- It’s that time of year again. Time to dance and raise money through the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. Below you will find a link to my DGR page and my email address to send videos of you dancing, with your helmet on and with your bike. Mental Health in men is a serious issue but in true male form we don’t talk about it. This is particularly so in older men. Likewise, we don’t seek help when we are concerned about prostrate cancer. It comes down to talking. The DGR is a great way to raise money and awareness of these issues, so please donate and or even better, take part and start your own fund raising.
Last year myself and Mrs TAYM raise over £4,000 and it would be great to do better this year.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer during lockdown having put the symptoms down to getting old. I didn’t want to bother the doctor. Had my prostate removed and I am fine now but I would say to all men out there - talk to your doctor!!!!!
Unfortunately getting to see a dictionary is next to impossible. Recently went to local surgery to get updates on likely changes to medications I'm on, don't think it was a doctor. I asked about a prostate check as I'm 60 odd. He asked if I'm weeing OK then hold me I'm fine! Constantly being told to get checked and that's the best they can offer! They're also sending lots of invites for various possible ailments which turn out to be pharmacists selling their wares.... my wife mentioned this to nurses when having a regular injection and they are appalled by it.
Dictionary 😅
Excellent 😁 thanks James 😁
Thanks Kevin 😁 I would change gp 😁
Thanks James 😁
A certain RUclipsr is forever knocking Triumph but it doesn't stop him promoting various aftermarket bling for his T120.
Yup
😂😂😂😂
Morning TAYM, the main problem with our nearest Triumph dealer is they charge £120/hr Up until l retired recently l was earning £17/hr so l would have to work almost a whole day for an hours work at a dealer, bloody ridiculous. 👍
That's pretty universal though. Ducati is around $150 per hr, Triumph $120+ and even my independent dealer charges $90 an hour. You have to pay to play or learn to do it yourself.
Now here's the thing. Big jobs go to an independent garage and get a quote first. Smaller jobs (and I can only vouch for BMW Lind same rate 120) I go with because independents would usually charge an hour no matter what , where as BMW, because of there process can charge in 15 minute increments. Tyre sensor fitted 60, brake fluid change 84. All cheaper than the independent and the have the computer to wake up and clear messages they gave a free health check on both jobs so. It's worth getting quotes for certain jobs from the Main dealer.
Yes, that seems to be about standard rate. Somewhere between £90 and £150 for everything, plumbers, mechanics, painters everything. Yet none of get paid anything like that 😔 crazy world 😁 thanks MP 😁
A great cause TAYM, I suffered from the stress of a job when I was working , I just let it build up and said nothing until I had a break down , it's no good keeping it in , we do need to talk to people before it gets to that point.
I've just donated to your page and sent a dance video
Cheers Mel 🍻
Absolutely 😁 thank you so much Mel 😁 really appreciate it 😁
out on the thruxtaym ;; marvelous
Absodidilydoodoo 😁 thanks SG 😁
I lost my dad to prostate cancer as well. Was in 2000, he was just 65...now I'm nearly that age.
Frightening isn’t it 😕 just need to get checked 😁 thanks Scott😁
I know all to well about the sound of silence with my mate Kev.HE sucked it up & moaned occasionally but didn't talk about it & didn't go to Doctor untill he couldn't sit on bike anymore then went home & next day in that much pain had to ring a Ambulance.Found out he had 6-9months to live & had a horrible last few months real bad.Ti commemorate HIM we organized a big run & had badges made up gor him & is a yearly thing.Wasn't many first year about 12 of us but more people know about it this year & will get bigger & bigger every year as more people hear about it especially from out of town etc.Good way to keep his memory alive.
Great and sad story about your mate RR. Message to us all.
When I am in the pub, all the talk is berating gp’s and the hassle to get an appointment. I totally understand why men won’t go to the Gp. My friend had 4 blood tests over 18 months with raised markers for prostate, Dr just kept saying another blood test not too high . No symptoms just came up in blood test. Then had an MRI on back and guess the rest. Why arent men screened like women?
