The reason it feels slow to you is because the car is naturally fast. Going 90mph in the M4 is going to feel a lot different than going 90mph in a Honda CR-V. Also imo, it’s the perfect size. M5 and above is where it gets to be too big of a car for me.
@@VehicleVirals yeah you can ha ve an opinion... The M mirrors are designed like that because they aerodynamic Maybe you should try a modified version of the M4. Besides the M2 competition stock is still insane
If you ever do a review again. Do not compare to your car. I had 335i modded close to 500hp and now an m4 the difference is a lot but an m4 is just a way better car.
I’ve been watching tons of f82 m4 vs e92 m3 reviews for the past year and he does the best job of anyone from vehicle virgins to smoking tire describing how BMW falls short with this car in terms of feel and fun factor. Yes, the car is better in just about every way than an e92 m3. But it doesn’t have the character of that car and when I’m going for a nice weekend drive through the mountains, that’s what I want. Not to feel like I’m going slow when I’m really going 90 or have no steering feel at all. I want to know what the car is doing. But I’m a purist, I understand my perspective isn’t shared by everyone. For others, that’s why Tesla exists.
Honestly, I've heard of quite a few BMW owners who owned 'somewhat' older BMW's that don't like the newer ones as much. Myself included. The newer ones aren't as bad, but the driving dynamics seemed to have changed not so much for the better. But they do look beautiful and are damned quick.
Sounds like he's not used to modern fast cars. Especially with not feeling the speed, that allows you to control the car more at high speeds which is a good thing. Would you want to be in an old car going 60mph and it feels like a death trap???
Disagree, this numb feeling leads to a lack of respect of the car. I come from a day without any driving assistants and would have white knuckles going over 100, made it exhilarating
SinisterC6 He didn’t say it had a numb feeling. There’s a thin line between it feeling numb and it feeling in control, why is it he’s the only RUclipsr that has made this complaint? The M4 is known for it’s handling
Exactly @Davaun Francis an these cars are made for the track....i alway track my m4 an it feels way different when you're pushing it to its limit on the track
Delete the 335i out of your head before reviewing a beast like the M4. I have the 435xi and I know I can make it faster and better. I don’t have the M4 cuz I need an awd. But we all know the M4 is a gem 💎.
He only mentioned it like a dozen times, fool. The legendary 335i, Nikka! These M4 fanboys can't deal with reality, roflmao. 335i owns it, in terms of overall pure driving excitement. Deal non believers
You’re exactly right about heavy electric steering vs heavy hydraulic steering. The heavy hydraulic steering gives so much more of raw connection to the car. Love the reviews, keep them coming 👌🏾
shayne sabala are you stupid? Who would prefer a 335i over an M car? Lol New interior exterior, new tech, faster, instant torque. Over a slow n55/n54 that breaks down all the time. Use your brain dumb*ss
I drive my M4 on Sport Plus Steering setting for 3 years now. I also have adaptive suspension and I drive it on sport plus. 6 speed manual often gets me in to triple digit speeds without me realizing I'm going that fast. Car is a beast and I smoked few 335s with ease, mod or not they can't hang with this engine.
Sure is fast, but you probably haven't raced many legit 35i builds then. This thing kicks the crap out of 335s unless they have some work done. M4 6spd hits 60 in 4.5s and I've lost to several built 35s in my 5.0 10sp. Properly built 335s are low 3s (0-60)at my local strip
you're bugging you're cruising going 90 of course you're not going to feel like you're on a roller coaster lol it sure feels like that when you're going 140. I love my m4
You really don’t feel 140mph in a straight line tbh. I was on a day rally riding shotgun going 140 in a 335i and I was scrolling Instagram. I pulled up waze looking to see where we were and realized we were going 140 lol. However going even 70 around a slight bend feels more like a rollercoaster
Cannot agree with anything in this vid. Mirrors are classic M design. "Look how low it looks" mate it needs lowering. The Wheels don't fill the arch at all. Oh you can't reach the belt....well it's a coupe! Sorry cannot watch more of this. But keep up the content tho.....
