the Middle East tend to have bigger and heavier bones and therefore are easily considered to be overweight (like myself even though we can see my bones which is something worrying my parents, husband and friends I’m still considered to be overweight looking at the BMI) and East Asian people tend to be counted as way too skinny... But of course if you get so fat that a 4XL doesn’t fit you or that you can’t sit in a chair at a hospital then you may have to do something about your weight because these things are already made to fit a wide range of people!
It’s funny how this lady demands things to be done to private businesses. If she doesn’t like it then for her to make her damn own cloths. This is an example of a child mindset of blaming others instead of themselves

I will give you that these are stupid things for her to demand the doctors do. But not everyone is fat because they eat unhealthy food, some have thyroid problems. Some people cannot afford the healthy food they need to stay thin. I love your channel and everything, just wanted to put this out there as someone who was in the medical field.
You just gotta take in a few things like family history, metabolisms, financial state (cause of healthy food has to be more expensive 🙄), and so much more it's not just cause they're lazy, and weight isn't only fat like me, I'm more muscle! And well muscle weighs more than fat so ofc I'm gonna be heavier I will say I have lost weight due to a diet because of medical issues but I'm happy because I was overweight but I'm healthy now! Thank you. I wanted to say that too. Not everyone is overweight due to eating junk food. Eveyone has a different body than the other. There is no one side fits all in the humN body. In medical school I had to use a blood pressure cuff for a leg on an obese patient's arm and they were so offended. I'm fat and disabled. Those are my own problems, not everyone elses. You can make fun of me for those reasons but I would never consider it a racist attack. GTFOH
We use BMI to calculate how much fluid volume to resuscitate with while combating sepsis. And all healthcare facilities have bariatric equipment cuz 70 percent of all Americans are obese. Cut down on processed foods increase cardio and weight training from zero to at least 20mins a day at least there days a week
I understand your criticism that the lady may not have direct evidence for her arguments. But she is right in certain areas. In general one can say that the BMI is arbitrary. In addition, the standard value of the BMI when it was introduced tended to follow the example of the white man. There are, for example, studies that show that black women are more likely to be diagnosed with a supposedly unhealthy BMI, even though they are completely healthy. Also, and without wanting to offend you, I find it a bit narrow-minded to portray obesity and related problems as a voluntary decision of those suffering from it. Of course you can say that you should just go on a diet and exercise more, but that's not necessarily possible for everyone. I take the subject of the pressure armband as an example. The standard size of the same is also adapted to a "normal" body. If you do not have this body and you are not offered alternatives that are tailored to you, then in my opinion you can speak of discrimination.
Ok, yes the BMI is weird. Also, in most cases being fat can be changed, and is voluntary. Although, they may not want o be fat, but they continue to make actions that cause this effect.
I don’t understand people like this woman. I’m fat. I’ve never eaten Hagen Dazs by accident. Pizza has never just fallen into my mouth. My weight is my own doing. I don’t expect the world to accommodate me because of my bad decisions.
I don't want to get into the whole white private argument but if there was a definition this would be it. Blatantly spinning off a non racial issue as racism for ur own cause and in a way to take the blame off your self does no good. It just makes racism seem more broad and therefore pulling it more and more further from the real problem. if i worded this wrong feel free to correct me :)
So your saying stop calling everything racist because it detracts from actual racism? You would think adults would understand that. But it's all agenda driven sadly😔
It's been proven that quick walking, not speed, simply a quick pace for a mile, burns more calories than running a mile. There's also less damage to the knees and other joints. Asking the doctor to find out why you can't lose weight if you've adjusted your diet and adopted an exercise program is the best use of your MDs time & your money for the appointment. I've no clue how BMI =any of the isms. Sounds like a cop out, excuse, victim mentality to me. 💙
Ambulances and ER's have a big Bp cuff they use on a patients thigh. If her arm is bigger than that, well I don't know what she can do. P.s. paramedics can do a palpated pressure? In an emergency.
While the BMI isn't 100% accurate due to many genetic factors playing into metabolism, heridity of bone structure/build, weight, and muscle mass, that doesn't mean it's racist. It's inaccurate NOT racist. Also while clothing doesn't fit everyone's body type/shape, you can learn how to sew or get your clothes tailored/fitted which isn't expensive. I'm short and wear petite length pants that occasionally still need to be hemmed and I can take like 10 pairs of jeans to get hemmed for like $30-$40 total at any of the dry cleaners located near me, they honestly don't charge much for this. I learned how to sew simple adjustments to make my clothes sit more comfortably and work with my body shape. If I can't do something I ask my grandmother to help me because she was a seamstress and has made me custom clothing throughout the years that are a little too out of my range of skill to make myself. Learning simple clothing hacks is beneficial for everyone and it's also beneficial to have a healthy diet and be open minded unlike many of the people within the body positivity movement.
