Lyrics:
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
And oh, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
To make you feel my love

Whether or not you love his voice, this man is a lyrical genius. He's a poet.
I love his voice.
His voice is part of the appeal.
And don't forget his melodies. He's has created so many Ina variety of styles. This song is illustrative of his range as a tunesmith.
His voice really made up his lyrics. If his voice is in a right tune, it would be boring.
The best voice is always the songwriter's. It's just as beautiful as the words, your loss if you don't get that. If you do get that, he makes you feel his words.
I. Was 81 years old today, when I found out that this Garth Brooks song was a cover for an Adele song. Then I found out that this Adele song was a cover of a Bob Dylan song. Then I found out Bob Dylan wrote the song. Thank you Bob!
OMG...had no idea that this song was written by Bob Dylan....a Nobel Prize laureate for literature! ❤
I'm ashamed to say I didn't know Bob wrote this song. Pure masterpiece.
Too My shame also
Don't be ashamed. He wrote a lot of songs associated more with other artists. Just appreciate that you found the original.
@@liquidamerican8543 nah it's a shame (but not one that I'll lose sleep over)
I didn't know anybody was covering it.
@@joashtunison351 Adele had a mega hit with it.
It's easy to forget sometimes just how many masterpieces this man has penned. Heres another one... An absolute treasure to the world.
Too true.
Best song writer ever. A true poet.
My thoughts exactly...
Man, you said a mouthful there. Hard to even have a conversation about my favorites
Absolutely
Mr. Dylan is a genius. ❤ I've been a fan since I was 13. I turned 71 this year.
Great tunes remain timeless!
me too. 71 in a couple of weeks time
Is only the Best
I turned 71 last Aug 19, been a fan of Bob Dylan longer than i can remember.
Like A Rollin stone, Mr. Tambourine Man etc... W0W time flies
Unfortunately he can't carry a tune.
It did not surprise me when Dylan won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
He's literally the only musician where it would make sense. Maybe Leonard Cohen, but still Dylan goes way beyond that if you take into account his whole career. And there really wouldn't be a Cohen without Dylan.
Me either. Well-deserved.
also didn't surprise me that he didn't want it
Me either
Neil Young is deserving as well as John Prine
One of the most beautiful heartfelt songs ever written.
well, he is the Master
I've never heard him sing. Stumbled upon this link and I'm balling 😭 listening to this.
@@ogadinma01 he’s one of the best!! You should check out all of his songs. You’ll see many of them have been redone by todays artists.
Thats just your opinion and I totally disagree. More heartfelt than Shiller? More heartfelt than John Dowland than so many many composers of love songs. Actually this song is quite boring IMO
@@MrYorickJenkinsHi mr yorick, you’re wrong!
I’m glad Adele did a cover of this song as I would have never known it and how beautiful this masterpiece of a song is which Bob Dylan created!!
Yes! Best song in Adele's first album and it's a cover. Dylan is a treasure in music.
Garth Brooks recorded this song in the 80s..it was a huge song...won alot of awards with it
Bryan Ferry's version is the best in my opinion, it's beautiful.
@@annettawh not the 80s, he recorded it for the Hope Floats soundtrack, which came out in 1998.
It was actually Billy Joel that first recorded the song, even before Bob Dylan, who wrote it. Everyone puts their own mark on this song. To me, as Billy was the first version I heard, it remains the one to beat.
This has got to be the Ultimate of Love Songs...my opinion ❤.
I've loved him too, 17-74 years old.
My husband was a lifelong fan of Dylan. We played this at hisfuneral recently. The love of my life and thirty seven years of marriage. 💔
I'm so sorry 😢
❤️
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

That’s a beautiful tribute. I’m sorry.
Anyone else cry at this song?
Another beautiful song from Bob love it 😀
EVERY. DAMN. TIME.
Every time. Which is why I listen to it in my car.
Try listening to it live.❤
No, only at Adele’s version
Easily the best version of this song. Raw, stripped down and personal. The way it should be.
It's not a version of the song, it is the song.
@@ferm8103 there have been MANY versions of this song. The original right here is still the best. Covers are still songs. Just different interpretations by other bands.