Lost 2 colleagues to mental health issues. It’s pure evil and very difficult to heal. Both suicides were a total shock and nobody had a clue. I used to work with children with these type of issues and the help is fairly woeful. Tablets for everything not address root cause and long long waiting lists. The very times we are living in cause anxiety and depression. It made me think that if very young people have these issues whats their adulthood going to be like with all the responsibilities. One of my colleagues who was 50 and in rude health, whose brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer, which caused him to have his checked. He had to have his removed but was completely symptom free
@@volt8684 Male suicide is high .The pressure of living & providing, cost of living crisis & financial pressure is enormous these days.People have less time to unwind we go for a ride to recharge our souls for others it might be camping or a day hike in the bush or fishing 🎣.It's important to put yourself first occasionally get away with a few good mates relax & have fun, recharge & not worry for awhile & if make it a regular thing got something to look to forward to.
Moto camping trip is a good cheap way to enjoy with friends.I'm in process of getting a air mattress a flash comfy one cause I thought those days were over after braking my back but a air mattress & a fold away chair to sit in to keep me off the ground I can still do it & I enjoy it & NZ 🇳🇿 got some great places to moto camp.Sitting in group of mates camping talking Shite is great & even better if no fire 🔥 ban on.
Yes, very sad 😁 good to keep memories alive 😁 thanks RR 😁
Yes, I think it comes down to money. They just always look to put off or treat the cheapest way. I saw a program donkers years ago about how we are drugging the nation. Very interesting but very sad. The real cure is prevention and early diagnosis and that actually works out cheaper than the fix that they don’t do…….or can’t do. Thanks volt 😁
Mental health is very important and fragile at times, I'm a sufferer and have been since my father died when I was 14. It's why I've been a bit AWOL the last few weeks, getting there slowly.
Thanks Ice 😁 you have my number if you ever need to mutter 😁
Well done sir....loved the vid on potholes have sent a donation ..the mighty Thruxton doesn't need a name!!
Thanks David 😁 really appreciate it 😁
Hello TAYM,
Brilliant post, thankyou - I'm in my mid 60's now and recently recovered from a bout of prostatitis (enlarged prostate) which I was suffering from for a few months - one downside was having to give up riding my classic bikes last summer 😢..... I'm maybe an exception, as I've been having regular PSA / blood tests since retirement from the Fire Service. One thing having regular tests does is show a pattern, which your GP can monitor and this can then (hopefully) allow further warning. I am also fortunate as, in my career, I've forged close bonds with my ex - watch colleagues and a good number of us meet up every Wednesday for (as you would say), a good 'mutter' and ride out (on our electric bicycles 😊). The talk is nowadays as much about our health woes as it used to be about the 'shouts' we used to attend 😅. The bottom line with men's health (pun intended 😮) is, for most of us, the 'fear of finding out' - there's an ad on t.v. at the moment showing a bloke with a box & turn key who finally gets to see his GP; when the box is finally opened and it turns out to be empty (of cancer) you get to see the relief on his face 😊 - keep muttering TAYM, it's a great channel which us-of-a-certain-age can really relate too...ride safe, cheers and a healthy Easter to all.
Thanks Dave 😁 really good to hear 😁 excellent comment 😁
Ok, I donated. I’ll try and do a jig in front of the garage bound bikes but it is my busiest time of year at work, forgive me if I forget! Good luck!!
Excellent 😂😂😂😂 thank you so much 😁 very generous TBG 😁
Most important mutter there TAYM.
I recently went to Dr about prostate check, simple blood test and job done,And talking is important but our generation do find it difficult.
Keep up the good work and have a great day.
Excellent 😁 must go myself 😁 thanks BM 😁
Blimey o'reily. I own a Classic 350 and a Street Triple 765 RS. Both companies have been amazing when it comes to looking after the bikes and the dealers different class - Groombridge for RE in Heathfield and Gedges in Hastings for Triumph. Buy a bike off those guys you'll have no bother. Donation inbound. Cheers :)
Excellent to name good dealers 😁 thanks Marcus 😁
Great job TAYM the DGR is around again a very good and important cause to support . 👌👍
Thanks Crumb 😁
I did the DGR last year, loved it. Great cause. Us older ones - need to talk more (Myself included). Lets make a little more effort at bike meets, Cafes etc. Just talking rubbish and bikes does a great deal to someone who has most likely just taken a leap of faith for once went to such places. 🤓
Absolutely 😁 thanks ARO😁
Thanks for a great video! My 2022 Triumph Scrambler 1200 transmission went out at 12,700 miles. It was a broken shifter shaft. Took it to the dealer in Waukesha, Wisconsin. A day and a half later they called to tell me it was repaired, under warranty. That was a fast turn around and there was almost zero paperwork involved. Sometimes these things work out very well!
