When you switched to the one that you called darker, I thought that it sounded really cool and bluesy! :) At first, I thought of this color as like mac and cheese haha. I like it!
I have several top shelf guitars. I just picked up a damaged Ibanez AZSE40 from Musicians Friend. Had been dropped on the tail and needed some body work only. Easy fix and got it new for half price. Thought I would swap out the pickups. Nope!!! Not going to do that. Sounds better than my 90s Strat. Much better. And the build is amazingly top craftmanship. Ibanez accidently created an inexpensive Top Shelf guitar! Funny..of all my guitars my favorites are a custom made Epiphone LP Special II-Ltd and this thing!!! These ceramic pickups are a different breed.
I’m having this debate. I have the money to buy a Fender American Performer 2. $1300? I played (very very badly) in high school. I’m 59. Is it worth spending the extra $$$?
I’d say it can be worth it, if you spend the extra money you will have an instrument with a higher degree of craftsmanship. It all depends on what you feel comfortable spending.

I did have to do 2 required MODs. Replaced the plastic NUT with a Graphite Nut. And lowered it as well. And float the Trem.
I kinda like how these have a 25” scale length
I liked that about it as well.

Come visit me in Nashville and test out my bass guitar.
Always wanted to see Nashville! Maybe someday. What kind of bass do you have?