very beautiful song by bob
I could make you happy. Make your dreams come true. You ain't seen nothing like me yet. What love sings like. Thanks Mr. Dylan. Love your music.
Thanks for doing this.
I could hold you for a million years (line 7)
God woke me up to hear this. I saw you at the Johnny Mercer theater in Concert in Savannah, Ga. Thank you, Bob Dylan. Read this song 🎵 was written with Jesus in mind. Time of Mind tonight. He was on mine and I came to this conclusion that God always listens. In Christ Jesus.
I was today years old when I found out this Adele song was a Bob Dylan cover.
?
I knew this song long before Adele sang it.
Me too! My wife said, "The Billie Joel song?" We both just learned that Bob Dylan is STILL the man!
Same
I just learned the same. Bob Dylan did it best...I can understand every word he sings.
In my opinion the one the greatest song writers that ever lived
Writers, probably. Singers, definitely not.
@@rex0370 That’s a given
Somebody give him the Nobel Prize
No.The greatest ever.
You should listen to sixto Rodrigues he was literally like him people say better but sadly he got ripped off but he’s bigger than elvis in South Africa and he’s becoming really popular in nz too 😅
There are some artists that don't have technically good voices but they write and make you feel the song as it should be.
Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Leonard Cohen. Absolute legends who could write wonderful songs and give wonderful performances of them.
You should add Tom Waits to that list.
He may be the greatest singer-songwriter the world will ever have.
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
You are a genius of the pen and move emotions beyond your wildest dreams
This is what the heart sounds like
No one sings Dylan like Dylan...
for better or worse
liamiami for sure
jimi hendrix : am i a joke to you ?
I love that you can hear the sincerity of his lyrics
They can only sing it better..
There is no better poet than Dylan.
Not only his song, but also the best version. In the hands of a young pop star, it reads as a borderline saccharine love song, tailor-made for weddings and what not. When Dylan does it, you can hear the pain, the weariness, the honesty in his voice. He actually sounds like a man who has been to hell and back, only to be sustained by a love he now realizes is more important than anything. But there’s a sense of melancholy, as though he may never return to the love he sings about. The eerie production enhances the mood.
Yes
Yes, it needed said
Totally agree - I'd rather listen to a gravelly-voiced singer any day than a bland saccharine-sweet voice. Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Nick Cave all bring a lot of meaning to their songs which often seems lacking in cover versions.
なんて素晴らしい批評でしょう。
So beautifully said......
Hands down one of the most beautiful songs ever written. PERIOD.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dude... I could yell at my generation for having a really garbage taste in music
The lyrics are simplistically beautiful - it's only when someone with Adele's lungs sings it that you realise that it's a fantastic song as well. Dylan at his finest 👌
I agree!
Yes!!
Garth!
Dylan has done other versions of this song, but this by far is his best. If I close my eyes, I can imagine my late husband saying those words to me!
Same with me and my late mate, except I was the one singing.
I'm sorry for the loss of your husband. If you can imagine him singing this song to you, he must have been a very kind-hearted man.
I'm sure he loved you dearly
@@jordantiburcio4541 Thank you.
So wonderful you have this cherished memory ❤
That comment has just broken me
One of Bob's later masterpieces proving he still had it.
His broken voice fits this song so perfect, rarely have I heard such an emotional song.
The highway of regret. We all know our journeys well. Thank you Bob.
Well said
We are all so blessed that Dylan has been alive in our time. His combination of talent, intelligence, inspiration, creativity, and discipline are unparalleled.
Incredible
Whydidit take me 58 years to appreciate Dylans genius. Was ensconced in Beatles, Van Morrison,
& Elvis Costello.
I missed Dylan much to my chagrin. I'm 58 and hope to get another 40 yearsto absorb Dylan into my soul.
Fuckin' genius.
Me too..I'm 55 and now found Bob Dylan what a talent 👏
This is a masterpiece, and his other music are masterpieces also. This is actually a spiritual song of the love that Christ has for His people. Dylan isn’t called “The Voice of a Generation” for nothing. He is a musical GIANT. But, as far as the others that you mentioned, especially The Beatles, their work has great power and meaning from a different perspective. Nobody stands alone. They all fed off each other.
The Beatles, Van Morrison & Elvis Costello were all obsessed with Dylan.
Thank God for Bob Dylan. A part of my soul feels at home because of this man's music and poetry. ❤✨
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Amen! God gave him amazing talent! ❤❤
my soul feels at home (in this world) bc of this man's poetry.
This is not just a personal love song…this is a love song to humanity from something bigger than all of us and wants the best for our lives. Rarely does the universe talk directly to us.
very few of todays singers or writers can come close to the Genius of those of yesterday
A true legend, what a beautiful soul to understand the purest meaning what love is. He will live forever through his music. His voice makes it even more special.
And he has done it time after time. It seems that his talent is limitless. A one in every 💯years kind of genius he is.
Absolutely the best version of this song, what a treasure he is.
The original is finnaly here
The voice is so rustic and real, It's by no means a highly refined singing voice but it's authenticity just shines
Yeah the real macho man
Songwriters and poets write this kind of song but it's the "regular guys" , who, once in a blue moon, actually make these promises come true for a few blessed women (who sometimes don't even realize how good they've got it). I was a blessed woman. RIP my husband. Now I have nothing but memories to get through the rest of my life.
@Moon Dancer, so very sorry and I don't say this lightly at all, you have SOMETHING the memories and give them the respect to live your life knowing you have that space in your heart. Loving is a treasure that will never leave you with nothing. xoxo
Me too Moon Dancer.....I was truly blessed
...Darling...
You r truly a blessed women! I'm 67 yrs young & have never felt that type of ❤️. Treasure them🎉
No other songwriter can put the human emotions into a song that Bob does with the combination of his words, his unique voice, and the background instruments!