Fantastic service 😁 thanks Blue
I just bought one. Pick it up later this week :-)
Excellent 😁 you won’t be disappointed 😁 thanks BS 😁
A noble deed for a noble cause and very apt one for you. Thank you for talking about Mental Health Mr TAYM, we are of a similar vintage give or take and it was not spoke of much in "Our Day." Except it was, but in rather different terms. "He's down in the dumps" "He's very low at the moment" " She suffers with her nerves" until ultimately it became more serious and " Oh, He had a nervous breakdown....." So bring on the new era of men talking openly about Anxiety, Stress and Depression. It is common among us Motorcycle enthusiasts because we have found motorcycling and the incumbent tinkering is a useful mindful therapy. It just is.
Absolutely agree 😁 I guess the one good thing that came from it was the fall and rise of Reginald Perrin 😁 motorcycles a great source of relief for many of us 😁
Great mutter m8. Beautiful bike as well.
Thanks Ian 😁
My Dr basically ignored my prostate. We call him Dr Death. 🙄He obviously didn’t want to do the digital examination. I tried to avoid him and I mentioned it to a young locum. He immediately did the test and we found eventually the cancer was slightly out of the prostate I had the full radiotherapy treatment and all fine in the end. Had I not seen that young locum by the time it was discovered it would have been too late I suspect! Very lucky! I could have complained about my Dr but that opens another can of worms. My god daughter is a senior pharmacist in the health service. If she makes a mistake she’ll be struck off. Drs are hard to get rid of! Looking back I should have insisted but hindsight is a good thing!
Yes, but we shouldn’t have to insist😡 it needs to be simple 😁 glad you made it through though 😁 thanks Dave 😁
I also had one of my closest friends die of cancer. So painful...and, just like the rest of us, he was silent through much of the suffering. Too much silence... You have my support! 👍
Sorry to hear that 😕 we do need to speak out 😁
Afternoon TAYM I do intend to do a video for you I'm just trying to pin Mrs Mike down to a time being as she said she'd do it if I did. That was impressive with your warranty claim I think certain other RUclipsrs have their own agendas with certain manufacturers so I tend to take what they say with a pinch of salt.
😂😂😂 thanks Mike 😁 can’t wait to see the dances 😂😂😂
My Dad had it, My Uncle died of it & I've got an enlarged prostate, so I'm in. On the subject of Mental Health, as you know I'm a professional, so that slightly restricts what I can say (Walls have Ears) but I've been invited by Noobiker to be on a forthcoming livestream with him on the 19th of May to talk about that sort of thing. Hope you can be around for that.
Thanks CMD 😁 I shall certainly try 😁
I was one of those that told you last year that my prostate was removed. After a blood test in 2021 was told by my doctor the reading was high so booked another test after talking to the urology department. After the second high test urology dept had me in, carried out an mri scan then requested a biopsy, result given on the 23/12/21 by the Professor in charge. Confirmed prostate was cancerous and needed sorting, would be removed by March, well actually removed the end of January. It’s now over 2 years ago with no further problem, however without the checks I would say the outcome would have been much different. Early diagnosis and this is an easily cured cancer. 😊
Yes, I remember Peter 😁 excellent that you remain clear 😁
I think the bike with no name should be called Niffler after the creature in the fantastic beasts film that likes shiny things !
😂😂😂 yes, possibly 😁 thanks Gerry 😁
When I was a salesmanager of a Triumph and BMW shop we once had a customer like Stuart Fillingham. In talking to our Stuart I knew he would be a constant complainer about anything and everything and I dissuaded him from purchasing. Unfortunately his daughter and the dealership owners daughter went to the same exclusive private school so he went to the owner to buy the bike.
I explained to owner this guy would be the worst customer. Of course the owner sold the bike to him and we waited on this guy hand and foot for a year dealing with imaginary issues and some caused by the owner and eventually bought the bike back from the guy. The dealership owner never over rode my decision again.
Dealer service should be great but some owners bring on their own problems with aggressive and confrontational attitudes.
Excellent story 😂😂😂 my dad was in the trade and has similar stories 😁 thanks FatCap😁
I don't think any dealer will refuse your warranty claim, any bad press wouldn't be good for them. I bet a new set of clocks would be a fairly expensive item too especially at Triumph prices.