This video is annoying af. He comparing a old trashcan with a modern m4.. no hate on 335‘s but that video is full of trash talkin.. couldnt watch that crap either
Well the reason why it feels slow at 90 is because german cars are made for the autobahn. If we had a highway in the US that carried an unlimited speed limit then thats where the car would shine
the f80/82 usually dynos 400-420whp stock. apart from the steering feel i would say the f80/82 is superior to a 335i. also worth mentioning the s55 has been a generally reliable engine so far where as the n54/55 does have common problems. the m2c is not really all that much lighter than a m3/m4. it is more "nimble" because of wheelbase and suspension tuning.
I appreciate your honesty about your driving experience. It varies from user to user, I have a 2016 535i, my homie has a 2018 M4, and my previous car (wrecked it sadly) was a 335i GT. Playing with all these cars, the experience was different for me. I am subbing anyway but I would say continue speaking on your experience driving these cars. When I drove my friends M4, it felt like I was in a spaceship that I did not want to get out of. So much fun.
I own the BMW M3 Competition Package and I can definitely tell you that I love that car. It is amazing to drive and I just can’t get enough of the power output. Whenever I get in other cars I can definitely tell the difference because I am in a hurry to get back into my M3 and drive it like I stole it.
This was a review of your 335i LMAO. Vehicle Virgins has a 600LT and reviews M3’s and cars of the like....but doesn’t constantly compare them to his supercars? Hope you take this as constructive criticism.
Eric M they are not similar cars in any way!!!! The only similarity of the two cars is share the same badge!! You obviously know as much as this amateur reviewer about M cars!
Same, drove the m4 coming from a E46 m3 and doesn't feel the same. That's the problem with the e46 is that you can't find anything else better than it lol!
@@Azzmelater only better and more fun beamers then E46 are F87 M2 and 1M.. E46 is prolly my most all around favourite car but the cars i mentioned dont lack torque and theyre more nimbler.. all of these 3 are perfect looking cars
I saw two m4s in my neighborhood today. One was stock, but the other had a tastefully loud exhaust. It actually sounded really good compared to the stock one.
I had a tuned bmw 335i pushing over 400hp and it was cool but I have an M4 now and it’s a night and day difference. The M4 is amazing, fun, and flys around corners and feels way faster then my 335i tuned. Just because you can’t afford it don’t knock on it. You’re comparing apples to oranges. Ones and M and the other is not.
I agreed with you on doing 90 mph and feel like you’re doing 40 mph. I test drove an M4 last year and I got the same feeling. I was doing 80 mph on the highway but felt like 50 mph. It’s fun car to drive tho.
@@SlowWhip hmm the suspension is getting better people don't realize that... But I do agree that there is not much tire to steering wheel feedback anymore. Plus 99 percent of the people want comfort over sportiness. I personally looking for a m2 competition.
HTC One the suspension didn’t bother me at all. Yes it was stiff but it’s a sport car. It’s a lot more comfortable if you get adaptive suspension. M2 competition sounds nice. I think I’ll pick M2 competition over the regular M4.
The n54 335 is much more of a driver's car than the m4. It's nice n raw. If you offered me one of the two cars for free, I'd obviously take the m4 but for the money it's NOT EVEN CLOSE. 335 n54 > m4
People in the comments defending the M4 calling him broke. Like I know you don’t own a M car if you commenting like that. And by the way 335i’s are not “broke” cars they’re still if in a decent condition go in to the low 20’s for a 12-10 year old BMW.
Never driven a base m4 but I can tell you my 18zcp m4 keeps up with the 570s on the track. It’s a phenomenal car and I miss it. I have now moved on to a r8 rws but I’m tellin you the m4 is still amazing to my standard after owning the r8 for 3 months. Didn’t watch the vid but if your conclusion is what you stated in the title of the vehicle, go drive a m4 with competition package and let us know what you think. I’ve driven both the e92 and 46 m3s btw.
