*ME TOO!!!!!* 👍👍 👋👋👋👋👋👋 I'm sorry but I REFUSE to Fly her with Propellers!! 😠😡 I realize that it was a cost consideration... But we're STILL waiting! 😯😞 I flew the real one!! (I CHEATED like crazy!!) 😜 She was a 2-seat Trainer. I was only an E6.... But had a Pilot's license and a Dad who was a Full Bird! He took her out, because the Tower was watching (they KNEW me!) Once up, of course I took the Stick!! She was CRAZY!!! 😳 like a 737 Powered Stunt Plane! (The A-10 Engines are similar to the 737-400) Nearly made an former SR-71 Pilot THROW UP!!! 😳😳😃 I was 27, and in MUCH better shape than I'm in now... Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Flite Test IS in the process of turning my "BDF" design into a power-pack for future jet kits, and would be a retrofit into their existing A-10 SBK. Stay tuned!
Fantastic work and flights. Keep the good work going. I have fitted your design fowler flaps onto my A10 and hope to try it out in the next couple of days weather permitting. (Typical UK weather) And yes, please, please, upload 3D stl files and prop info. I want to build a second A10 with the fan design and retracts. A separate build video on the fans would help all your followers I am sure.
Definitely need to grind a flat on the gear legs. No matter how much you tighten them, grub screws just can’t keep wire from spinning. It won’t take more than a few seconds with a Dremel though, and you won’t have any more issues. It would be great to see a much more technical video on these ducted props too. The details of the print, getting them properly assembled and adjusted, what props to use, how much thrust they create, how efficient they are, etc. Thank you.
Hi Ben Very impressive conversion, which i also want to apply to my newly purchased FT-A-10 can you tell me the duct fan/engine type you used what are the optiomal Batteries what type of landing gear did you use have you got some fotos of the built phase duct fan and other looking forward to hear from you regards Rob
Not so much on the A-10 build but for another EDF style, do you think you would get much benefit from "stacking" the fans one behind the other in the nacelle?
Unfortunately, no. I myself as well as many others have tried this over the years, and it just doesn’t produce the results we expect. They don’t behave like contra-props. If you want more thrust out of an EDF, you put them side-by-side, not inline.
Pretty fantastic job, Ben! Really great flying! 😃 BTW, I made a small "FPV board"... With a camera and 20x20 VTX. (There's a picture on my community tab and I also posted on the FliteTest Facebook group.) It's something pretty simple, but I'm thinking about making a plan for it. What you think?
I have some 2212 2200kv ,2400kv and 2750kv or 2208 2600KV..I have a box full of 5x3 x5 props and 40A esc...I can come close to around 5lb . More or less. Im waiting for my 3300 3S 65C..It dosnt need to go super fast. I used to be in the AF..Watch a couple of A-10s visited one day...They did all kinds cool manuvers before they landed. If you were an enemy on the ground... You do not want to see that thing fly like that with that gun on it's nose. He was probably using me as target practice.lol..He soluted me as he flew over.... I like you wing mount idea. Even my modify FT cub has screw in wing mount.. Even though I dont disaysymbal it for transfer. i have a hate rubber band...fetichs (.lol) Yeap..A-10 and Lear jets. The Greatplane lear jet was the last balsa kit I built.I always wanted it to be more scale. Maybe a B-1 someday...when my building skills gets better. I was in the B-1 squadron. 4 EDF ...with different wing swept configurations...maybe with just only 2-ea motors. They used to do take off and go all day long...sometimes they'll pull into a vertical after a touch halfway down the runway :-P That's was sick...because that jet is big in real life but can fly like fighter...but she can spread her wings and slow down. I still want to build an F-4 because my dad was tecnhician for them during Vetnamh war. I used to watch them take off and land everyday..walk with my dad to the base every morrning. Blues Angels practice where I live
So glad to see someone do a successful EDF version of the FT A10

You stuck that landing like a boss.
You are awesome Ben, I really enjoy watching your videos and drool at your builds lol thank you for sharing
The DYI edf will really add a great dimension to foam board builds. Thanks for pioneering it.
Excellent!!! The world's 1st STOL A-10!..lol..and to be able to hand launch so well shows the weight is hardly an issue..GREAT JOB!
Nice work, Ben! Thank you for making that amazing A-10 work with power from the engine pods!
Wow! Sketchy launch but awsome recovery. The A10 is spectacular! Thanks for what you add to the hobby!
Seriously! You owe me two new front teeth to replace the ones I just broke watching that hand launch... Awesome job buddy! That looks fantastic!
I would really like to see the motor mount scheme and your design of the prop ducting. Thanks
Grinding flats on the Struts will fix the Main Gear issue...
That was bar none, awesome!!! Looking forward to an EDF Kit for the A-10!!

Now THAT'S exciting news!! Thanks Ben! 🍺👍👍
Awesome build Ben! Now I am excited to build my kit. Definitely going to go with the BDF's on mine! A-10 FTW. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrttt!

grind flat spots where the screw contact the struts..that'll do it awesome flight
What a great platform for experimentation. It even gives me hope for my own builds.
It's good to see you flying skills are catching up with you genius for design and build. Ben, Well Done! Jim
Absolutely fantastic build! Thank you for sharing this
Awesome build and it’s looks more like the original A-10. 👍 I hope you get the struts fixed.
Congratulations! Will the plans for the motors be made available?
*YES!!!!!!* 😃😃😃
Beautifull job on the A-10!
What retracts are you using. Great job on adding more realism with the EDF's rather than the props on the nacelles.

I've gotta build one of those. That looks like alot of fun without spending a fortune.

@@TheHarberHangar thanks! The sort of build I was thinking of was an SR-71 or a Delta Dart.
Great job Ben!
Awesome brother glad it worked out .👍👍 What did you end up using for props ? 😁
Gemfan 3-blade 4052, they worked way better than the 4-blade 4045’s.
I’ll add a link in the description soon.
@@TheHarberHangar awesome I've always wanted to make one but never liked the way the prop version looked. 👍👍👍bet sales of the A10 go up now ✌
yo ben can ya post your 3d fan housing

Oh, before I forget. The description in the community tab is written both in Portuguese and English. 😊
Looks great!
are you flying in CM?

That style flap is called " split flap " not fowler.
NICE!!
Where is the BRRRRRRRRT!? LoL