BMI is not only inaccurate in terms of not only muscle/fat ratio to determine health but between races as well Every race is affected by different factors of life, lifestyle, culture, environment etc So your telling me because my entire family is a little on the big side and its difficult for us to lose weight What should we do?? Go on a water diet for the rest of our lives?? Did you know that certain body types are considered unhealthy when they lose weight?
I’m used to being super skinny and now I’m 43 and can’t just eat what I want, when I want, and how much. But I’m still at a healthy weight and my only health conditions are epilepsy and migraines which I’m going to have to deal with no matter how much I weigh. I just have to take medication. My husband likes that I have a butt now 🤩
The BMI index is kind of messed up. To be "healthy" at my height, I should weigh less than 120 pounds. You'd literally be able to see my joints and ribcage at that weight....
It might be racist if there are race differences in things like muscle mass. BMI tells body builders they are obese, even in the cutting phase where their body fat is something like under 5% of their body weight (which is actually dangerously low, according to the American Council on Exercise). That being said, that woman is clearly obese & BMI would be a good heuristic for her to measure her health, and I don't think muscle mass varies enough between races for it to matter. Edit: Or actually that would make BMI exactly the opposite of racist, since it doesn't take into account differences in race. Edit 1: 2:06 They do actually have equipment that woould work on her at the Zoo, since they have to measure the blood pressure of elephants, Zebras etcetera. Sometimes Doctors actually have to bring obese patients to the Zoo to get weighed on elephant scales.
I’m SMI and have spiraled into depression the last three years. I’m finally starting to feel better and I realize how much weight I’ve put on. It’s almost enough to send me back into a depression, but I don’t FEEL good anymore. I used to be decently fit, now I’m out of breath doing the simplest things. Whose fault is it? Societies? McDonald’s? Depression? Nah, it’s mine because. And I’m smart enough to know that. I hate people like this. Overweight people don’t need more excuses given to them about why they don’t need to lose weight.
As an overweight person, it annoys me when other fat people try to glorify obesity. Stop being lazy and lose some weight! Oh yeah and I’m writing this at the gym.
I would just like to say a great way to be an ally to fat people is to be encouraging about our weight loss/health journey not enabling shitty behaviors.
There was an article somewhere with the BMI tests done a whole rugby team all of them shown up as obese. So the BMI is kinda missleading in a way. I fail it every year lol.
The medical profession does indeed have bigger cuffs and larger chairs\beds. Her requests did help expand the limited fat perceptions out there & educate anyone on being overweight. The BMI is accurate with some exceptions and recent overall adjustments. Not everyone fits tightly into a categorized chart but your doctor can make the necessary adjustments for your unique build. To just say quit eating garbage also shows a lack of understanding. There are as many reasons as there are vices to be insensitive to overweight people by just assuming it's just that easy. Even if you are addicted to jacking off, being an abusive asshole, talking mean & negative crap, smoking, drinking, kissing ass, money, vaginas or penises, or chocolate. Short , fat , or in between your all fucked.
This guy Xenoshot really wanted to talk about “ I’m not an American, their portions are so large..” dude you’re Canadian. Canada’s obesity statistics match those in the U.S & their portions aren’t much different either 🤦♂️ 🙄
Did anyone notice how she said that the blood pressure equipment gives false HIGH readings because it is too tight? Is it possible that the readings are high because high blood pressure is a complication of obesity, and not because of the cuff's size? Sounds to me like yet another argument rooted in denial that morbid obesity has health repercussions. I am not a specialist in medical equipment for measuring blood pressure so if any of you are, let me know if such a thing is plausible.
Possible? Sure of course. But that just makes it even more necessary. Imagine that you had a thermometer that worked perfectly when you didn't have a fever. But when your temperature is slightly raised, the thermometer wasn't accurate. You know you have a fever but is it 100° or 104°? How can you even track your fever to see if the medicine is working if you get a reading of 105° and then 98.6° a moment later? This is the problem. It's not enough to simply know "that" you have hypertension. You need to track it, monitor it, test the effectiveness of medication. Also - if you are obese and have hypertension, you can't "just" start walking. That could literally kill you. I have a normal BMI but I have unregulated BP. When I lay down, my BP is around 100/70 but after standing for 10 minutes, my BP is around 180/150 (crisis levels). This is with 3 different daily BP meds. I have to monitor my BP every time I stand for more than a few minutes. If I were obsese, I'd be no less deserving of appropriate medical care.
