As the great Nye Bevan said, "The genius of the Tories is to convince people to vote against their own interests. " Some of these people shouldn't be let out alone.
His comparison between tories and vermin was also on the nose
@@bestbehave That's unfair on vermin, sir
Spot on my friend, they have been brain washed by Rupert Murdoch, Just like America, this country is being taken over by right wing fascists. And they don't even recognise it, they have been hypnotised by the small boats. 😂😂😂.....
If you lie often enough and for long enough, people will believe it. This strategy more often than not works, and the Tories and right wing are fully aware of this.
Yes Nye Bevan said there will always be a NHS if the people fight to retain it
Notice the word fight
Bevan knew then that there would be politicians Tories the elite who would destroy it for their own financial gain.
Boy was Bevan 100% spot on.
Yet the citizens will give their vote to Tories and Reform the very people who are destroying our public services and then complain our services are not there.
Do they not think what is going to happen to the future life and living of their own children and grand children? Not to forget their own quality quantity of living
Oh an astounding percentage of citizens are taking away decreasing their own lifestyle themselves. If not that have been somehow brain washed hooked lined and sinkered by our corrupt politicians, media and press. What a gravely sad state it is indeed.
Not liking the French is ok, I am French. But not liking the French won’t get you a dentist appointment faster.
Well said!
Brilliant... but that wasn't on the side of that red bus...😀😀😀
French are great, we just have some poor areas in the UK who are in denial about why they have it so bad.
I love the French as a Dutch man, Parisians not so much, but the French themselfes are so smart, classy and well manered
The migrants don't seem to like France either, by the rate they are are leaving Calais.
That first woman... good lord. The pause before sheepishly admitting she voted Tory... She KNOWS she's a turkey who votes for Christmas. She fucking KNOWS. But she does it anyway...
We can blame politicians all we like and, in most cases, it is appropriate to do so. But the people who KNOW the damage the Tories are doing and yet continue to vote for them regardless... They are equally culpable for the shitshow we are living through.
They are even more culpable, because without their vote the Tory idiots won't even have a chance for their shenanigans.
YES.
So labour are the answer 😂
@@Norfolkandchance886 They are not the only answer, but they are the answer most likely to have any chance of succeeding against the Tory English.
@@oldishandwoke-ish1181 I'm not interested in just keeping the torries out. They are both the same. I do manual labour. So why would I vote for Labour?
I am German who used to live in the UK. I have a British wife, and I have always been an Anglophile. Somehow Brexit felt personal, like the country I loved just flicked two fingers at me. Listening to this man who says he hates the French (and most certainly us Germans as well) confirms for me what Brexit was really about for many. It is sad.
The funny (or not so funny) thing about it is that while Europeans left the UK en masse, the immigration from countries such as Afghanistan and India has massively increased. I am sure that gentleman in the video will be absolutely delighted about that.
Not sure. Germans are the only continentals the English do not despise (and actually fear).
So agree with u. The voted to remove white pple of similar religion to allow the pple they don't like in. Please remember, however, Scotland and NI voted to remain.
People were lied to, the vast majority of people in the UK aren't racist (I hope). Lot's of people here regret voting to leave, but there will always be a small minority with too much pride to admit it, despite all the evidence. The whole situation is an embarrasment for the UK. Hope you don't hate us!

