The actor playing Mr. Bookman, Philip Baker Hall, died yesterday. His 4 minutes in Seinfeld were so iconic that they're commemorated in news articles about his death around the world.
I do not know how many minutes The Soup Nazi was in..... but he is still making quite a living doing store openings and the like... Mr. Bookman is in the same league..unforgettable

An absolutely brilliant character, brilliantly played. So funny to watch - and Jerry was constantly trying to not laugh.... there must be tons of bloopers from these scenes, but I've never seen one.
Oh, I just rewatched The Talented Mr Ripley and I came here because I remembered his performance as Bookman. He was in Ripley with the last actor (playing the lawyer here - James Rebhorn). Must be fun for actors to cross paths on projects over the years. This role was iconic! RIP. 🙏💫

To me, it is always amusing to see scenes like those in this clip where Jerry finds himself up against a trained actor. They usually make him look like a foolish, giggly amateur.
To be fair, it's not like he pretends otherwise. Even poked fun at it in the episode when they were shooting their pilot, and one executive complained that Jerry couldn't act.
The thing about this show is a lot of the side characters are legit good actors lol Like this is freaking Philip Baker Hall playing Bookman.. great actor.