@@stephenweewoo My '88 FC convertible has a power/weight ratio of less than 0.1 and she's been tuned to 146 horsepower, but I would take her over all of the new cars I've tried, even though she's slow as all hell, because I really feel like I'm driving and not like I'm one of those kids turning the wheel on an arcade game when the game isn't running

@@VehicleVirals yeah but you nit pick it like crazy. And what, you see your mirrors on you paint peeling e93 and said oh my look at those sexy mirrors? Or was it the amazing paint job your convertible had? You remind me of those people who would try and convince others that cassette tapes were better quality than CD's. The M4 is a razor sharp engineering marvel! Setting records on tracks. The 335 is a washed up has been. And I've driven as my daily car a bad ass built to the bone n54 today, and for the last 3 years. Get over it bro! Quit acting like a Honda fan boy. I love my 335i too. But I can admit bmw has produced a far superior in many ways car with the M4, I also own a 800hp M5. Check my channel. I've never been so annoyed by anyone's review, in all my life. Generation Z will listen to all you say. Review a car if you're going to. Not 100% go into hate mode just to justify your 3k dollar car that's outdated.
@@frankdogg75 Absolutely love how triggered you are, get over it. You've commented like 4-5 times on this video already, it's not that serious. I stated it's soley my opinion and it's how I feel and I emphasized it many times that it's a great car and would destroy my car around the track. But IMO it's not what I'm looking for!
I'm not triggered, it's just that I saw lots of people saying wow I'm glad I saw this review now I know not to buy the car, so lots of people you have persuaded to believe that the M4 is far less Superior from a measly 335i. And that really annoyed me because people trust everything you say not just as an opinion but a life choice as to whether or not they're going to purchase an M4 I just don't think that it's right that you persuade everybody from their dreams.
@@frankdogg75 So because viewers are siding with my opinion I'm the bad guy? So much so that you have to attack me several times in the comment section? Judging by the analytics of the video I noticed only 7% of the viewers made it to the end where I breakdown why I said what I said about the M4. My guess is that you, like many watched the first few minutes of the video where I referenced my 335i and immediately came down to the comment section to attack me. I'm not here to "persuade" anyone, I'm soley sharing my experience with the car, and it's up to the viewer to decide how they feel about it, not me.
Not just you bro, I have an F82 and coming from e46 m3, it is definitely more of numb driving experience. The e46 m3, especially with some poly bushings, feels raw, you feel connected to the road. The M4 has little tactile or connective feedback, I think that's the difference. I love the M4 but I definitely plan on picking up an e92 or e46 to restore for that raw experience.
Well after e60 m5 everything feels like a toy for me e92 was like box on wheels, thats why I bough 750i, sport performance but still, luxuary and comfort ride
We get it you modded one of the cheaper bmws. Stop bragging about it. You said "my modded bmw 335" more then you said m4. No ones here for your bragalot worked on car. We where here for a m4 review. Should have seen this coming when you said it was the 2016 version. Not even the special edition of 2016.
Need the adaptive suspension for a true review. Sport+ everything, traction control off is a blast in my F80 M3. Much more fun now with a stage 2 tune. Even the stage 1 tune was very enjoyable.
M4 is a great car and better than the E9x generation in every way...except the drivers feel and the sound. I have an E92 M3 and I just cant make the plunge to the M4/M3. I can't get over the sound and driver's feel of the newer cars.
Hm, I kinda feel this because your 335i is So similar to the Signature M car of this generation. But the M4 is actually a very great car. It just has a few small problems that can easily be adressed And the styling is awsome.
Owned a 2010 e92 335i and now own a f80 M3(thumbnail). You are right about hydraulic steering feeling more connected than electronic steering (all new cars have so you may as well get use to it) but after owning the f80 for 3 years the M3 is light years better than even a modded 335i, which mine was jb4 modified. Sense you're comparing a modded 335i to a stock f80 M3. How about comparing a modded stage 2 Bootmod3 M3 to make the comparison equal due to modifications? A stage 2 F80 M3 with 600whp will make you rethink your 335i comparison because there isnt any. THE F80 IS A MORE REFINED CAR TO A E92. Hence the feeling like your going 50mph when you're really going 90mph. Make it a DCT next time also.