@russcattell955i I want to rejoin, but frankly, the only way to get back in permanently is to tie ourselves so deeply with the eu that leaving again would be impossible. We need to rejoin even if we lose the pound, so it's a loss I'm prepared for
I disagree, I think the economic benefits would mean they would let us in. They aren't stupid and I think would like us back in because we did actually play a big part in formulating laws and providing stability.
I do think it can only happen when there is a next big treaty though, which won't be for sure some time and will only be done once the whole population realises we need our biggest and nearest trading partners for our economy to grow, just like happened before we joined in the 70s.
@@mattpotter8725 As an EU citizen yer dreaming mate. Britain's economy is in a long-term decline and is of no real benefit to the rest of the bloc. The immigrants, homeless, disabled, unemployed etc are great scapegoats to divert from from the tories incompetence and self serving actions!!
At the time of the vote, I was going to vote Leave, simply because I was more patriotic when I was younger. I thought that we should be more in control of our own laws and I didn't want us to switch to the Euro.
All I did, upcoming to the day, was watch a few videos on RUclips by economists, socialists, environmentalists, when I learned all about what the EU actually was and how it is benefitting our country. The biggest revelation was discovering how much money they designated to Cornwall and other such areas ignored by London. The next biggest revelation that changed my mind to vote Remain, was listening to one economist/professor's speech explaining THE BASIC MATH. If Brexit was to happen, it would be devastating to us in the short-term and will only get better (probably) within the next 50 years... Simply because we were so tied up in the EU it would take many years to heal from breaking from it. Basically, we just started reaping the benefits of being in the EU since 2000 as it took all these years from when we joined for those benefits to bloom.
So... I didn't want to vote for something that would not only ruin my life in this country, but would also ruin my children's lives. Perhaps my grandchildren will see better days... But perhaps not. The risk was too high.
Again, all I did was a little bit of research. One good speech by a person who KNOWS how the economy works. If we only listened to our experts more... Instead of these celebrity politicians.
If you were young at the time, you were relatively freshly out of school.
Flabbergasting to me that you could have been in school recently and not know at least in rough terms what the EU is..while living in an EU member state..
Why patriotism is stupid:
Fair play for the honesty. And you’d have been right about the Euro, though I never thought Britain would join it anyway, too much to be lost by the wealthy classes. The referendum itself - what leave really meant - was too loosely defined, and has led to the modern morass - “this isn’t the Brexit I voted for” - where a lot of leave voters thought they were voting for a Norway type deal, while others thought they could just forget about Europe entirely but still retire to Benidorm, and yet more just wanted to get immigrants out. But of course it was loosely defined deliberately, just so these different groups could all vote against their own interests.
@PradedaCech I was actually in my late twenties and not once in my school did we ever have any education on politics. For years I didn't have access to a TV of my own so I never kept up with the news either. I just got on with life not ever knowing much about the way the country is run, I just knew we got a lot of food from the E.U. and I didn't want us to adopt the Euro pretty much on aesthetic reasons. Didn't care much, it was bigger things for bigger people to sort out.
Of course once the vote approached and by then I had a smart phone, I could actually look into what it was all about and that was when I started caring about the bigger picture. Ever since I have been in despair at what is going on and all it took was a little education. It should be taught in schools. I talk to my children about politics and ethics, about current events, because it's so easy to put your head down and knuckle on with the daily grind, not having any idea of the cogs turning above.
I now understand how Peter Bone managed to be the MP for Wellingborough for 18 years.

Now it is the war in Ukraine, covid, a few people in boats, the EU, poor people wanting enough money to live on. Whenever the Tories "sort" out these problems nothing gets better only worse, we now told that we have to vote Tory because they are the only Party that correct the problems of the last 14 years. The American comedian George Carlin put it succinctly: think about how stupid the average person is. That means half the population is even more stupid.

Thank god they've got no chance, bunch of failed Tories who've already explicitly stated the solution to NHS problems is private companies.
Merging Labour with the Conservatives overlooks Labour's commitment to distinct policies under Keir Starmer's leadership. Labour's agenda includes promoting economic stability without compromising on sound finances, establishing a publicly owned clean energy company, ensuring the NHS has the resources to improve service, putting more police on the streets for safer communities, and breaking down barriers to opportunity through education and childcare reforms. These policies aim to address key issues directly affecting the British people, distinguishing Labour's approach from the Conservatives.
The Tories "employed" Cameron as their Tory Blair, so what happened? In 2010 the UK had the highest rated by the UN healthcare system in the World, the highest education standards in the World, even after the US banking crash (the second biggest economic collapse since the Wall Street Crash) higher real term wages by more than a 6th. We had the most efficient infrastructure building industry on Earth too. We had [massively] lower taxation, a debt level of about 1/4 of today. So what went wrong? What, in 2010, changed this country? Blair doubled GDP by 2009 on top of lowering the debt and lowering taxes, so what happened in 2010? Blair's government saw the 2nd largest increase in personal wealth among the working and middle classes in Britain, so what happened in 2010 to reverse that?
@@ozzie2612only problem with Starmer is his flip flopping. What the Americans call a ‘ paper bag’.
Unfortunately, you cannot blame the media for the willful ignorance and stupidity of the average person. That's on them alone.
You also need more doctors, nurses, support staff, social care (remember Johnson’s worthless words?). 14 years of destruction by the Tories, still not enough for some it seems. Incredible
You mean replacing those in the professions that had to leave because of Brexit?
NHS is a monopoly employer that drives down doctor’s wages, doctors get paid way more in Oz or the US and so British doctors emigrate there. We then need to import them from the third world. If we just got rid of the NHS (or at least did a public private model like Oz) then maybe we would be able to hold on to our own doctors.
The other relevant quote would be courtesy of the late George Carlin:
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."
A lot of Tory voters can’t bring themselves to vote for anyone else even when the ship is sinking.
Because it would mean having to admit that you were wrong. And we all know about stupidity, and being stubborn. They would rather die than admit making a mistake voting Tory before. "I have always voted Tory and that's that"! The level of contrition required to reverse this attitude, is only to be found in Cory or EastEnders. As it would require the self reflective and awareness qualities, that such people are not known for.
Because they’re the least worst option. We all know the tories are shitty leftists, but they’re slightly less bad than Labour. I will say though that Keir isn’t that bad and is doing a lot to make Labour more palatable.