Ok just my two cents (long sorry), coming from someone that’s always struggled with my weight (I’m not obese. I’m definitely overweight but I’ve experienced the difficulties of losing a significant amount of weight and keeping it off): firstly obesity is not always a choice. Fat and sugar (especially sugar) are designed to be addictive. Research has shown that sugar activates the same parts of the brain that cocaine does. So if someone becomes addicted to sugar it’s going to be extremely hard to quit. Exercise is not always possible for some people. Especially if they have gained weight to the point where they can barely move. This is also discounting the affect of mental illness. Someone with depression might not even have the energy to get out of bed or cook healthy food for themselves. It’s a vicious cycle and it’s incredibly hard to break. As for body positivity, I agree that health is extremely important and that people who are very overweight should try to lose weight for health reasons. But just as weight gain doesn’t happen overnight, weight loss doesn’t happen overnight either. It’s also harder to do and happens much slower than weight gain. No one at any size should feel ashamed that clothes don’t fit them. Everyone has the right to feel beautiful. I don’t think it’s fair to shame someone or tell them it’s their fault that they’re in that situation because you don’t know if they’re trying to change it or what struggles they’re facing in trying to do it. As far as the medical field goes, I think it’s quite similar. Obesity is a pandemic in America. Making the country healthier is going to take a long time, but for now since there’s a hell of a lot of people struggling with weight problems it makes sense to try to accommodate them especially in a medical environment where they might be seeking help in order to lose weight. The BMI thing doesn’t take into account medical conditions such as lymphedema which causes extreme water retention for example. Also, as others have suggested, it does actually have racist roots. According to HuffPost: “the scale was created using data from predominantly European men to measure weight in different populations...the thin bodies of northern and western Europeans were upheld as the ideal, while the often larger bodies of eastern and southern Europeans, as well as Africans, were considered signs of their inferiority.” www.google.com/amp/s/www.huffpost.com/entry/bmi-scale-racist-health_l_5f15a8a8c5b6d14c336a43b0/amp
Just to shed some light from the perspective of us fatties, most do know to exercise and eat less, but it’s not as easy for some people, and many of us will work out daily and go on diets and even have surgery so we can’t overeat but it still is a problem. So in the meantime as we struggle it would be nice to have large blood pressure cuffs at the drs as we can’t instantly get small. I for one get it and even though we may discus you and even ourselves I’ve never met a fat adult who isn’t bigger because of how they are treated, no one get told to go to the gym or not to eat the same thing you ordered at the same restaurant you are at and been like “wow what an idea! I never thought of this” they probably think of it daily Finally the racist thing is that it was made by the ratio of healthy white males and females and so it’s racist as bone and muscle structure of other races those off the curve, but there are other less racist ways to manage weight. Anyways I doubt anyone goes to comments to be companionate or hear other views but just incase the op reads this I’m a big fan but it sounds like you haven’t had to spend half your life spending most of every day working at just to be regular fat and treated like it’s your own fault by everyone, I think that’s the draw for the body positive movement, I still work at it because it would suck to die at 50 or 60 but it’s doesn’t feel good to spend hours and hours a day, and in the end people just call you a fat pig anyways, what’s funny is the times I gave up I don’t get as many rude commits and hate from regular people, they usually only make the comments when your focusing on health
I agree with you most of the time, but this time in particular I think you're kinda misunderstanding and misrepresenting her point. She doesn't say that "fat people are a race". BMI is outdated and yes, racist, because the system was created in the mid-late 1800's to measure the weight of a population, and that population was entirely white and mostly male. Despite it's creator saying that it's not meant to be used on individuals, the system as we know it today was reintroduced in 1972 and has been used since. The system is in itself inefficient because it doesn't even take into consideration muscle mass, as someone who's just fit could have a higher BMI than someone who's truly obese. But when we take into consideration that it's population-level not individual-level, that all the people used to develop the system were white and that different etnicities tend to store fat in different ways, you can say that yes, using BMI so generally is racist :/ I probably wouldn't agree with her in other topics, but I'm not someone who ignores and discredits arguments just because I don't agree with the political opinions of the person who has them.
