Atheists aren't that bad. This is NOT an argument for atheism... It's a defense of atheists.
This video received the award for "Excellence in Humanist Communications" from the Harvard University Humanist Chaplaincy.
James Randi said this video was "very cool!"
Michael Shermer said it was "very impressive."
Penn & Teller said, "If a god existed, this video would make him wish he were dead."
Dan Barker (author of "Losing Faith in Faith") said it was "very creative and powerful" and that it "makes a GREAT point!"
Greg Epstein (the Humanist Chaplain of Harvard University) said "it's a wonderful video!"
Stephen Ulh (author of "Imagine No Superstition") said that this video was "just wonderful for the cause of atheism."
David Mills (author of "Atheist Universe") said "I am absolutely addicted to watching this fabulous video, which has almost instantly become a legend in the freethought community. Zak has created the most intellectually and emotionally powerful multimedia presentation I've ever seen endorsing the atheist position. This is a proud moment for all rational-minded people. Atheist books can have wide-reaching influence, but I strongly suspect that Zak's video will influence a much larger audience than any atheist book ever published. The first few times I watched this video, I literally had tears in my eyes by the end. The artistic talent and technical skills required to write and produce this video -- as well as its core message -- have made Zachary Kroger my newest freethought hero. I'm not surprised at the HUGE reaction Zak's video has generated."
This video (among others) was also mentioned in the November 4th New York Times article "God and Man on RUclips."
Nobelief.com said this was "the best video of 2006."
NOTE- It has been brought to my attention that Mark Twain, and Susan B. Anthony are not atheists. I looked into it, and my original sources were wrong. Sorry.
You can download the song used in this video at thegodmovie.com/cd/IsThisTheRe...
Lastly, I am pleased to see how much debate this video has sparked, and I encourage everyone that wants to, to join in. HOWEVER, spamming will not be tolerated. Nor will racist, sexist, or other mean comments. Such behavior is not conducive to good conversations, and users who do not act accordingly will be blocked. If you want to insult people, go somewhere else.

one of my newly favorite quotes:
"George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and Christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."

"This famous atheist speaks to Obama every day, and other atheists love him for it. If this atheist said he spoke to Obama through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd."
The point is that this stone cold logic proves that Obama does not exist.

Sergio, how absurd god is depends on how you define God. If you define god as the absurd ignoramus in the bible, who has the sun going round the earth, then god can't possibly exist. If you define the mind of God as being analogues to the sum of natural laws directing the forces of nature to evolve all of reality, then there is a God. The consequences of your actions are also realized in accordance with these natural laws AKA the mind of God. In this way you communicate with God every day by your trial & error life experience, you decide your actions God decides your consequences in accordance with natural laws.

Being an atheist is like being the only sober on in the car, and then they wont even let you drive. According to a study, religiosity is inversly proportional to IQ. I recommend reading books and watching videos from great thinkers like Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens, Sagan, Hawking and Harari - all great scientists, thinkers, authors and atheists.

So yes, people (scientists) DO wonder about the origin of feathers. However, instead of just throwing their hands up and saying "I give up, it must be magic" (like you), they actually try to figure it out.
Also, paradigms change if the theory doesn't fit the data. So far, this is not something that evolution has to worry about.

    • @AtheosNous

Stephane Guenette The most important difference between science and religion is, as zakiechan said, science has and *will* change its paradigm when the evidence changes. To change one's mind in religion is blasphemy or heresy. I pose the question to many believers "What would change your mind about your god?" - "Nothing" is their brainwashed reply.

    • @ungertron
      @ungertron 9 лет назад +1

Atheos Nous Good post, you say: " science has and will change its paradigm when the evidence changes." Yea that is why science is so much better than the manmade supernatural gods of the world. What is the source of all scientifically verified truth? The self-activating mathematical natural laws that are actualized by the forces of physics. So the father, the son & the holy ghost compose the silly supernatural fake non-god, the phony biblical non-god is just a metaphor for the natural laws & forces of physics that compose the real all natural God.

    • @ungertron
      @ungertron 9 лет назад

Angel Vila With practically 100% certainty there is a measurably real God composed of the mathematic symmetries called the fundamental and emergent laws of nature that are integrated with the forces of physics. The genuine big bang creator and law of nature ruler of the universe, the true reason there is everything rather than nothing, the real actualizer of all truth & reality is the genuine Deity documented over the last 400 years by the natural sciences & reason.
Nothing supernatural has ever been documented with unambiguous evidence. Only weak anecdotal evidence supports anything supernatural, so most probably everything has a natural explanation, especially the big bang creator, evolver of humanity the Darwinian way & law of nature ruler of the universe God.

