Day-in-the-Life Handling Session Almost Goes Sideways | Retic, Nile, and Asian Water Monitor

- Experience is the most effective teacher! We went off-the-cuff with a day in the life video and captured a couple really good examples of dealing with unusual situations with the Nile monitor, reticulated python and custom cage construction. Our male 16 foot, 80 lb reticulated python felt just a little grumpy today which allows us to show a couple different handling methods. We also had an amazing idea with the Nile monitor enclosure so we can use it for the other animals as well but had an unexpected design failure that almost made for a really bad situation and requires some little re-engineering to ensure their safety moving forward. We look at some nice, calm Nile monitor behavior and a moment that displays the notorious Nile fight response. Our big male retic made us work for it today as well as he wasn't very keen on being messed with while the Asian water monitor was his usual, inquisitive friendly self.

The amount of suspense I felt watching this was crazy. I’m drinkin an energy drink here. It’s too much. Ha ha ha.
It was interesting how, after a bit of being in the enclosure after the snake, the Asian Water Monitor looked over at the snake... I wonder if the monitor knew by the scent that the snake was there, and perhaps looking at it thinking "how did you get back over there?"
I still love what you did with the partition in Niles’ even if it needs some alteration! It’s so cool to see the retic and water monitor explore. I love seeing the monitors stance and how he watches the snakes!
That enclosure situation with the monitor and the partition is awesome. I’ve been brainstorming ideas for an outdoor/indoor enclosure for some large lizards I’ve been dreaming about for a few years.
Niles is a handful in such a good way!
😂😂🤣😅 Niles's tongue is so funny.. not funny.. but funny. 😮
Love these videos of interacting with the Asian water monitor and big retics, always learning from you!
Watching this after the live stream, I never get tired of seeing Tigger!
He's a trip!
So I wonder if he smelled Niles throughout that big enclosure as he was exploring and maybe that made him hole up in that corner and take a defensive position? Is that possible?
I'm tech challenged, using phone. Not finding current chat.
I'll try again tonight.
Hope everyone's doing well.
Later. :)
My bearded dragon will climb up on my head too, and it hurts even with my thick hair lol
Those faces are too adorable.
Hey Tim. Hello everyone. Happy Saturday.
Not much chat from me today.
"Probably"
I had open Carpal Tunnel Surgery Monday. Dominant hand.
Ouch! Hope ya have a quick recovery.
I know the critters miss you
Thanks, after right heals then I get to do the left. Yay!
I'm glad to get it done finally.
Glad you're ok.
So Niles is not a fan of the relic snakes . I guess no one gets a long with neighbors anymore . Enemy's in the wild
Look at the snake wanting attention
Tigger's so pretty.
That albino burm Apollo is the definition of puppy dog tame snake, always wanting to interact

I could tell he was wanting attention. I wish evecould understand that snakes as well as other reptiles have personalities and need loving too.
Thank you for teaching people how special they are
😂
With a lizard are the tongue Flixs mean the same as a snake
Pretty similar
Your AWM is soooo cute!! He's got such a sweet face? What's his name again? I can't remember.
Frazier (and Niles)
Would you ever consider a handling vid with your emerald boa? I know they have a rep for being nasty lol could be a good learning opportunity
I should do one with him, he's an aru green tree python so not quite as bad a rep as etb's, but good vid idea
@@IntrepidExotics Awesome!!