@@georgianwindow Well Norman, a lot more people do now.
I like Bob's version better than all of them. There's something so touching in his delivery that the rest of them don't provide.

Dylan is a genius.
This is the perfect lullaby. ❤
It's one of the best songs ever. A few seconds and you immediately find yourself immerse in your deepest feelings. A masterpiece.
Can't help it....it's so good
No therapist could get inside me so quick...thank you Bob...
This song paints a picture of a tormented soul who would do anything for this persons' love. So many times love is a one sided event. If it's emphatuation, you get over it, but if its love, you NEVER do
Adele and Garth sing this song really good. But Bob Dylan sounds like he lived it. I tear up only when he sings it.
If anyone else decides to record that song, it would never have the same feeling that Bob gives to it. It's a gut wrenching "love song" only he could express
The first time I heard this sung by Dylan, he sang, “I’d go hungry, I’d go blind for you”
I love this man x
There’s only One Bob Dylan and We All Love Him ❤
There's nothing better than being in a quiet place, with your headphones on and listening to Dylan's voice singing a masterpice like this .
In my opinion, this song has the perfect chord progression.
Bob is a poet & the greatest artist of our times. Thank you & God bless you!
Am I the only one that loves the depth and tones of Bob's voice.
I hope he has someone in his life he sings this to. ❤💋🌷
Hello Teresa how are you doing today
Many someones, I think!
Your not the only one,I loved bob dylan's voice since I was 12 years old,I'm 52 now and I never in my life heard a singer who I love as much as bob dylan.he's my absolute favorite singer of all time.!!! 🙂
I read somewhere that he wrote Forever Young (another great one) for his youngest child Jakob. It wouldn't surprise me if he sang to all his children when they were young because of the depth of meaning in all his lyrics. That can only come from someone who loves and lives deeply.
just heard it for the first time.
incredible love song.
i love Bob's voice, across all eras.
So many people think what was so great about Bob Dylan? Well let me tell you that he was an inspiration to so many. An amazing poet, storyteller and song writer. Truly authentic as a person and in his song writing. ❤️
is instead of was? :)
America’s poet. This is the best version ever.
Adele, Garth they are all just too perfect for this song.
Peggy Burke Billy Joel does an incredible version 🔥
Scott Crosby
I listen to Billy Joel’s cover . I’m not a huge Billie Joel fan, but I really liked it. I am really obsessed with some songs. This is one of them.
Forever Young also Bob Dylan is another. I played Forever Young at both of my sons funerals. They were 29 and 38 when they died. I also played Don’t Follow by Alice In Chains . I had a close family friend burn a CD for each of their funerals. We played it during the meal we shared after their funerals.
My younger son died of an accidental OD at a party of Fentenal. The older one to suicide.
The oldest sons favorite band was Led Zeppelin so of course he had to have Stairway to Heaven for him too.
My mother was so mortified by the viewing, and funerals, music and the way I handled it all. My younger son we had his viewing and then had the funeral in my garden. I read a poem and his friends all spoke about him. Then we had a BBQ. It was perfect for Paul.
My mom and sister did not even come to my older sons funeral at all.
I did what I thought was right for them. The music was a huge part of our lives.
That’s for the tip on Billy Joel.
@@pyburke63 I'm so sorry you have to go through the death of your sons. I think the way you chose to celebrate their lives and say goodbye sounds lovely.

Thank you. That’s very kind.
It is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But I am a much better person from going through so much.
I help with a couple of support groups for parents who lost kids to drugs and suicide. I also help with suicide prevention and addicts .
Helping other people saved my life.
Music is huge in my life. My granddaughter tells me my playlists have multiple personalities!
She listens to my music and I’ve learned to like some of hers. I did the same thing with my sons. So my music is really from many genres.

Not a dry eye in the house / Bob sings with raw emotion you feel every word / God Bless 🌟💞🎵
The raw emotion in his voice is why I love him
I'm sorry I had to comment - no one but Bob Dylan will ever do this song justice
A perfect definition of Masterpiece!!

This man made masterpiece after masterpiece and surprised the whole world by refusing a Nobel. Bob Dylan is the one and only true GOAT.
My first love left me in ‘99 and I wore this album out. Between this and Beck’s Sea Change, there may be no better albums about breakups and heartache that have been made.

It’s great to see how many Bob Dylan songs were covered by other people.
A true master of music🙌🏼
