Adam, at this point the video is 3 yrs old. I hope you learned about riving knives since then. I once had an uncle come over to rip form spreaders for concrete forms. We used my old Sears. He kinda protested which side I ripped on...but he was a shop teacher at a high school before retiring. I said, "Uncle, I worked in a hardwood lumber mill for four years. I feel confident in using this old saw any way I want." He calmed down. I had some Fat Tire ale in the fridge. He had never tried it. It was a nice visit. I'm not sure what beer he really likes. Were both German American but he's pretty straight laced and conservative. Its kinda sad. Our original immigrant ancestor was listed as a Cooper on the 1860 Census. None of us has made beer that I know of. It's on my bucket list. Grandma's side was Bavarian. Dad's side was Prussian. I think it will be a nice Pilsner style. Nothing too fancy at first. Maybe a Hefeweissen later. You know, you could go beyond just bagpipes if you're in the mood for Scottish culture. I like Dick Gaughan. His Redwood Cathedral was pretty interesting. Might ken ye to a more subtle, emotional side.
Adam, a riving knife will substantially reduce your kickback risk. Most safety gear gets in the way, not these. I have one on my sawstop and I only need to remove it when I install the dado blade.
Ah. Irn-Bru. You just made my day! I'm a Swede, I live in Sweden, but I had the fortune of discovering Irn-Bru at a scout camp many years ago. Nowdays it DO happen that stores get a few cases. I have no idea why, but I have more than once gotten a phonecall from a friend about it, then driven to whatever store and had the store clerk look weirdly at me as I came up with a few cases of it to the counter. Hashtag-not-addicted. ;)
Suddenly, every single commenter is Scottish, lmao. Edit: British people don't get offended over people doing our accents, enjoy yourself, we love hearing them.
IIRC, it was never offered on the 66 (but I might be wrong). I installed one on my 1950’s era cast iron table saw and it was a huge PITA. Though the hole in my shop wall from a kickback incident was enough incentive.
There's an easy trick to writing a good repair or assembly manual: grab someone from the front office who's never done anything like the procedure before and watch what they get wrong. I wrote an umpty page manual to manufacture components for a model sailboat once upon a time and that was the key. That and good photos!
This is one of those builds where I have no idea what he's making from the title, and then even as I'm watching still have no idea what he's making, and yet I watch regardless.
As the Irish guy with 15+ continuous years of bagpipe playing experience. The beauty of a fair chunk of bagpipe tunes is that they are considered "classical" and open source. That said PLEASE look up "world pipeband championships 2019 / Field Marshal Montgomery Pipeband" and look for the medley segments next time you want to sample bagpipe music.
Irn-Bru has been made in Scotland for 120 years. Right from the start their adverts featured athletes engaged in typically Scottish sports that require great strength such as Tossing the Caber. This is a sport where (in very basic terms) the athlete throws a 20 foot long, 180 lb telegraph pole so that it flips end-over-end. Since the 1980s it has been advertised with the tagline "Made in Scotland from girders" usually featuring drinkers of Irn-Bru becoming unusually strong, durable, or magnetic. Irn-Bru is made and sold in USA. The version sold in America is slightly altered from the original to comply with FDA regulations. It is generally available where there is a significant community of people from Scotland.
12:24 - Neatly sidestepped the rights issue by overdubbing that section with what I presume is royalty-free bagpipe music. (Yeah, an impact driver doesn't keep making that noise when it's off the nut!)

I was doing dock work for a little while and for a bit I was using hand wrenches and such, upgraded to a socket bit for my impact driver, made my job a lot easier
The quickest and best way to set a saw is with an adjustable parallel and a dial caliper. That's because every blade cuts differently, and .005-008 can make a big difference. Someone send that man a flashlight!

Hashtag-not-addicted. ;)
If the bagpipes don't shake your bones, you not playing it loud enough!
irn-bru is one of the best sodas to ever come out of Scotland. I use to drink it back home in Edinburgh before I moved to Canada when I was younger.
Suddenly, every single commenter is Scottish, lmao.
Edit: British people don't get offended over people doing our accents, enjoy yourself, we love hearing them.
Also isn't it illegal in the US? I think there's some food colouring or something that we allow but the US don't, for some reason.
