Someone needs to make a discord for sharing configs & tips to get 'quacked' games installed on the deck. So many minor issues prevent installation and people could share.

can't believe it's this easy. I tried other ways that were overly complicated, and this just works. Thanks so much for the easy-to-follow tutorial!!
You can also try unpacking the files or "installing" it on your PC, then using warpinator to transfer the game folder to your deck on a LAN network. Then, adding the non-steam game. I know that may sound complicated but its very easy.
This sounds way easier. Have you ever run into any problems?

Hi, i have a problem with regarding my installed game, the folder where the game was installed keeps on being deleted when i removed the setup.exe on steam, can you help on this one

Don’t install directly from external usb stick because it is very slow, but you can install from external ssd drive as they will run at sata 3 speeds.

I'm trying to get a quacked version of "Transformers Devastation" (2015) that installed and works perfectly on a Windows PC. Cannot get it to do anything on my Steam Deck even following the steps in this guide. Any suggestions from anyone? The only reason I'm trying for this game is because the game has been delisted and cannot be officially bought on Steam. Please help and thanks.

For the life of me, I've tried to install 17 games and NONE of them have worked. I'm selling this thing on Ebay.
I have a problem, when I remove the setup.exe file from steam after installation, the entire dodi repack folder disappears as well as the numbers folder of it.
Although I don't play pirate games, this video has benefited me a lot in making tutorials related to steamdeck. Thank you so much for sharing!

if your game is installed already on your micro sd card then theres no need for any extra steps such as the compat mount line , you just make sure your primary storage is the sd card , at least thats why it worked for me

I installed 2 CODEX game: GOW and Horizon, both working well on my pc but not work on Steamdeck after copying to ssd. i tried both Proton Experience and Proton GE. just click to play game and nothing happen....
I am confused, you mentioned USB hubs AND external SSD will be slow, etc but then proceeded to plug something into the deck via usb. What are you using to copy repacks over?
@@xChescoBeatZx He said installing from them would be slow asf. So he first copied the repacks over to the Deck’s internal storage, and installed it from there!

Hey man thanks for the video just got my deck today and I've been trying all day to run exe games with proton but nothing worked. I'm going to try this method tomorrow. However I got a question:
In the video you copy the game installer from your hard drive to your steam deck main storage. My problem is that I got 64gb deck. So I can't copy a game bigger than 40gb. So, is it ok to copy the installer to SD card, and install from there?
Second, have you formatted the SD card within steam deck? Because I think you did, since steam deck can't use unformatted card as storage.
Now again, this brings up my problem. I need to use the SD card to copy game installer. But to do that I can't format it for steam deck ext4. Only windows exfat.
But to install the game to the SD card I need to format it so deck recognizes it as storage. Do you see my problem here? Is there any solution to this?
Yes you can copy the installer to your SD card, and install it from there to your main internal SSD. I use a usb thumb drive. usb one side and usb c on the other.
This is great man, thank you. Quick question. Alternatively, could you download the game on your pc and and drag and drop the game folder to the steam deck via an external and use that same method with steam without the extra steps? Or is it best to do the full installation on the steam deck?
Yes you can, it's faster that way. Since your PC will likely unpack the game faster.

This isn't just for pirates anymore unfortunately, I tried my best to get my hands on a NFS Most Wanted 2003 key for ANY platform and failed... pirating is the only way you can play the game for a lot of people.

Fixed It, The Games Were In My SD Card And I Had To Format It In The Storage Settings Of The Steam Deck

You have to extract it using any file archiver that supports .iso file format.

You can set custom banner aswheel, just right click the blank area where banner would be and you can set it too any image you want :)
Anyone know where's the save data for non steam games? I got ys9 cracked on SD card and I couldn't find the save data location for it
go to properties, notice the "Start In"
copy that, paste it on Dolphin file manager, click Enter
save files should be there inside drive_c
ofcourse the exact location will differ from game to game
Is your RDR2 cracked? I tried copying the whole folder from my PC, but it doesn't run on the deck even using other newer Proton compatibility modes.
I'm new to Steam Deck. Why use Proton Experimental over the latest Proton GE you have installed?
That's just so people don't have to do extra steps such as downloading those Ge Proton.
But ofcourse it would be preferable to use those over Proton Experimental.

Here is late 2024... No idea what I'm doing wrong. I can get it installed, i can get it to run in desktop mode. I am not changing the program name, i am not moving any folders. Once i go into game mode, it stops working. And then it doesn't work when i go back to desktop mode either. I am sure i am doing something wrong, but i haven't quite yet. Great video though! I was able to at least get it working once

Followed your steps, but the installer comes up and won't let me click on it or change options. Its provided by Razor1911. I can close it and mute it, but nothing else. Thoughts?
If you are on the Steam deck to install and unlock the installation page up, you need the arrow on the top keyboard, it must be configured by going to the top of the steam page and going to the steam / controller / tab desktop configuration/ to configure either the directional pad to indicate up arrow or the touch pad or the virtual keyboard of your choice you will see two squares designating the left pad and the right pad or if you choose the directional cross. If it's on PC press the arrow on the top keyboard to unlock the installation page

Why does this game keeps freezing after a while? It's like crashes but with sounds of the game, I can see the battery gaining minutes after crash, I can see the last frame but with the sounds in-game... Used D prepacks
Doesn't work. " Failed to launch". Installed proton experimental, proton 7, and another proton. Installed proton in steam app itself and desktop Linux mode. Doesn't work. Failed to launch. Multiple games..none of it works. Wine also cannot install anything for some reason it can't find directory even tho I select steam deck home/ desktop directory.
This is why I hate Linux. I've been fucking around with this deck since yesterday NON STOP. none of the RUclips videos work. Proton simply does not work. Even did a system reset didn't solve anything.
1.) Yes, you can put it on the sdcard.
2.) Don't worry about it, you can copy anything on a Deck formatted sdcard.

What was the path that was written in the installer when you did the install?
@@JDRos it was C:\Program Files (x86)\Dodi-Repacks\(Name of Game)
I actually located the address but way different its under bin files..during installation the folder of the game is there..but right after installation..the folder disappears 😭
The folder is now in the compatdata folder of the said game.
go to /home/deck/. local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata
inside there should be a bunch of folders with random numbers as names.
if the game were talking about was the last thing you installed, then sort the folders by "Modified" and the latest one should be it. Dig in pfx folder in there and you'll find the game files. Move it out of there.
@@JDRos thank you..after I go in the compatdata then the random numbers like 2348590..it will show drive_c, dosdevices and other registry files. When I go in the drive_c it will show users, Program Files, Program Files (x86) and etc..i go in Program Files (x86) and still no folder for the Dodirepack only shows Common Files, Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Windows NT, Steam

i've already installed the games in windows to a external portable drive, would plugging it into the steam deck and doing the same in this video (copy to steam deck's internal drive) and using proton to launch the games files work in a similar way?
