When it comes to Zombie movies and infections I pretty much always write it off as heart rate. If it's a blood thing, the bite happens then when the infection enters the system and it gets transported throughout the body via the blood, with an increased heart rate the infection will travel faster to the heart and brain. Which is why they usually turn so fast. High stress situation = even faster heart rate.
A revisit might be interesting given the last two years of COVID. Despite inaccuracies for the sake of drama, pacing, etc., Contagion seems remarkably prescient.

It's actually sad if you think about it.
It’s very possible for a zombie like disease to occur, though maybe not the entire raising of the dead type zombie but more just turning living humans into a ‘walking corpse’ per say.
I agree, though for some reason he never really addressed a point he kept making. That you don't get locked up like in the movies. Well what would he do with zombies? Put them in a tent? I am sure they would have some kind of restraints, but okay what if you have like 50 restraints and 100 patients who are all infected with some horrible virus that makes your violent?

@Artiqo then have an alien virus outbreak? Nah bruh
Mr. Amman was fantastic! I loved his concise explanations and his dry sense of humor. I really think the CDC should use him in public relations and outreach programs.
That's why I like the movie "Contagious", it's very similar to what happened when covid-19 hit.
And thank God that covid-19 is not as fatal as the virus in the movie and if it was, the exact same would happen in real life
pity the vaccine isn't as effective as the one in contagion though
“we wouldn’t use a live person as bait, let alone a child” why was this so funny
Que_Rico i didn’t mean using a child as bait was funny...
The way he said it! xD haha it was funny because of the way he pointed out how idiotic that is -- to use a live child to catch a dangerous animal.

*CDC expert:* Talks about the inaccuracy of all medical staff not wearing proper protection.
*Actual medical staff in 2020:* Do not have access to proper protective items. 😞
It's the same thing I wondered.
If such a large pandemic would break out: Would we limit medical staff based on our equipment or risk it and send people in being unprepared and underprotected? It seems like the latter is indeed the case.
Hollywood: This is serious!
CDC: Don't worry.
@@Sagittarius_Dec.1.2009, in truth, the CDC had a pandemic preparation/response team but Trump's administration fired all of that in 2018.

@@themore-you-know Mmh! True.

@@Sagittarius_Dec.1.2009 The EU is screwed, because it has plenty of small entry points, with close proximity to other communities. I don't think it ever stood a chance.
The US and North America could have slowed down their outbreaks, had they better handled our entry points better.
And the 2 months warning to prep our manufacturing.
*watches zombie bite human and turn him into a zombie*
CDC specialist- typically it doesn’t happen that fast.
Me- wait... what?
If anything, it would be like in the last of us where you slowly have your bodily functions taken over by the infection. So you lose your humanity and turn into a feral monster.
Magicsword89 I think his comment was implying that the cdc guy knew zombies existed and had seen them cuz of the way he bluntly said it doesn’t happen that fast.
For all of you in the replies and the comment, he means viruses spreading and completely infecting a human, not for zombies
It should be obvious he is saying viruses of any kind don't just take over the body so quickly
@@GHST-jv8th what's with the emojis? Also the joke was that the dood siad it TYPICALLY doesn't happen that fast, implying that there are examples in real life

Decontamination before entering isolation in E.T. might make sense when thinking about how most likely aliens would not have immunity to our pathogens and then disinfecting before going in becomes an attempt to keep the alien alive as long as possible
I like how in the beginning he dismisses a couple of healthcare workers not having proper PPE , whereas some of their colleagues do during an outbreak as "pure Hollywood fiction" but now a year or two later it's pure reality with all the understaffed hospitals and the resources draining out with COVID-19. It’s very possible for a zombie like disease to occur, though maybe not the entire raising of the dead type zombie but more just turning living humans into a ‘walking corpse’ per say.