Your seat and hand position on the wheel tells me you don’t have a clue how to drive. So you’re not in a position to do car reviews except to share your bro opinions. “RPM” metre? This is unwatchable.
You know I was thinking the same thing with my M3. That was until I put my two big friends in the back seat. I was all worried that they would be cramped but when I turned around and ask the if they were ok they were all smiles and I saw that there is a ton of room back there. But this guy wouldn’t know that because he is clueless.
Appreciate the honest review. It's a shame when grown folks in the comments can't handle a disagreement simply because they like something. I think u hit the weak points of the f series spot on
I daily drive my 2015 M4 and I honestly think it’s a great car. To address a few of your points: -I never found a problem with a seatbelt. Compared to SUVs and sedans I’ve been in, it’s the same feel. -The steering in Sport and Sport+ settings are yes, completely artificial, but Comfort Steering will restore the normal feel. -If you drive it every day, you’ll feel different about the size. It’s not in any way a boat. I think you are a little too used to your 335i haha, they do weigh much less at the end of the day. -The ride quality is perfect in my F82. Adaptive Suspension is a NECESSITY. The ride quality is objectively great in Comfort. -The engine note Sucks. I completely agree. Valves are actually closed in Sport+ unless you’re at 70% throttle or more :) It’s a great car imo! Maybe not what you expected but it’s a great, practical car for me and my everyday use of it. Keep up the good work!
Appreciate all the insight man. As I said my impressions could be slightly skewed, and I only got to drive the M4 for a day. Maybe after a week of driving it I would have felt differently.
Also daily my 2015 F32 M4 convertible w/ adaptive suspension. My only complaint is the exhaust valves… have to be ragging on it to get sound. With that being said, convertible has seatbelt more forward as it’s pillarless so he may be right about that one.
You should have reviewed the M4 Competition, that’s the only one they make now. It has new dampers, springs, a sports exhaust and the rear differential has been overhauled. It’s a better car and that’s the one you should be judging because it fixed most of the things people were complaining about.
When I was on a road trip in Cali, I remember hitting this straight stretch of road in the middle of nowhere. It felt like i was going 40mph and even my passengers began complaining why i slowed down so much. Then they looked at the speedometer and we were cruising at 95mph. That is why we love winding curvy roads. Sometimes pure speed alone is not able to achieve the feeling of excitement. The thrill actually comes from the "imperfections" like the roads being non-linear, and the engine being a little too noisy. That feeling of "being on the edge". It does seem like a wide spread sentiment that modern cars are starting to lose some of that.
I bought a M2 competition, from what you experienced I dont think you'd like the M2C. Before purchase consider a Mustang GT 350 or C8 Corvette You'll find the M2C also has lackluster steering. Basically a driving experience that feels more like a simulator than an "ultimate driving machine" Fake noise is played through the speakers is very irritating. I complained to BMW about this especially when something like a mustang has a sound tube to direct engine noise to the cabin which opens and closes along with cutouts based on selected driving mode. Another drop on BMW is the fact that the S55 engine has a pressed on crank pulley known to spin of you downshift too aggressively. The S55 in the M2 has a different tune than the M3/M4 lowering peak power, honestly had me thinking I had a boost leak but looking at dyno charts it was all intentional to keep the M3/M4 ontop. I've installed catless downpipes, air intakes and deleted the resonator. Car finally sounds better but still was beat by my friends stock 08 corvette from both a stop and roll. Overall opinion of the M2c: it's a nice looking car with a luxurious interior. While it's certainly fast and fun there are many competitors offering more performance and a better experience for cheaper.
Hey man. So I was considering an M4 or M2(non comp). But this makes me think otherwise. I know there are faster cars, but I am not a fan of dime a dozen cars. What would you choose m2 or m4?