As someone who is overweight because of a medical condition (PCOS)… it’s not as easy as eating right and going to the gym. I will not lose an ounce by eating healthy because of this condition. I have to eat consistently low carb to get anywhere with weight loss. So there is some ignorance in just telling people to eat less but then again a lot of doctors don’t know much about PCOS so the information hasn’t gotten out enough. But that being said, I’m always striving to lose weight as I know my current weight isn’t healthy and the whole fat entitlement that some of these people have is pretty gross
Luckily Covid will clean out most of the fat problems in the world... :) Nature solving the problems of humans again... Sorry, Mother nature, we apparently can't take care of ourselves yet. Please keep helping us.
Race is part of BMI. They have different points in the BMI for blacks than as whites. There are other issues with BMI, it doesn't take into account muscle. You can be a top athlete with perfect body but the BMI will rate the same BMI for a not so healthy person. So yes, rid of the BMI
There is some sensible background behind some of what she says. The range of easily accessible clothes in ordinary retail is totally different for men and women. There are plenty of boutiques that don't sell more than a size 8, dept stores don't even necessarily carry larger bras for larger bust sizes, even for small women. (Or talk to very tall women or women who wear large shoe sizes too.) BMI is recognized as a very flawed measure and medical research has raised reasons that have to do with race/ethnicity, though probably not calling it "racist." (A simple search gets results from Mayo, Newsweek, Harvard School of Public Health, Reuters and other non-tiktok sources.)
between fourth and fifth grade i had a massive growth spurt and was at least a foot taller than every other girl in my grade, 40lbs heavier, and basically had a grown adult's skeleton by the time i was 11, haven't grown an inch since then. 5th grade the school took our BMI and claimed that i, the already insecure prepubescent girl who was being teased for their size, was in the 90th percentile and near obesity so long story short i've been anorexic for 9 years, got addicted to amphetamine and gave myself hypoglycemia. but truly i owe the BMI my life because it made me both hot and insane
I used to wear 6-8xl. It WAS all my fault. I now wear a 2XLT, cause I’m 6’ 7”, after losing 250lbs. My dr says I’m the perfect size even though bmi claims I’m a bit overweight
No one should encourage others to be fat. I was fat as a kid, and I F*CKIN HATE IT. I was always tired, I didn't feel good and I was sick all the time. Now, I control how I eat, I give myself a break taking care of myself, I drink alot of water and I feel content.
BMI hasn't been around for "hundreds of years." The modern term "body mass index" (BMI) for the ratio of human body weight to squared height was coined in a paper published in the July 1972 edition of the Journal of Chronic Diseases by Ancel Keys. She didn't come up with "BMI is racist" - It has been argued to be racist in lots of places because they only data inputs to determine the calculations came from white European men. It doesn't consider differences in genders and how weight is carried, and it can't make a distinction between fat and muscle. There are body builders who meet the "obese" category. Data to derive the scale should have been all genders from around the world. It's janky bad science and that wouldn't be a big deal if insurance and laws were not based on it. Not saying that an accurate body mass calculator couldn't exist, but this one gets a C minus. Also, why do I have to watch you aimlessly play a video game?
i apologize if i offend anyone or turn out "racist" but please can someone answer me how the hell the BMI is racist and how saying "Merry Christmas" is supporting white supremacy? (first clip and the post shown in the first clip) and when did these become an act of racism?
Ive always been really small, but I completely get tht for many overweight people, they have an emotional/mental issue, not just an unwillingness to work out or lose weight. Saying "just lose weight " is like telling a depressed person to stop being sad. In my opinion it's bullshit that heavier people end up paying more for things like shirts because more fabric is used. NO ONE LOVES BEING overweight. They might be ok with themselves, but I'm sure they are aware, it's not a simple fix. What's wrong with making people feel accepted? Like instead of charging more for bigger shirts, just charge more in general.... And hospitals SHOULD be equipped with materials for bigger people. Weather there is an "easy" solution to obesity or not, the fact remains, that there are a lot of obese americans. You can't just ignore that fact, and pretend like everyone is a healthy weight. SHe is a touch extreme, but I get where she is coming from. For many being overweight is no different than being anorexic. Telling them to excersize and eat better, doesn't do shit. if they were emotionally capable of that, they wouldn't be overweight. I mean do people think folks just get huge on purpose?
That tiktoker's way of thinking reminds of the the Pixar movie Wall-E. She might as well say we are going into space to defy all gravity so everythone will be fat.

