Aqua were masters of the novelty songs, and their video clips were always wild. All their other songs - 'Candy man', 'My Oh My', 'Doctor Jones', 'Cartoon Heroes' - have videos that are mini movie productions

A lot of people seem unaware that this song was satire on how the media marketed things to young girls, especially at a time when the "cocaine chic" look was popular. That's why Mattel tried to sue them, because it wasn't actually being kind towards their brand. It's funny how things have come full circle and now there's an official Barbie movie that is self-aware and criticizes the brand for the exact same reasons and also features this song! A lot of Aqua's songs hid social commentary under a layer of cartoonish imagery... and a lot of sexual innuendos... 🤣
It's a very naughty music video. Just look at what they are signaling with the magazine she is reading, where she is changing the meaning by how she is holding it, so it says "My Lit Sea Ho". This is not random meaningless pop but sophisticated Danish humor, taking a shot at the whole US plastic Barbie fantasy world. Remember that Denmark is the home of LEGO, and there is good reason why LEGO hurts by design when you step on it. it's a Danish "Viking" toy that is suppose to make children (and adults) learn all sorts of things through their own experience with it, unlike Barbie.
