I have seen Megadeth 5 times and always took up for Dave. But if I were to pay to see Megadeth or David’s band then I’ll go with David. His personality was a great part of why I loved Megadeth.
That Barry guy is unbearable. He seems really be doing this mostly for presenting himself, especially promoting his own band, dropping off names he hung out with, interrupting to the point of shouting, explaining Ellefson his own former band. No great move for a host, Narcissist.
Kingmaker bass jam intro is on point, dunno why Dave Mustaine dislikes it. I like it just I like both Dave's, it's a shame it ended like this, for sure I miss that bass in Megadeth.
Dave is just trying to continue to make headlines and sell records (mission accomplished). Anyone with a brain knows that if he didn't want it on the album it wouldn't be there. So he can redo a marty friedman solo and not tell him but somehow a bass intro makes it? Who has the power in that band? All signs lead back to Dave. But hey, it's Dave being Dave, that's his brand and it works for him.
Megadeth is one of my favorite bands there's no scrubbing Ellifson or any of the former members for that matter. While Mustain is the only constant, each member of the band has placed their stamp on their particular era. No matter what Mustaine has to say about it. It may be MegaDave, but the Mega is large and it comes before and with Dave.
I think the reason why Dave mustaine was kicked out of metallica was because James and Lars saw what kind of person he is, a kind of person who's so full of himself and very very hard to work with as a team mate. even Cliff Burton has nothing much nice to say about Dave whom dave claims was his only best friend.
I couldn't tell you for certain how hard he is to work or get along with because I was never in a working relationship with him ,I never met the guy , but one thing is clear throughout the years, he has no problem getting the most talented guitar players that are available to work with him , that in certain aspects do some things better than he does and proceeds to write material that give them room to shine which makes the songs and the band better. There are a lot guys out there that wouldnt even consider putting guys like Chris Poland , Marty , or Kiko in their band because those guys are ridiculously talented and could bruise an ego or outshine their counterpart, he seems to have no problem with it and accepts that challenge . As a bass player myself, it sucks that Ellefson is out but he is putting together a project with Chris Poland and I can't wait to hear what that will produce ,but who knows what the reality of the situation is between those two guys,. Dirk and Kiko could probably be the only ones that could give us a true opinion and a reasonable judgement. And they're not talking so I just say they both rock and hope selfishly I get twice the amount of good music out of it.
@@danzemacabre8899 History tells you all you need to know. Mustaine was fired. He fires eveyone. People quit. 1 + 1 = 2. And great musicians can't save bad songs. I love Megadeth's first 6 albums! But I don't like anything after Youthanasia. There are good songs but they're on bad albums in my opinion. The new album is rehashed riffs. We'll Be Back is literally The Threat Is Real and Black Friday. Soldier On is literally Sleepwalker. And the Ice-T collaboration 🤢 🤮 I'm looking forward to Ellefson's new music.
@@danzemacabre8899 "I've been good friends with Mustaine forever. I have no problems with him. But he talks really funny sometimes. He's not difficult for me. Insider here. I was working ellefsons coffee booth at 2018 namm, Pam asked me when I ordered a bag of coffee to try but $20 for a bag versus an $8 Starbucks same size bag plus shipping made it way too expensive. I was not getting paid for this and Ellefson was not very social to anyone helping him out. Thought he should be more appreciative towards people helping him out for free. Being nice to an interviewer on line is easy but him and Mike Portnoy really don’t seem to like their fans anymore.
Look. Here's the deal. More often than not in a band, it's generally one or two guys doing most of the writing. It's very difficult to have a vision and have people read into that to make it work. Let dave be dave. Fuck it. The music is good.
I second that motion. Anyway ,it's all he said /he said. Unless you are boots on the ground personally involved, you dont who is in the right or wrong or if there is even such a claim to bemade by either. We know nothing except for what Dave and Dave give us ,the two most bias ,one sided informants you could have in this type of situation. Far as I'm concerned,I'm done with it, none of my beeswax ,there's a great album out and I'm going to enjoy it
For sure. That's what sells records. That's why he's mercilessly trashing David ellefson, because that's his brand. Be a dick, write killer riffs, be a dick, repeat. It works.
Well Jr the best shows I saw were with you hell man you even made sure I got sticks man the second show I got to see and thank you man for all the years of great music
People need to realize Megadeth is completely Dave Mustaine's band. and also rumours are Mustaine is not expected to live much longer. Dave is looking really, really rough and struggling and Ellefson put him in a difficult situation. Hopefully they can reunite and bury the hatchet before it's too late. You know Ellefson working with all of the former MD guys has to be pissing Mustaine off. Especially with them playing Dave's songs.
Mustaine just wants guys in his band that won't get in the way of his ideas. He wants drive the whole thing and just have people that won't alter it in any way. Which sucks, because he's had some amazing musicians in his band. Yet his ego just makes him not care about that.

