Modular sets are just the best, specially when they are super thematic. The fun part is that brings the deckbulding to villian, love craft encounters that are thematic and with lots of synergy.
Flight, Telepathy and Superstrength would be at the top of my list. I love that these are just a modular that can be added to change up the difficulty. It might be too difficult, but I kind of wonder what a Four Horsemen scenario would be like if you gave each of them one of these powers and then gave the last one the Infinity Gauntlet.
Love me some varying 'mod-sets'. Gotta shoutout to the 'classification' of the mod-sets too. Which allow swapping the theme of the mod-set for another of "similar mechanics".
The mojo mod sets really are amazing. Just beat the campaign this week with Cyclops and the theme of each mod set was just so present and rewarding. Without having a physical resource ally to take care of the messily 1 health goblin in fantasy was such a frustratingly fun problem to solve. I love putting Symbiotic Strength into any deck just to make the villain that much more thematically scary.
My favorite thing about the Flight modular set is that the Out of Reach attachment made Swinging Web Kick even more satisfying. It feels so thematic to swing up to a flying villain and kick him in the face.
Also, do you think they should have made Operation Zero Tolerance always permanent? That whole mod set feels very trivial to me outside of Project Wideawake.
Out of Reach is amazing. As for Zero Tolerance, 200% - I wish it was permanent baseline but I do love that they put a new loss condition in a mod set regardless.
This was great, I've really been enjoying all the Modular Set highlight videos lately as I feel like the MS are sort take the back seat to all the Hero, Villain and Campaign talk with content creators! Modular Sets make an impact and there are so many worth talking about and even more that I havent' tried. (whether it's cause I forget about them, they seem intimidating or plain ol'choice paralysis haha) Looking forward to trying some of these, thanks again.
One thing I love in the horror set is stakes, where its just an item and it can be used later. I think thats a really interesting narrative space to explore in encounter decks, where an event happens and it changes how the encounter plays out.

Awesome list! I also love the infinity gauntlet, horror, fantasy, and 3 Mr. Sinister modular sets as well as Brotherhood, Sinister Assault, Sinister Syndicate, A Mess of Things, Power Drain, Running Interference, Operation Zero Tolerance, Sentinels, and Future Past.
At our LGS we played the Infinite Rhino set and that was nasty. There were a few times he would have one-shotted a hero, but my wife played Strange and I played Cap so we could dish out Tough and I could block for people. One time when the Space stone activated, we had just refilled the encounter deck and the only minion that came out was halfway through the new deck

Great video and great list, I'm a big fan of the Kang modular set and the Future Past set. Time travel theme I suppose, but also some decent challenges.
Good reminder to use Hood modular sets again! I pretty much hate any modular set related to GMW expansion 😂 (only positive thing was they made appreciate Starlord a lot more).
Speaking of vampire, I was playing an overkill Aggression wolverine with my teammate Justice Colossus. I had 3 follow throughs in play and we had a combined 9 ATK when vampire came out and I had a fastball special in my hand. 15 overkill was hilarious.
I’m predominately an X-men fan and those Mojo mania mod sets hit the spot every-time for me. I do find them a bit trickier to put into different villains thematically, so tend to keep them with their original sets.
I'm always a fan of sneaking Fantasy into Mutagen Formula. The goblin minion fits very well, and you can kind of even interpret Green Goblin and his goblin pals to be fantasy goblins if you so choose 🤣

Mr Hyde / Space Pirates / Kree Militants / Crossfire Crew / Streets of Mayhem / Crime / Horror / Sinister Syndicate / Menagerie Medley / Galactic Artifact No room for Anachronaults, sorry guys :p . I don't put Infinity Gauntlet here for reasons explained in another comment, and I don't own Next Evolution yet, but I'm sure Black Tom Cassidy would be in my list.
I like the Anachronauts. Lots of minions with annoying abilities and boost effects. They work well in the Magog scenario to make it feel like an epic arena battle.
I like the Infinites a lot because I like the side scheme always being there to threaten you, and you have to be careful about chump-blocking with an ally, too.
Great selection and we have roughly the same taste for mod set: GMW/The Hood/Mojo Mania would also dominate my top 10 list overall. Now I'm a bit disappointed you took 2 slots on your list for "Difficulty Upgrade", such as the 3 superpower and the Infinity Gauntlet. Yes they are great set cards, that I recommand to anyone for the same reason as you, but let's face it: they are more than mod sets, and more on the side of "Standard III or Expert II", or on the opposite side of the spectrum "Hope Summers" and "Milano"/Ship command". If someone tell me he has trouble with deck building against a peculiar villain, he can use "hope/Ship command" to scale down the difficulty, but it won't impact his/her deck. Putting Infinity Gauntlet/Superpower on a villain, is the same thing, in an opposite way. It is just difficulty scaling, not proper deck building for the encounter sets. I hope you understand my point, it is not really "criticism", just something that I want to point out for future video on modset, because I wish you keep doing in those in the future. Difficulty mod set -hard buff on set up / hard nerf on set up- are "their own thing", that can't be "fairly" compare to traditional mod sets. I'm just very happy both co exist, because they add so much customizability, on top of regular mod sets, and "standard X/Expert X"
Great comment! I could have combined Infinity Gauntlet and the Sinister mods but I felt they were fairly different in execution. And they are mod sets, and they are favorites for mine, so here they are! But I agree with you. 110%. I am already planning a video talking about them specifically as a way to scale difficulty. These and Ship Command/Hope Summers were initially not even going to be in my recent "All Mod Sets Ranked" video - but "almost all mod sets" didn't have the same ring to it. The video will be out some time after I do a video on villains/scenarios. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
I really like Sinister Assault as a mod set they are all kinda bad and there are 6 of them so you are proberbly seeing some of them. Otherwise Legions of Hydra sometimes throwing in The Viper (Spider-Woman Nemesis) for fun. I like the flight, telepathy, super strength ones and how they interact with each other.

Oh I love both of those! I love the boost icons on Sinister Assault, it makes the villain hit super hard.