its because medical studies before the 80s genuinely believed that the melanin in black peoples skin meant they could endure more injuries, which lead to pregnant black women having to give birth without any pain medication, as well as how, until recent years, medical charts and photo examples didnt show how infections and things would look on darker skin, so poc ended up getting misdiagnosed a lot. medical racism is real and still is a thing. im not sure how the person in the video was trying to connect racism to the bmi but i believe they just connected medical racism to bmi subconsciously.

lmfaoo, How does the bmi chart have anything to do with race?
Words like “racism” and “discrimination” lost their meaning in recent years.
@@batspidey7611 I disagree. White people just wish it would.
If you're not understanding this and simply see it as the crazy left and body positivity folks, consider this:
Imagine if the average BMI had been collected on Indians.

BMI is only ineffective if youre ripped

I don't want to get into the whole white private argument but if there was a definition this would be it. Blatantly spinning off a non racial issue as racism for ur own cause and in a way to take the blame off your self does no good. It just makes racism seem more broad and therefore pulling it more and more further from the real problem.

Fat isn't a race.
BMI is not only inaccurate in terms of not only muscle/fat ratio to determine health but between races as well
Every race is affected by different factors of life, lifestyle, culture, environment etc
So your telling me because my entire family is a little on the big side and its difficult for us to lose weight
What should we do?? Go on a water diet for the rest of our lives??
Did you know that certain body types are considered unhealthy when they lose weight?
I’m used to being super skinny and now I’m 43 and can’t just eat what I want, when I want, and how much. I love my body that is why I have to keep it fit. Avoiding to make is fit and giving excuses actually is hating your body.
The BMI index is kind of messed up. To be "healthy" at my height, I should weigh less than 120 pounds. You'd literally be able to see my joints and ribcage at that weight....
Yeah, BMI isn’t always realistic because people carry weight differently, but it’s far from racist lol. I look at it as more of a guideline.
@@alterego2978 yes, like an average but not an exact
Ignoring race and "not seeing color" is not "not racist."

According to HuffPost: “the scale was created using data from predominantly European men to measure weight in different populations...the thin bodies of northern and western Europeans were upheld as the ideal, while the often larger bodies of eastern and southern Europeans, as well as Africans, were considered signs of their inferiority.”

I never thought of this” they probably think of it daily
Finally the racist thing is that it was made by the ratio of healthy white males and females and so it’s racist as bone and muscle structure of other races those off the curve, but there are other less racist ways to manage weight.
But when we take into consideration that it's population-level not individual-level, that all the people used to develop the system were white and that different etnicities tend to store fat in different ways, you can say that yes, using BMI so generally is racist :/
I probably wouldn't agree with her in other topics, but I'm not someone who ignores and discredits arguments just because I don't agree with the political opinions of the person who has them.
She’s saying the bmi is racist. She’s also criticizing literally everything about doctor checkups because it’s fat phobic.
It should be “Fat people NEED to race.”
Nature solving the problems of humans again...
Out of all the languages in the world he choose to speak nothing but hard facts
Chairs without arms in every room is the worst idea ever thought up
Yeah, I would feel uncomfortable sitting next to someone without something blocking me from direct contact
It takes a real dedication to bad food to become the size of a house. The same dedication to exercise is never applied.
I mean the BMI is pretty useless for adults. Its all about where and how you cary the weight.
"please change the sizes of things so I don't need to exercise"
where i live right now, it's looked down upon to exercise outside of a gym, which is incredibly dumb and sad
between fourth and fifth grade i had a massive growth spurt and was at least a foot taller than every other girl in my grade, 40lbs heavier, and basically had a grown adult's skeleton by the time i was 11, haven't grown an inch since then.
Your fkn titles man, so good- was laughing before even clicking, it's unfortunately one of those laughs at recognition... how are these people real?
Im going to go to my local +size store and ask them to expand it, honestly the audacity to not have 16XXL is mind boggling
i apologize if i offend anyone or turn out "racist" but please can someone answer me how the hell the BMI is racist and how saying "Merry Christmas" is supporting white supremacy?
The BMI that has been used for hundreds of years..........um, no my dude.
That tiktoker's way of thinking reminds of the the Pixar movie Wall-E. She might as well say we are going into space to defy all gravity so everythone will be fat.
Duper's delight, you can see it in the smile and eyes.
and that’s why there are different sized blood pressure cuffs…