You poor "smart" and "intelligent" Atheists. You who are commenting and the one who made the humorous (and ironic) video could have spent about two minutes researching to learn the meaning of Psalms 14:1 and Psalms 53:1, which say, "The fool says in his heart, There is no God..." Had you spent two minutes researching you wouldn't appear to be so foolish.
Just trying to help you here, so don't throw stones at the messenger. Just get a clue before typing or opening your mouth to speak on issues you are ignorant about, especially Bible verses. The Bible says that those in unbelievers (e.g., Atheists) do not understand the meaning of God's word when they read it. You just prove the point when you make videos and comment like you're doing here.
The following is from the website Gotquestions.org -- try it out sometime.
Question: "What does the Bible mean when it says “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God’”?"
Answer: Both Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53:1 read, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” Some take these verses to mean that atheists are stupid, i.e., lacking intelligence. However, that is not the only meaning of the Hebrew word translated “fool.” In this text, the Hebrew word is nabal, which often refers to an impious person who has no perception of ethical or religious truth. The meaning of the text is not “unintelligent people do not believe in God.” Rather, the meaning of the text is “sinful people do not believe in God.” In other words, it is a wicked thing to deny God, and a denial of God is often accompanied by a wicked lifestyle. The verse goes on to list some other characteristics of the irreligious: “They are corrupt; their deeds are vile; / there is no one who does good.” Psalm 14 is a study on the universal depravity of mankind.
Many atheists are very intelligent. It is not intelligence, or a lack thereof, that leads a person to reject belief in God. It is a lack of righteousness that leads a person to reject belief in God. Many people do not object to the idea of a Creator, as long as that Creator minds His own business and leaves them alone. What people reject is the idea of a Creator who demands morality from His creation. Rather than struggle against a guilty conscience, some people reject the idea of God altogether. Psalm 14:1 calls this type of person a “fool.”
Psalm 14:1 says that denying God’s existence is commonly based on a desire to lead a wicked life. Several prominent atheists have admitted the truth of this... (read more at GotQuestions.org) -- Google GOTQUESTIONS PSALMS 14:1 MEANING

Everyone who has ever experienced a conversation with another human being knows intuitively and feels a sense of what someone is saying without necessarily paying complete attention to the words being used. The kind of presence someone brings to others, notably in their eyes, face, and body posture all speak volumes before any words are used. Watching this video years ago, I would have went off on a tirade trying to defend concepts rather than listen deeply to what others are trying to say. I sense certain words and labels in this video represent various things to everyone here, and perhaps even if we all had a joint consensus on what words like "God" or "atheist" even meant for each person, we would still be left with the possibility of another experience, namely, try watching this video, whoever you call yourself as a scrap book of human experience. Look at each face and try to ask yourself some simple questions, like: What kind of family did this person have? Did this person really feel a sense of consistency and achievement in their life? What kind of experiences led this person to work so hard to achieve the insights of science and technology as they did? What did this person think and feel as they neared death?
Thinking questions that challenge us all to feel and consider deeper aspects of ourselves and others will help a more respectful and dare I say FUN dialogue.
    Cheers.

If you like strawberry icecream and I don't like strawberry icecream, neither of us is wrong. That's just a matter of person taste.
If you tell me that you're eating strawberry icecream and I tell you that you're eating chocolate icecream, then at the very least, one of us is wrong.

The healing of the soul is like the healing of the body: The crucial first step is to identify the location of the illness, whether it is caused by the crassness, grossness and corruption of his physical body or by a failing in his soul-powers,intellectual powers, emotional powers, laziness; the person being inclined to undersirable traits like arrogance or falsehood and the like. Or, the source of the malady may be habit - inadequate rearing or unwholesome environment having brought on bad habits. (lying (Including lying to himself)stealing, envying other, hating others in your heart or brain, jealousy, ego, being egotistical, thinking only of yourself as the main need to fulfill, being lazy in helping others, good deeds.)etc
Without ascertaining the specific site of the illness and the cause of infection, it is impossible to embark on a cure. One can only prescribe an orderly proper conduct in all matters, what to do and what to avoid. To "do good" in terms of observing mitzvot, designating times for TORAH-study and acquiring good character traits - and also to "turn away from evil." MOST urgent of all, however, is that the patient make himself aware of two things: a) to know that he is ill, and desire most fervently to be cured of his malady; b) to know that he can be cured, with hope and absolute trust that, with G‑d's help, he will indeed be cured of his sickness.
Refraining from deriving pleasure - in the fullest sense - from this world, is only a fine preparation for improving one's own weaker traits in his worship of serving G-D. Improving one's own weaker traits to serve G-D itself is transforming the physical into a vehicle for G‑dliness.
    Sho

Jesus isn't given enough credit for what he accomplished during his short life. Here was a man who showed up out of nowhere & began teaching. Turns out he was not only a great story-teller, but a great intellect. Besides Aramaic & Hebrew, he knew Greek & Latin. Many of his stories were in the form of parables & others based on personal experience. He spoke in words that people could understand & relate to. His message was so compelling that today, Christianity is the world's #1 religion.

So the shroud of Turin( What is though to be used during Jesus' burial ) was tested using carbon dating, and the test confirmed that the shroud wasn't what they used to wrap Jesus in considering that it was from somewhere between the 13th and 14th century.
Do you think that the Shroud of Turin is reliable evidence?
Also, Do you think Carbon( or any type of dating method ) is reliable?

Religious people are trained not to think. They are repeatedly told to just accept a premise without questioning. They are told to believe because others believe or because their parents believe or because they will be punished. The result of this is that every religious argument ends at the premise. If you don't accept the premise then there is no argument. Try starting with this premise: If everything was designed, then how can you tell the difference between something designed and something that was not designed?

I found reference to Mr. Lueba at "Scientists and Belief." The Lueba study took place in 1914 and said the scientists were equally divided, 42%-42%. The 2006 Pew study said 51% of scientists believe in some form of deity or higher power; specifically, 33% of scientists say they believe in God, while 18% believe in a universal spirit or higher power. So now what?

For a prophecy to be a valid phenomenon:
    1) The event must demonstrably have occurred.
    2) The prophecy must demonstrably have been made before the event occurred.
    3) The event cannot be something that was likely to have happened anyway.
    4) The prophecy must be specific enough that it could only apply to the one event.
    5) The prophecy cannot potentially have been self-fulfilling.
Do any of the "fulfilled prophecies" in the bible meet these simple criteria?

If atheists were as happy with their non-belief as they'd have us believe, they'd have no need to obsess over religion. But they do, and their protestations indicate they're not content at all.
