      Yes Nye Bevan said there will always be a NHS if the people fight to retain it
      Notice the word fight
      Bevan knew then that there would be politicians Tories the elite who would destroy it for their own financial gain.
      Boy was Bevan 100% spot on.
      Yet the citizens will give their vote to Tories and Reform the very people who are destroying our public services and then complain our services are not there.
      Do they not think what is going to happen to the future life and living of their own children and grand children? Not to forget their own quality quantity of living
      Oh an astounding percentage of citizens are taking away decreasing their own lifestyle themselves. If not that have been somehow brain washed hooked lined and sinkered by our corrupt politicians, media and press. What a gravely sad state it is indeed.

Listening to this man who says he hates the French (and most certainly us Germans as well) confirms for me what Brexit was really about for many. It is sad.
    The funny (or not so funny) thing about it is that while Europeans left the UK en masse, the immigration from countries such as Afghanistan and India has massively increased. I am sure that gentleman in the video will be absolutely delighted about that.

    At the time of the vote, I was going to vote Leave, simply because I was more patriotic when I was younger. I thought that we should be more in control of our own laws and I didn't want us to switch to the Euro.
    All I did, upcoming to the day, was watch a few videos on RUclips by economists, socialists, environmentalists, when I learned all about what the EU actually was and how it is benefitting our country. The biggest revelation was discovering how much money they designated to Cornwall and other such areas ignored by London. The next biggest revelation that changed my mind to vote Remain, was listening to one economist/professor's speech explaining THE BASIC MATH. If Brexit was to happen, it would be devastating to us in the short-term and will only get better (probably) within the next 50 years... Simply because we were so tied up in the EU it would take many years to heal from breaking from it. Basically, we just started reaping the benefits of being in the EU since 2000 as it took all these years from when we joined for those benefits to bloom.
    So... I didn't want to vote for something that would not only ruin my life in this country, but would also ruin my children's lives. Perhaps my grandchildren will see better days... But perhaps not. The risk was too high.
    Again, all I did was a little bit of research. One good speech by a person who KNOWS how the economy works. If we only listened to our experts more... Instead of these celebrity politicians.

      @DarkoManco 7 месяцев назад +2

      Fair play for the honesty. And you’d have been right about the Euro, though I never thought Britain would join it anyway, too much to be lost by the wealthy classes. The referendum itself - what leave really meant - was too loosely defined, and has led to the modern morass - “this isn’t the Brexit I voted for” - where a lot of leave voters thought they were voting for a Norway type deal, while others thought they could just forget about Europe entirely but still retire to Benidorm, and yet more just wanted to get immigrants out. But of course it was loosely defined deliberately, just so these different groups could all vote against their own interests.

    • @nor4205
      @nor4205 7 месяцев назад +4

      @PradedaCech I was actually in my late twenties and not once in my school did we ever have any education on politics. For years I didn't have access to a TV of my own so I never kept up with the news either. I just got on with life not ever knowing much about the way the country is run, I just knew we got a lot of food from the E.U. and I didn't want us to adopt the Euro pretty much on aesthetic reasons. Didn't care much, it was bigger things for bigger people to sort out.
      Of course once the vote approached and by then I had a smart phone, I could actually look into what it was all about and that was when I started caring about the bigger picture. Ever since I have been in despair at what is going on and all it took was a little education. It should be taught in schools. I talk to my children about politics and ethics, about current events, because it's so easy to put your head down and knuckle on with the daily grind, not having any idea of the cogs turning above.

Now it is the war in Ukraine, covid, a few people in boats, the EU, poor people wanting enough money to live on. Whenever the Tories "sort" out these problems nothing gets better only worse, we now told that we have to vote Tory because they are the only Party that correct the problems of the last 14 years. Merging Labour with the Conservatives overlooks Labour's commitment to distinct policies under Keir Starmer's leadership. Labour's agenda includes promoting economic stability without compromising on sound finances, establishing a publicly owned clean energy company, ensuring the NHS has the resources to improve service, putting more police on the streets for safer communities, and breaking down barriers to opportunity through education and childcare reforms. These policies aim to address key issues directly affecting the British people, distinguishing Labour's approach from the Conservatives.
      The Tories "employed" Cameron as their Tory Blair, so what happened? In 2010 the UK had the highest rated by the UN healthcare system in the World, the highest education standards in the World, even after the US banking crash (the second biggest economic collapse since the Wall Street Crash) higher real term wages by more than a 6th. We had the most efficient infrastructure building industry on Earth too. We had [massively] lower taxation, a debt level of about 1/4 of today. So what went wrong? What, in 2010, changed this country? Blair doubled GDP by 2009 on top of lowering the debt and lowering taxes, so what happened in 2010? Blair's government saw the 2nd largest increase in personal wealth among the working and middle classes in Britain, so what happened in 2010 to reverse that?

      Public resentment in England against the Poles, as "job stealers", "NHS cloggers" came as a surprise to me as part of the explanation of the 2016 vote (I am French ). I thought Poles, beside being "white", Christian, etc were an example of well integrated immigration, contributing to the UK economy, setting up their own businesses.

    This is a profound challenge to Western Democracies based on universal suffrage.
    Populism succeeds because it gives people who are too un-educated (or just too thick or too lazy) simplistic answers to very complex questions.
    The story whereby “things go badly in this country because we have too many foreigners” might be wrong and false on 1,000 levels, but it requires a 1-digit IQ to be processed and speedily agreed with - especially if you are a citizen with a pre-existing sense of xenophobia and superiority.
    Even the fact that un-educated/thick/lazy people do understand pain is not sufficient - because they also need to appreciate “causality” between political choices and their pain.
    This is a non-trivial problem.
    But what is the answer?
    Curtailing universal suffrage is inconceivable.
    Educating people is also easier said than done.
    That’s why populists like Trump and Boris Johnson did and do untold damage to our Democracy.