I watched your video and thought about your review. I appreciate your perspective and value your experience with the BMW brand, so I do respect your opinion. Coming from a perspective of being a long time owner myself, and taking into consideration my personal wants and needs for a coupe, I found your review of the 2016 M4 valuable. Because all of your disappointments with the M4 are actually all positives for me. Thanks, sincerely.
I have a 2016 F80 6 speed full leather and sunroof. I get what you're saying about the steering and the size of the car. (Takes time to get used to.) I could definitely drive my MK7 6 speed GTI more aggressive because of the size and weight. That said; It's a modern day M3 and it's an absolute beast and the mechanical grip and feel is insane. Even in the wet I have enough feel I can push the car quite a bit. Easily stressing AWD rangerover in the wet. It's taken me about a 12 months and 20,000 miles to get comfortable with the car. Now it feel like I just put on a pair of $200+ Air-Jordan's!!! New supra is closer comparison to your 335.
I have never met anyone who knows how to drive manual and doesn't prefer driving manual, whether they were a car enthusiast or not. Sometimes they still drive an auto for one reason or another, but they always prefer manual
@@filmandfirearms Whenever I hear about a really cool car and then "It only comes in auto", that just about kills it for me. Even all this paddle-shifting automatics with dual clutches, etc., don't interest me. I want a clutch and a gear shift lever.
@@raychang8648 I'm the same way, but you have to admit that modern automatics are objectively better in terms of performance. In my case, I don't have to worry about sacrificing performance for fun because the only new cars I like are the new Viper and the Saleen One, both manuals
Bro trust me, i've pretty much owned a 335i for 3 years, and have driven a lot of cars, but the best 2 cars steering wise were the e90 and e92, the heavier hydraulic steering is just perfect in the e9x, no other bmw can compare tbh
yea mate try driving this thing at 100%. The m4 gives you so much speed and less feedback to work with. After owning one for a year I’ve become a much better driver at the limit. It’s not always about “feeling the car,” I’d rather have the obviously superior car even though it has a trivial drawback. It takes someone who knows what the f8xk they’re doing to enjoy one of these. Turn the numbness into precision my friend. And I promise you this car is much more exhilarating than you can probably handle lmao. Love the channel man.
Should’ve titled the video “a random m4 vs a 335i built the way I want it.” Dunno if I enjoy the video or find the 335i talk annoying. It’s been 10 minutes and i’m still watching... so I guess it’s both.
I have a 17’ 440i coupe, and I have no seatbelt issue. I’m surprised there wasn’t an electronic arm giving you the best. And I love the car so much, and my previous bmw was a 13’ 335i, fbo and tune.
I own a Stage 3 Dinan M4 and a single turbo E92 335i. The M4 is a better car all around. The 335i is faster and hits harder, but the DCT shifts and power delivery in the M4 is so much smoother. Handles way better than any suspension you can buy for the 335i. Put some mods on the M4 and it changes the driving experience.
You can’t review a stock car and constantly compare it to a modded car. It’s just not a fair review that way. Not trying to talk shit just speaking my mind
I'm a 2016 M4 owner, just saw your review, rather your comparison to your car. This is my second ownership of a BMW, first one was a 318i, it was fun but nothing compares to the M4. I'm older and don't do a lot racing, but it's good to know when someone rolls up on you in a souped up Mustang GT you can blow their doors off, which actually happened in North Carolina one day I was cruising at 70 mph in the left lane in a 55 mph zone. I agree with you that you don't realize how fast you're actually going in the M4, but I'll take it, love the car.
With modern cars, you get refinement and comfort, where as old cars, you get the raw feeling of actually driving, maybe your taste just suits more old school drivers cars
I went from an m235i to a e92 n54 And I love my e92 more I feel more connected. I’ve put 8k in parts doing the labor myself in my car and only have driven 2k miles in a year because of repairs but I woundnt change it a bit. I’m planning on adding a total of 40k worth of parts on my car within a year or two. Might buy an m240 Also
You’re right on with the Steering. It feels like there is no power steering at all with a hydraulic rack that’s missing teeth. It’s really weird & immediately noticeable.
