    The products are similar in terms of consistency/feel and both having a matte finish.....putty has a stronger, stiffer hold that I would use on shorter hair after a haircut, where you can flip up the front or otherwise have hair standing up. Pomade I use on longer hair when you need a slightly more relaxed hold and hair laying to the side (instead of up).

    I’ll be honest, the difference is so minor, changes can be affected by adding water or hair dryer or doing it in dry hair etc.

  • @biskcuit
    @biskcuit 6 лет назад +29

    Advice : If your hair has slight or medium natural curls, don't even bother to use Pomade. It will interrupt with your natural hair oil that holds your hair and make it appear more boingy with weird curls. It even creates weird curls on straight thin hairs. Same thing can be said for brylcreem. Just go for Putty or transparent wax, avoid colored wax as it will obviously create fake powdery dandruff on your dress around shoulder area and also in your hair.

    • @ShopLingoOffical

      VisiBle I have extremly thick hair that is somewhat curly, what should I use?

    • @biskcuit
      @biskcuit 6 лет назад +6

      Get fade haircuts. Not the big ones but medium fades. Then tell your barber to give a layer cut on your upper portion. Exclusively tell him to give curved layer cuts, not straight; avoid straight. If your forehead is well-shaped or has even hairline, don't go for hairline fixers. You will end up looking bad after 2-3 days. Same goes for if you don't have even hairline.
      Return to your home, have some good bath with low-foam shampoo and warm water, don't use hairdryer.
      Wait 24 hours so that chemicals from your shampoo goes off. Then the next day use conditioner and after drying your hair, use simple transparent wax and brush it & use hair dryer at the same time. If you don't have hairdryer, no worries, just use use thick pinned comb.
      Btw, never use thin or sharp headed combs on your hair, I mean it's applicable for thick curly hairs.

    • @Justincrock10
      @Justincrock10 2 года назад

      also use argan oil

    • @BobRoss-wm3lc
      @BobRoss-wm3lc Год назад

      @@biskcuit use shampoo and then the next day use conditioner..? Literally anybody who knows anything about hair will tell you to use conditioner right after washing out shampoo, not “wait a day and then use conditioner”.

    • @biskcuit
      @biskcuit Год назад +2

      @@BobRoss-wm3lc Anybody who knows something about conditioner will never suggest using conditioner in the first place. Don't spread bro-science. As a dermatologist, I always suggest my patients to use conditioner 24-48 hours after shampooing if they are asking for it. Why would anyone suggest destroying the healthy ecosystem of the scalp and immediately applying a chemical based conditioner to create an artificial ecosystem if they know "anything" about conditioner?
      Conditioner is good, not essential. It is always best not to use conditioner, just like other hair products that I discussed in this thread like wax, pomade, brylcreem etc but if you are supposed to attend a party, then it's a different case but not for regular use.

    Im not a fan of the clean cut look if its too clean cut. I feel like a church boy. The best way to do any hair style is to mix messy and clean together. Too clean and you look like a cookie cutter good boy who has no style bone in the body and too messy and you could come across as lazy. Thats why so many men have high tops. Oh and great video as always. I feel like many other style channels are looking for content and are losing ideas. This channel does not have that. Alpha m as much as i love him his channel is starting to repeat himself. RMRS is starting to make content thats not that helpful. Same with TMF. But your videos still hold useful! Its the detailed videos that you are doing that are clearly separating yourself from the others.

    I got my first hair was a couple of months ago but had a haircut pretty much straight after that so only got to use it once but since my hair has grown back I have been using it regularly. Grooming my hair with styling products when I was younger but now I want to be more presentable.
    I am having some trouble though. I normally wash my hair, dry it off and then put the wax in. I usually do a side part as my hairstyle i.e coming my hair to one side and the coming the hair on the other side of my head down.
    The problem is my hair sticks up in certain parts even after using a lot of wax on it. This may be because of my hair wax (I know I need to try different products until I find the right one for my hair type) or it could be because my hair isn't as long as it needs to be for a good side part.
    Any advice? By the way I have a lot of hair but it isn't thick. It's sparse. Also do you have an email address I can talk to you on. I'm really trying to turn my life around and become a better me in all aspects including grooming so it would be nice to talk to someone knowledgeable on the matter.

    Hey man my hair is like just a little long, the front goes down to my mouth, but I want to put my hair back! So you said the putty has a stronger hold, should I use the putty then?? Because I don't really want to use a hair drier since I have to wake up too early in the morning and I won't have enough time.

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  7 лет назад

      +Diego Flores yes putty would be better, but neither of these are super high hold compared to some other brands.

  • @callumhales80

    Do you know around how long you grew out your hair before this? I got my hair cut like less than a week ago and the pomade looks like a really weird comb over

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  7 лет назад +2

      +Callum Hales you might need to blow dry to add volume. I have really thick hair, but if you have finer hair, pomade can just mat it down too much.

      josh It is terrible pomade, it's holds your hair up for 15 minutes then goes flat. This pomade also dries out your hair.

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  7 лет назад +2

      +David Rojas if it's short, go with putty. If it's longer, go with pomade. But for thicker hair you could also use cream, mousse, gel, etc. for different looks.

    I have straight short hair, my hair grows out quick on top but on the sides it grows out straight out, I can't comb it cause my hair isn't silky, how should I tell my barber to trim my hair on the sides if I plan on growing it out?

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  6 лет назад

      You should keep growing the sides until they’re long/heavy enough to not stick out.

    • @SuperJed90
      @SuperJed90 6 лет назад

      @@BrockMcGoff do I try to use gel for now and try to come the extra hair behind my ear? One thing I'm worried about while trying to grow it out is growing a mullet, I like the line up you have on the back.

    • @BrockMcGoff
      @BrockMcGoff  6 лет назад

      @@SuperJed90 The best thing to do is to just let it go for a couple months until it gets easier to deal with. It's going to suck for a while, the dreaded awkward stage. I'd push the sides forward until they're long enough to start brushing back. Use lots of high hold product (like clay) to get them to stay put.
