Just got the new tekton modular wrench organizers. Love them. Similar to the toolbox widget but not magnetic. It’s cheaper too so if you don’t need it to be magnetic it might be the one for you
I have the tekton ones as well. They are fantastic. And if you want to save some more money and you want magnets. Ernst is the manufacturer of the tekton organizers and you can buy straight from them and save more and you have the option for magnets
Out on the ranch most of our work and repair on our rolling stock, generators, machinery, fabricated items, and construction is done outside in the dirt and far from our tool shack. We organize most all of our tools, hundreds of pounds worth (really) in tool boxes, open totes, and wrenches go in canvas wrench rolls and then into a tool box or bag. We load what we need into the pickup or a cart and head out.
I use the cheap metal style ones but I really like the GearWrench ones you show. I like that they're reversible. You're looking kinda Gangsta there Tony, with the hoodie and hat. You just need a big gold chain. Yo
Thanks for sharing One thing that NO ONE has done in the video, is to show us how the widgets do when you take out a screwdriver and a wrench to see how the line of widgets move or stay in place and place them back in order
Thank you. The magnets just hold the organizer to the drawer not the tool. The orange is just a missing indicator not a magnet so you have no movement when grabbing tools or putting them back
@@TonyTheTechnician so far so good. They aren't one size fits all however, they seem to struggle with the older style craftsman raised wrenches, and they perfectly blocked the size engravings on some smaller wrenches
as a dyi mechanic / restorer of old cars, i went with the Ernst gripper holders. I have the older style Husky 52 in tool box that does not have the soft close drawers, so if the drawer closed a little too hard, my wrenches would get slide all over. the gripper style work great in this situation. the Toolbox Widgets came out after i had already bought my Ernst grippers, but if i was going to do it again i would go with the Tool Box Widgets.
United States Marines here thank you very much for the show I like to get you to a widget whatever you call it I like that better for my home use thank you have a nice day
Thanks for doing this video, I've been trying to find a good solution for a long while now. I also don't like those clip-in style trays like HF sells and didn't want to go with foam because it takes up so much space. Didn't want to have leftover slots taking up space or have to use two trays because I have a couple more wrenches than the tray holds. The expandability of the Toolbox widget along with the labeling has me sold.
My first real wrench set was the 20 piece gearwrench in the blow molded tray and I've left them in it. I've used a few different holders for other sets and my favorite is probably the ernst one you don't like. I got the stubby one though so I can get some leverage grabbing a wrench from the end
Great video, Nice seeing some other options, I cut a sheet of thin plexiglass for the bottom of my drawer and used Snap on glue strip rails ,similar to the Earnst brand, you can slid them around to find optimum placement before sticking them down, used a bright paint marking pen to highlight common used wrench like 10mm and 13mm'. You can really get a lot of wrenches into a small space and cut them for 1 or 2 special wrenches.
I 3D printed something similar to the toolbox widget. Modular and magnetic. I made a few different sizes to hold screwdrivers, ratchets and extensions.
In the future I would like you do a comparison of the Tool Box Widgets and the Tool Box Organizer. IMHO I have tried the tool box widgets twice, and I still don't like them. I am now going to try the tool box organizer.
I have 3 of every size from 3/is to 3/4 and then 2 each to 1& 1 16th , and 2 each from 10mm to 18mm. Does anyone make an organizer that would keep them together by size? Or any ideas for something easy to make. I'm currently using a piece of pallet slat with screws to hold them.
Using a mix of the GearWrench/SATA (mine were sold as Laser but identical design and molding) and then some generic eBay versions of the Tekton style for sets that don't fit as well on the reversible rails. Does work pretty well but I'd love to upgrade to the modular rails at some point, that drawer layout you have looks really slick.
Im probably the only person who doesn't like toolbox widgets. I like the angle ones they offer for the larger wrenches. Now if they made them for the normal size wrenches.
I think alot more people would have them if they were a little more affordable. You do receive more for your money now though. The angled ones are really nice but your right it's just for the larger ones bc they take up a good amount of space

Ya they are good as long as they are full of weight and use the right wrenches but other then that they can be a mess. And ya if you have a drawer liner the mag strip does nothing lol 👍

Haha thank you and ya I did the same thing lol

I recently picked up the Gearwrench holders and they are great so far! I also noticed that HUSKY has/had the same set out for Christmas.
Ya I have seen those as well they seem really nice. Hope your enjoying them

Very nice good thinking with the gripper style for your box 👍
Believe it or not I find the $5 HF metal wrench racks to be quite useful. I believe they hold 15 wrenches.
Very nice 👍

I made my own wrench organizers out of wood. Similar design to the toolbox widget. It saved me hundreds of dollars lol 😆

Hey, that’s very cool. Do you think there is any way I could get the stl files you used? I have a 3D printer and would love to make some.

Wish you would explain drawer high it matters on box set up

good review. I think the toolbox widget would be thge best for me. I have tried others but working very well. Wrench drawers are still a mess.