@@kingofbengland Not sure, I'm English, wouldn't be surprised tho lol
@@kingofbengland It used to be but they changed the formula a good few years ago. Not sure if that was for the export market only though.
@@PaulParkinson The export is different over here. Not sure what it is but it doesn't taste the same.
Lol to this day you can still find new-ish posts from Brits about Dick Van Dyke’s horrible cockney accent in the 1964 Mary Poppins movie 🤣
Adam Savage, the only American that can pronounce Edinburgh correctly, i have always appreciated that, 🏴💜😀
"I don't have Covid ok !!??!!" Sounds like something someone who is disillusioned with the symptoms of Covid would say
It _is_ a pretty cliché sentence 😂
Yup, Adamn is a modern day Typhoid Mary!
COVID jokes are lame. You’re better than this Adam.
This Bill has seriously made Adam's day!
He certainly made mine!
The table saw needs another upgrade: a riving knife. Greatly helps in preventing kickback and injury.
IIRC, it was never offered on the 66 (but I might be wrong). I installed one on my 1950’s era cast iron table saw and it was a huge PITA. Though the hole in my shop wall from a kickback incident was enough incentive.
I'm guessing that it was Craig Ferguson that sent you the Scottish treats.
@@tiacho2893 The cut above my right eyebrow (not covered by safety glasses) was enough incentive for me.
New channel tagline. "It's almost like I know what I'm doing."
shout out to the editor for avoiding copyright claims the creative way :-)
I'm 46 and I still have to say "Righty tighty, lefty loosy" to myself.
That and the alphabet song.
Still have to think about which is left and right. Thank goodness for watches and wedding rings.
(Yeah, an impact driver doesn't keep making that noise when it's off the nut!)
the manufacturer seems like a stand up guy. He must have really enjoyed making those for you. i want to try that soda now that flavor sounds interesting then again i like jack fruit. theres nothing like breathing new life into an old piece of equipment.
I certainly try ....... Bill Choate
@@billychoate9069I need a set of these for my saw. How can I order some?
Love tha Scottish accent, sounds like me old teacher ^^,
I was lucky enough to spend three months in Lossiemouth near Inverness, Scotland working with the RAF. Right near the Whiskey Trail with a room in a Bed and Breakfast. Haggis, Scotch eggs, full Scottish breakfasts and Scotch whiskey!
I've always tried to understand the "tingling" that ASMR aficionados talk about.
And I've never had luck until Adam burped into my headphones 🤣🤣🤣
Why of all noises did that work? Also I'm not mad, just laughing and confused.
I was doing dock work for a little while and for a bit I was using hand wrenches and such, upgraded to a socket bit for my impact driver, made my job a lot easier
I was introduced to Iror Bru last year by my ex. It's...different.
You should definitely add a Riving Knife to that table saw if it supports one. That will prevent almost all kickback accidents.
Must have been a cold day in the shop lol #bulletnips
That “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes is a surefire way to get my dog, Lincoln, to howl like a wolf.
“Cutting something is the last thing we want to do with the table saw.”
What’s the point of having a table saw, then?!
To store stuff under it...
Very Cool Upgrade to your Table Saw , Adam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, now we know MY alexa will respond to you now Adam....:)
The quickest and best way to set a saw is with an adjustable parallel and a dial caliper. That's because every blade cuts differently, and .005-008 can make a big difference. Someone send that man a flashlight!
Made in Scotland from girders! Or I bars as mericans would say. Oh it does make you burp.
Here in new england its girders as well or I beams.
Haha👍I think it was Jamie on MB that called it that
I mean to each there own but I wouldn't gird anything of mine with a girder so I beam with excitement when it's called a I beam. Haha but depends where in 'merica you are in some places they are called girders (east coast)
Adam,
You are a much more trusting person than I for ingesting food some random person sent you. There is no easy way to guarantee that none of it was tampered with making it harmful if not deadly to you.
Looks like Adam needs at least 1 ratchet ring spanner ("wrench") -first reaction.. ha ha. Adam said it after an eternity of struggle
I was thinking the same thing!
Btw, I love those cuts when Adam walks offscreen and then it is cut so he instantly walks back on screen. Really good bit of editing.
also the regular speed audio is a nice touch when fast forwarding though I dont mind a bit of high pitched mouse audio it can be entertaining.
Totally first
yes, yes you are