I agree with you. The m4 isn't for everyone. I got me a 650whp m4 and it just doesn't give the sensation of speed. Other than spinning the wheels up to 70, no other drama to the car. My 135i stock feels like a rocket..
You are honestly the only person who’ve I heard say the same thing about the M4s being too big. In my opinion they are big do no reason the E92 fills like the perfect size and not tight
I think it's good for you to do this review with your perceptive because it could help out people that want to buy this and never had a 335i or for owners that already have it and want an m4
15:19 it sounds good. Modified 335i is a beast and it's your daily driver so you are familiar with 400+ hp. You should try 600 hp m4 and compare stock vs modified.

Sure is fast, but you probably haven't raced many legit 35i builds then. This thing kicks the crap out of 335s unless they have some work done. M4 6spd hits 60 in 4.5s and I've lost to several built 35s in my 5.0 10sp. Properly built 335s are low 3s (0-60)at my local strip

the f80/82 usually dynos 400-420whp stock. apart from the steering feel i would say the f80/82 is superior to a 335i. also worth mentioning the s55 has been a generally reliable engine so far where as the n54/55 does have common problems. the m2c is not really all that much lighter than a m3/m4. it is more "nimble" because of wheelbase and suspension tuning.

I don’t see why people think he can’t compare his 335i to this car. If he was comparing his 335i but saying the m4 was better no one would care
I own the BMW M3 Competition Package and I can definitely tell you that I love that car. It is amazing to drive and I just can’t get enough of the power output. Whenever I get in other cars I can definitely tell the difference because I am in a hurry to get back into my M3 and drive it like I stole it.
Same here but with the dual clutch which chirps the tires in 2nd and 3rd when manually shifting. Steering feel in my 2020 is dialed in imo.

This is probably done so you can drive at higher speeds safely for example going 130mph+

It just has a few small problems that can easily be adressed
And the styling is awsome.
It even close to a M3 competition package. And for that matter not very close to an M3 suspension.

I daily drive my 2015 M4 and I honestly think it’s a great car. To address a few of your points:
-I never found a problem with a seatbelt.
Valves are actually closed in Sport+ unless you’re at 70% throttle or more :)
It’s a great car imo!
I think that the "normal" m2 would be a better choice for you or just any version of porsche's cayman/boxster model
You should have reviewed the M4 Competition, that’s the only one they make now. It has new dampers, springs, a sports exhaust and the rear differential has been overhauled. It’s a better car and that’s the one you should be judging because it fixed most of the things people were complaining about.
First person to say " don't like it " . Kind a weird. I love the cars . I think it's brilliantly engineered .
just another dude giving a bad take on a popular car for views haha
When I was on a road trip in Cali, I remember hitting this straight stretch of road in the middle of nowhere. It felt like i was going 40mph and even my passengers began complaining why i slowed down so much. Then they looked at the speedometer and we were cruising at 95mph.
That is why we love winding curvy roads. Sometimes pure speed alone is not able to achieve the feeling of excitement. The thrill actually comes from the "imperfections" like the roads being non-linear, and the engine being a little too noisy. That feeling of "being on the edge". It does seem like a wide spread sentiment that modern cars are starting to lose some of that.
the m2 is not lighter than the m4 just 30kg
btw the competition m4 is way sportier in suspension
Lifehack - Putting on seatbelt: Lean forward and pull your arm down and backwards. Grab the belt and pull it forward. Easy. :P
I am going to be honest I love the older steering you could actually feel it compare to the electric
Nice Video, has some negative energy regarding the M4. But great video. I think the BMW M4
is a great car
I bought a M2 competition, from what you experienced I dont think you'd like the M2C. Before purchase consider a Mustang GT 350 or C8 Corvette
You'll find the M2C also has lackluster steering. Basically a driving experience that feels more like a simulator than an "ultimate driving machine"
Fake noise is played through the speakers is very irritating.