Yes, that’s what I thought 😁 thanks Paul 😁
excellent thoughtful mutter.👍👍🏍
Thanks Paul 😁
I just registered for Bury st Edmunds DGR
Excellent 😁 see you there 😁
@@TAYM I will be filming
Nice mutter, prostate! Take zink and magnesium supplements, Mental and physical health, eat alot less sugar, carbohydrates, and highly processed foods, Don't fear healthy animal fat and protein. And Ride your motorcycle as often as possible 👍
Thanks Ray 😁
Fantastic video TAYM ... I lost my mum when I was 10 years old and it took me another 20 years to actually face the damage that had done to my mental health .
As for the physical issues I'm having a colonoscopy on Thursday so I'm very aware of the other subject you touch on ..... We must talk more 👍 , I mention it in my next video .
I lost my Mom a week after I turned 11. My lil brother and I were adopted and he had issues with her loss and eventually took his own life.
After all these years, a few months ago a medication had side effects which made me pretty nearly go off the deep end with night terrors. Two months of that drug up a lot of buried regrets that I didn’t know were effecting under the surface.
Losing a parent at a young age throws our lives into total chaos.
It’s shit getting older, makes me just want to live life to the fullest 😁 hope everything works out well for you 😁 thanks DJ 😁
Thanks PW 😁 terrible, lots of Mrs TAYM s clients struggle from similar history 😁 it’s hard and stays deep 😕
@@TAYM It is shit ! spot on . Thanks TAYM.
Careful your not allowed to question what the who's always correct uncle 😂😂
😂😂😂😂 thanks TPS😁
Oh and yes! Triumph we’re looking after the famous TAYM. I was about to have my clocks replaced and they went awry about the same time! Funny that! 🙄 Mind you I didn’t actually own a Triumph then just saying! 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great reminder to keep an eye out for your health, physical and mental. Fortunate that my local GP invites you in for screening for all sorts, I have had several Health MOT's now I have reached a certain age.
The issue with warranty claims, most forget that your contract is with the dealer not the manufacturer, this means experiences differ wildly. Researching the bike you want should also include looking at the dealers track history
Yes, and a lot of dealers try to fob you off suggesting it’s all on the manufacturer 😁 it’s almost like the consumer rights act doesn’t exist to them 😂😂😂 thanks S 😁
A worthy Mutter Mr TAYM.
Thanks PW 😁
Morning Mr TAYM. Excellent service from Triumph. They say that due to the problems with the Suez, ships are taking 10 days longer to go around. That still doesn’t quantify the problems some owners of a certain brand are having, getting warranty issues sorted. As you know, I am not one for slagging them off, but having to wait about 9 months so far, isn’t acceptable, and one reason why confidence in the brand is being affected.
The problem is 10 days each way (and most are taking longer) that puts everything in the wrong place and results with something more like a 3 month delay. Plus, they can no longer get insurance for certain routes and those that charter have stricter terms restricting which waters they can go in. Weather systems are also different and going through dodgy seas can add another week or two. Companies are having to pay twice the rate they were and so end up waiting until the can fill more containers and obtain better prices. It’s crazy 🤪 thanks Ian 😁
Dear TAYM this video covered all bases for me.1st i had prostate cancer in 2015,had it removed and im still about 9 years later. My dad had it and died at 64.2nd the clocks on my Street Cup mist up and i just put a hair dryer on the glass and the heat gets rid of it.3rd your Thruxton sounds great, they have a 19 plate at Lings Triumph Dunmow in white,if i was still working i would have it but now im retired its off the radar.4th are you getting checked for prostate cancer,i had no symptoms but was stage 3.
Thanks C 😁 I am making an appointment 😁
My bike hammy mt09 get condensation in the clock stripped and blow dried silicone bags no fix so ended up drilling 2 3 mm holes in the back of clocks 👍
Interesting 🤔 are they not sealed? 😁 thanks Robert 😁
As you know, I work in the health field. My buddy that I worked with just got the camera put in the exit only 2 weeks back. The insurance got billed 1500 dollars, and our insurance company covered 1000 dollars. He has to pay 500 dollars out of pocket. But he did get a pat on the back on the way out by the doctor telling it all looks good.😂🎉
Excellent 😁 thanks LoY 😁
Great Mutter!