We all know that most of the electorate are as thick as mince.
I'll point out that "most of the electorate" didn't vote tory in these by-elections. Remember Times radio is a right wing media outlet who specifically choose to platform these "anti foreigner" types because they want to make it look like a normal (and therefore acceptable) view.
I'd say a good third are in fact as thick as mince, another third can't be arsed to educate themselves on politics and may as well just throw a dart at the ballot paper, the rest at least make some effort😮
Which would explain 13 years of the Tories and the conviction that Labour is the spawn of the devil with absolutely no evidence except what they've been told to believe by the right wing press.

As a Pole I'm surprised no one mentions us as the reason. 😂
Public resentment in England against the Poles, as "job stealers", "NHS cloggers" came as a surprise to me as part of the explanation of the 2016 vote (I am French ). I thought Poles, beside being "white", Christian, etc were an example of well integrated immigration, contributing to the UK economy, setting up their own businesses.
Voting conservative is snob value, by people who think they are better than their neighbours.
I know French people who speak better English than this lot. God help the UK.
Also there is russians in Moscow with a better command of the english language than jacob Rees mogg and in 2004 how the slavs was treated by the western they discovered the english classism tribalism, than they played online with them in 2016.. Like a Nigerian scammer modus operandi and the voters digest it...
Not just the French, from all over Europe. Many where English is their 3rd language.
Genuinely, a lot of mainland European natives speak better English than half of English people. It's embarrassing.
None so blind as those that refuse to see!
They say the young are to stupid to vote . Just look at this older generation 🙄
The young come from somewhere though. And are educated by this older generation you imply are stupid. There's a lot of things we are taught in school that are completely false and I just don't see enough people questioning what they are taught in school or their elders to examine what they believe for any real change to be possible.
This is a profound challenge to Western Democracies based on universal suffrage.
Populism succeeds because it gives people who are too un-educated (or just too thick or too lazy) simplistic answers to very complex questions.
The story whereby “things go badly in this country because we have too many foreigners” might be wrong and false on 1,000 levels, but it requires a 1-digit IQ to be processed and speedily agreed with - especially if you are a citizen with a pre-existing sense of xenophobia and superiority.
Even the fact that un-educated/thick/lazy people do understand pain is not sufficient - because they also need to appreciate “causality” between political choices and their pain.
This is a non-trivial problem.
But what is the answer?
Curtailing universal suffrage is inconceivable.
Educating people is also easier said than done.
That’s why populists like Trump and Boris Johnson did and do untold damage to our Democracy.
Nothing like voting against your own interests. The average voter is so uninformed/misled that we are stuck in this never ending cycle of a two party state. PR is so desperately needed!

the flaw with democracy is it assumes that people aren't stupid.
Love this, but I would replace stupid for gullible.
Indeed well said.
That flaw becomes a problem when you have an effectively two-party system where the ruling party has both the power and every incentive to keep people as uninformed and gullible as possible.
The flaws with certain democratic systems is they aren't democratic enough, if there were more people involved the better.
It's well known that within crowds IQ will reduce to accommodate the medium, likewise there is a "group knowledge" that dilutes outliers and this includes nutters and imbeciles, certain systems are not truly democratic because only a fraction (sometimes a small fraction) vote.
Yep democracy is the worst system, except for all the others.

Calling out the terminally thick isn't punching down its merely pointing out the reality that they are terminally thick. Reality doesn't do nice it just does harsh reality.
Yeah the reason people might think its punching down is because just dismissing the issue as "some people are terminally thick theres nothing to be done about it" and so on is its own problem
its a resignation to ignore the core issues that CAUSE the thickness- poor education, misinformation in official sources, manipulation etc
You shouldnt be angry that these people are "terminally thick" you should be mad that theyve been exploited and abused by the parasites draining the country of life and selling off the rotten husk

I work in the NHS. Got in the lift and the two guys beside me were talking about "these bloody immigrants".
It took all my strength to not tell them most of their nurses are foreign
Nice try. The NHS staffing issues have been a problem since at LEAST the early 80s, so how do equate this with Brexit? And, for the record, foreign nurses don’t like shitty pay and poor working conditions any more than British nurses do, hence despite the numerous expensive EU recruitment drives, nearly all EU nurses I have personally known either ended up in the private sector or went to Canada or Australia. The NHS response is to poach nurses from developing countries and then tie them into exploitative contracts which require them to remain in the Trusts for at least 5 years or pay back all the money spent bringing them here.
Nope. The NHS needs to focus on retaining staff and making itself a viable career choice for youngsters entering the workforce.