I like Ellefson. But the truth is it's always been Mustaine's band. Since day 1. No co Founders, no collaboration, it's always been Mustaine. If Ellefson felt abused all these years. He should've stayed away. Secondly, their friendship was never the same after he tried to sue Mustaine for millions. LMFAO. They never did interviews together when Ellefson came back. Then the video scandal... That was icing on the cake, the build up to boot him for good. To me it was obvious it was going to fall apart between them. Tension building. Someone suing you, doesn't just go away. Anyhow. It's 2022. Folks need to stop focusing on the Mustaine of the 80s and 90s. He's a family man these days, and he's a business man. Hence the word business. Getting rid of Ellefson was just that. It's this lingering BS floating around. The dude that wacks it publicly in Megadeth, the dude that sued Mustaine. Watch the Eddie Trunk interview. Mustaine is truly over the subject of Ellefson. He just wants to play music. As for all the Metallica BS focus. Blame the media. They love that shite, and they ask him in every interview, some asinine question. Anyhow. Whatever. Look... Mustaine actually kept it professional and business. He didn't talk shite about Ellefson. Ellefson has all of a sudden been coming out of the woodwork, poking the bear. Soon... He's going to be getting sued. LMFAO. Seriously. In the end. Who gives a shite. Like really? I love the new band. Kiko IMHO, even though I'm a Marty fan. I'm a bigger Kiko fan, and actually like Kiko's style way more than Marty's. Dirk has always kicked ass, Lomenzo is great etc. They've all said this numerous times too, that they all feel like a band of brothers. Which hasn't been said in years in the Megadeth camp. Dave Mustaine's an alcoholic. That's why Metallica kicked him out. He even admitted he's an angry drunk. He needs to get his shit together, or he's gonna end up a one deminsional artist, and he'll probably just crank out a bunch of albums that he wrote mostly by himself and they'll all sound the same. And that song David said they worked on and modeled it afyer Good Mourning/Black Friiday, I listened to on RUclips the other day. I commented on it. I said I thought it sounded a lot like it. That one line, I smash their heads til no teeth remain, or something close to that, reminded me of, I mangle their face til no features remain. And I hate to say it, but I actually like the 8ntro to the original better. It just sounds eery. I like the slow, with the fast. I always have. That's why * always like Mudvayne too. Or songs like Mary Jane. I think the contrast makes the slow sound more melodic and the fast sound harder and faster. Anyway, I hate to hear about all the strife in the band, and Dave seems to be coming off the rails. I hope he gets it together. And I wish you well David. As far as I always knew, or read, you guys lived in neighboring apartments and he heard you playin or something aftrr he got the boot from Metallica. And you guys started playin together and decided to start Megadeth together. I thought you were a cofounder. I read that from a magazine, before we had the internet. So, you deserve a lot 9f respect. What if you started playing with Metallica. Wouldn't that piss him off? Lol. You'd see if he really was over getting kicked out.
They were all alcoholics. They were nicknamed "Alcoholica" in some of the metal magazines in the mid 80s. It's just that back in 82/83, Dave was an angry drunk, where as the rest of the guys in Metallica were silly drunks. They didn't mix, and sometimes Dave got violent.
@@GL.Sorrell it's not really ironic. And, I thought I said something about Dave being an angry drunk, but I must've forgot. But, that's the thing. Hetfield may still ve going to rehab, I don't know. I've had a lot of experience with sobriety, and I've gad a lot of experience with drinking and drugs. And James sounds like someone that knows he has a problem, and is still seeking help. Dave sounds like someone who still has a problem, and it's getting worse. It sounds like he's approaching madness, and he may or may not care that he is. I went back and read my comment. I did say Dave's an angry drunk. I just didn't say that's why they kicked em out. Sometimes my brain goes faster than I type. I dont know who the guy is on the top left but how can someone who doesn't know about a situation be so sure about what happened? Ellefson was given a career by Mustaine basically by being in the right place at the right time when he met him. That could've been any bass player who was there and Dave would've hired him because he needed to. Megadeth has always been the Dave Mustaine project and Ellefson has what like 3 writing credits on their entire catalogue. If he's hates Dave and Megadeth so much then why is playing in a band that plays Megadeth songs? If he isn't bitter or does t want to 'get in the dirt" as he says then why did he take Dave to court? Why does he now bash him publicly any chance he gets?? I would be very bitter too if someone who claimed to be my best friend and bandmate sued me for $22 million.....(which was laughed out of court by the way). Dave let him go because he got caught with his hand on the cookie jar and maybe he would've got away with that a decade or so ago but today that shit doesn't fly and would've probably destroyed the band. Mustaine had no choice to fire him and I would've done the exact same. He's an original member yes but what does that really mean? He played his part and basically played what Mustaine told him to. Megadeth sound better than ever so it shows that having Ellefson gone doesnt make one shred of difference in their music. I just hate hypocrites man and Ellefson is a huge one. And the rest of these guys here are shitty for all jumping on Dave when he's not there to defend himself. Shows a real lack of character doing that and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Shitty what people will do for likes and views today.
Lol because Benny, the guy on the top left, has actually played with both ellefson and Friedman and has had innumerable interactions with the band over the last 20 years? So probably a little more in tune than just a normal fan since everyone on this podcasts are actual friends. Dave isn't bitter, he couldn't be much more of a gentleman about everything. There's no question megadeth has always been a mustaine solo project. Thank you for reiterating what everyone knows. Mustaine loves to ride ellefson for blabbermouth news and to sell records, but at the end of the day, that's how mustaine has always been. Who cares?
We don't think any of them hate any of them. They ALL make money off of one another, whether it's in the news or selling records. Let them all do their thing, mustaine has megadeth and Dave will always have a million projects. That's how he operates and it's completely respectable. Mustaine clearly is THE guy in megadeth and he absolutely helped put those guys on the map but let's be real, THEY helped HIM make megadeth a band WE all wanted to listen to. Marty and Poland were the REASON why I listened to megadeth. It took me years to tolerate mustaines vocals. His guitar solos are also all the same, he's like one step up from Kirk Hammett. That said, his albums are awesome and he's a great songwriter, but if those guys hadn't allegiantly followed mustaine and backed him up, there would ALSO BE NO MEGADETH. Mustaine has always surrounded himself with better players than himself, but if they didn't matter than why do people beg to have Marty back? As far as I'm concerned, Marty took megadteh to the next level and he was the reason that myself and most of the people I grew up gave a f about megadeth. Just saying. Now he has kiko. Marty part 2. More people staring at his hands than mustaine

