Great video. I've had my Vega pro 40 fence for around 15 yrs now. Sears Craftsman table saw, 1983. Love this fence. It's made a world of difference for me. Love your modifications! Thanks for posting.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review your likes/dislikes with this fence system. I am concidering it and it makes the process much simpler to have some honest facts to consider ..)
Good video, I like these types of real world reviews so much better than the "ooh shiny and new" unboxing videos everyone does. Good info and overview of the Vega.
Thanks. In the near future, I'll be posting a detailed video of the modifications I've done for the auxiliary fences on both sides and how they were made.
Ok, you caught my attention. Have my Grandad’s 1963 craftsman. Added a link belt and pulleys. Easy upgrades. I like the fence and more importantly the router insert.
Thanks for the review! I didn’t know what that micro adjuster was at first. I just picked up an older craftsman table saw with this exact fence on it for $100. I didn’t realize how nice the fence was when I first picked up the unit, and I don’t think that guy did either as it was his father in laws table saw.
Thanks for posting this review. I was just comparing this fence last night with a Shop Fox for my early 2000's Jet contractor saw. Your review is very helpful!
Hi Roger, you get a big thumbs up on this video. I just purchased the same Vega fence for my 1955 Sears saw. I love the added ones that you did with the fence but I am having a problem finding the video on them. Also I would love to put a router on the table and it looks like your table is one of the best I have see. Any help you could give would be gratefully appreciated.
Both of those topics are on my "to do a video on" list, but I have been SO busy with things the past two months that videos kind of got put on the back burner. The Renovation House needs to be done by the end of the month and that coupled with our greenhouse spring rush business has kept me away from the channel for a while.
Also, I really like what you did with the power switch, moving it to the left side. Is it attached to the fence? Any chance you could post a couple of close-up pictures of it? Thanks.
Nice video. I have the same saw and the same fence! Question... where did you get your insert plate? I have bought a couple that were stated to fit this saw but they didn't. I see others on the market but want to keep taking the chance of it will for or not. Thanks
No. It is a double layer of 3/4" MDF that was treated with WATCO oil (several applications), then oil based poly, sanded to 400, then Johnson's Paste Wax. I wax the top about once a month. More often if it gets real heavy use.
Nice review thx! Is it possible to replace the measuring tape with ease you think? Is the surface round or flat at the tape? (Would like to make it metric)...
I replaced the tape measure on mine with a Starrett 1/2 inch wide tape. The original was rounded and the replacement is flat, but with careful placement, it works just fine. The fence has a cutout area that goes over the tape so it is not dragging on it.
I have a Craftsman 315.228390 table saw and it has the original Align-a-rip fence. I would like to upgrade to a more substantial fence and have a question. On your Vega fence, is the rubber bumper on the back bottom of the fence part of the clamping action when the fence is locked or just a support to keep the fence from dragging on the table top? I think I want a fence that locks and is held in place by just the front lever. In my limited experience, fences that have clamping actions on the back edge is just to augment the light weight material/clamping action of the cam lever on the front. Your thoughts? Thanks for taking the time to video and post your content.
Did you ever make a video showing the dust collection for your table saw? I'm looking to build my saw into a table like that and looking for some ideas. Great review
Depends on use. This is perfect for what I use it for and very seldom ever take it off the saw table. With my mods, it is heavy. But also, very stable.

Just installed one on my old Craftsman. MUCH better than the original and bolted right on...

You got a steal. These fences are amazing and cost 3x what you paid for the entire saw and fence.

I'm quite happy with it. It is accurate and has no "issues".
Where dose a guy find one of the micro adjustments knobs like you have
I just got my Vega today put it on and seen my micro adjustment knob was broke
Amazon. Don't recall the specs, but it was not expensive.
I have a Utility 50 that has served me very well for 25+ years.
So very glad that I found your channel, great content!
Where did you get the tracks to mount anti kickback guides and which guides do you use.
Tracks from Rockler. Feather boards are Kreg, Milescraft, and a few others.

This video will show a close up of both switches: ruclips.net/video/lI6oWIYcUP8/видео.html

Insert from Amazon: amzn.to/3ubdIV6 I have four of these, each cut for a certain blade (one for dado)
Great review would like to see more videos.
Roger - is that mat'l used on the tablesaw "phenolic"?

I just installed my Vega U50 today. I like the t-track in your auxiliary fence.
It's perfect for holding my feather boards!
Did you get the Pro 26, 40 or 50? Going to pull the trigger this week.
This is the 26". I do not have room for the 50, although I would like to have it!

@@melissaburns5240 thx for the feedback! 👌
Yes you can! It is flat with a bit of convex shape, but should be doable.
is it possible to install a dro on this fence?
Dro?

An electronic tape measure

The bumper is a support to keep the fence from dragging on the table top.
Thank you. Which model did you review? The Pro model or Utility? Thanks
Pro
is that the Sears Craftsman 113.299040 ... I have one and am desperate for a good replacement fence.. thanks
Yes, it is a Sears Craftsman, but I do not recall the exact model number. After building it in like I did, I can't see that tag anymore.

A video covering the dust collection system on my saw/router table will be posted soon. It was recorded today as you are not the first to request one!
YEA, what ever happened to that?@@rogersshop

Where to order it
I purchased mine from rockler.com
Everything That have read says that the fence is made in Canada
When I bought mine, several years ago, it was marked Made In USA, Decatur, IL
Too big and bulky
Depends on use. This is perfect for what I use it for and very seldom ever take it off the saw table. With my mods, it is heavy. But also, very stable.
