I just bought a 2002 Xtra cab with a bed cap for $6k. Only has 42k miles. I'm in PA and there is no rust; same color as yours. I look forward to many years of driving this truck.
@@davefield8100 the tires on mine were dry rotted but they was the original tires that came on the truck, I replaced them, no issues with the suspension, I actually lifted the front 6 inches and the rear lowered 4, ac leaks so I gotta recharge it every so often, only replaced the tires, starter, and alternator
Got me a 98 Sonoma it's the 2.2 in it with a 5 speed in it which I won't lie I kinda wanted but it's the extended cab with the 3rd door and like has that infamous 3rd door latch, bought new one with an updated metal design to it. Got mine for like 500 and it still looks fine it technically had suspected clutch issue because it was hard to get it into gear n stuff and yeah I thought it was low on fluid and yeah I was on the money. The clutch feels like there's a giant balloon underneath it. So I'm ecstatic on that it's a very bare bones truck but that's fine to me so much less to break there.
I am a big fan of first generation S-10 standard cabs. I have a '93 that I bought new. Never cared much for the second generation models, but if you just want a small truck to use as a truck, they are fine. Not into four wheel drive anything but old carbureted 2 door canvas top Jeeps.

@MasonLagz only a few hundred miles so far. Bice truck. Has a bit of suspension shimmy. May be old tires. Any of that with yours?