My 16 plate thruxton R rear dampers were swapped out after 12 months due to a potential issue that was raised in the USA. No fuss, given coffee and a biscuit, they also remapped it with latest firmware as it had V&M pipes fitted, of charge :)
I always get a coffee ☕ & one time got some carrot cake 🍰 too. When there was a Recall on my bike I emailed the Dealerships as soon as I heard there was a worldwide Recall & put my VIN number in on the Triumph site & my bike affected.Within 5mins I got a phonecall saying that they only heard about 2days earlier & were going to contact me & had already allowed time slots to do Recall work on the bikes over next few weeks.I took my bike in 4days later.I got a travel 110km & got nowhere to go & just wait on sofa & drink coffee ☕ & go for a walk. They're really good on customer service & does come down to some Dealerships being better than others & it's the only Triumph Dealership for hours around. My RE Dealership customer service was bare minimum no seating area no coffee or tea offered & I found out from a mate you rode past said it was gone.I rang a few times no answer so Emailed RE NZ 🇳🇿 as had 10,000km service coming up they said he went bust & I had to goto RE Palmy or Bayview Honda which was endorsed by RE NZ 🇳🇿 for services etc in Napier.I lived in the middle 110km in either direction.I got no notice from the RE,Kawasaki,Benelli Dealer I brought my bike from nothing to tell me they're closing unfortunately & had to take bike to another garage in the Area.I think 🤔 the workers didn't even know turned upto work & was shut in Liquidation.
Lucky my bike wasn't in there overnight for service it can be a nightmare getting bike back or worse you'd brought a bike outright day or 2 before & waiting for delivery😲🤯🤬.
Can take months to get resolved & yet he was taking bikes in for services, selling bikes right till last day & he knew closure was imminent.
HE was foreign & I hope he didn't go back home to country of origin leaving workers, customers in the lurch.
Marvellous 😁 thanks Guy😁
That's what we learned from a young age, men don't talk about feelings. It's very good if you can talk about those things, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. (To be frank, i really don't like talking about feelings, just because i have seen to much, comes with my job, to much confrontation) I learned to let go of things that are out of your control. Not always easy, but better for me. I hope the younger generation will do better then me, but don't forget its the keyboard generation. Talk on the computer, but often does not know how to talk to real people. hope i am wrong about the younger generation.
Yes, never thought of that 😂😂 thanks WB 😕
Looks like the potholes have been repaired on that roundabout.
I know 😁 sadly not all of them thought 😁 just a few little grabby ones to keep us on our toes 😂😂😂 thanks Mike 😁

I will stop next time 😁 his horse just eats all the time 😁 thanks Rob 😁

Timely warning to us all TAYM, guys think we're bullet proof and have our heads firmly in the sand when it comes to mental and physical health. We need to talk to our buddies about these things. Unfortunately not every motorcycle accident is a accident. Get your prostate and hearts checked out boys.
Was at Doc today left ankle playing up needed a x-ray to see if it nerve damage or if the metal plates, screws moved or come loose.I get depressed watching mates doing firewood or heavy labour stuff I would do but can't do now & get frustrated & try & do it & over do it & end up in pain or feel stink thinking I'm not pulling my wait.My mates are pretty good & make sure I don't over do it & give me the easy jobs & I'm the tea 🍵 boy now.One time we used my Ute to help someone move & all I moved was the light stuff & drive & person didn't know my issues & heard him call me Lazy but my mates got upset & quickly told him I broke my back & couldn't do the heavy stuff HE felt stink as he didn't know I was round corner & heard HIM & I popped around corner so he knew I heard him.I didn't know him that well but since then became good mates.
Thanks DT 😁
My classic 350 has had condensation in the digital readout window since I bought it. It only appears in warmer weather, and did so before any rain or cleaning. As the nearest dealer is a good hours ride away, I live with it. If it gets worse or the LCD function quits, I'll go for a warranty claim. Strange that condensation has become an issue on bikes recently. Or maybe it has always done but social media put it in the open.
Look underneath clocks & remove the yellow stickers or round stickers they cover the drain holes which lets moisture out & air in especially when riding bike & should stop condensation issues. My Interceptor had condensation issues & I removed stickers underneath & never had condensation issues again.
The Dealerships should remove the stickers underneath clocks & grease from Relays when bikes arrive in shop cause stickers, grease is there for transportation to stop salt air & humidity etc.
@@ruahinesrider Good point, I shall try that. Cheers.