Media for a new record. Helllloooo
Ellefson deserves his stars and stripes as a co-funding member no matter what, he's been through it all from the start with Mustaine and the longest.

Dave has always been an imature brat, while David is the polar opposite. Maybe that's why he was kicked out of Metalica
I think the reason why Dave mustaine was kicked out of metallica was because James and Lars saw what kind of person he is, a kind of person who's so full of himself and very very hard to work with as a team mate. even Cliff Burton has nothing much nice to say about Dave whom dave claims was his only best friend.
I mean, haven't people been talking over this for 40 years? Lol
Dave is very tough to work with. It amazes me how many people kiss his ass. With Dave, you definitely have to separate art from person.
David is definitely a team player and put up with a lot of shit to maintain megadeth.
@@danzemacabre8899 oh stop kissing his ass

Insider here. I was working ellefsons coffee booth at 2018 namm, Pam asked me when I ordered a bag of coffee to try but $20 for a bag versus an $8 Starbucks same size bag plus shipping made it way too expensive. I was not getting paid for this and Ellefson was not very social to anyone helping him out. Thought he should be more appreciative towards people helping him out for free. Being nice to an interviewer on line is easy but him and Mike Portnoy really don’t seem to like their fans anymore.
When your band is dealing with a official label, there is not so much friendship left.
A lot of things became about working.
It's a job.
It works.

True, and unfortunately for Dave it's that kind of collaboration that puts a good band at the next level. Look at Tool.

Anyhow, love him or hate him. Mustaine has gone through some shite, and he's still moving forwards at 61,and it's a great accomplishment to keep doing what he loves to do.

Ellefson’s got a monster mustaine in his trousers! Pretty cool, davis!
Nobody gave David a career. Without David there's no Megadeth and you'd never have heard of Dave Mustain.
