I did these front links and also made rear links that ran from the knuckle to the upper rear arm mount on the diff, made such a big difference and with some homemade tie-rods gives adjustable alignment in every direction
If you use 0.3mm shims with 5mm ID on the upper plastic arms where it fits to the gearbox cover and 0.1mm shims on the lower arms it removes the slop from that point. The shims only need to fitted to one side and mirrored for the rear. Ive raced at a meeting twice now and it has made such a difference. They will also fit on a TT-01. Core-RC make a set.
Great job. Looks great as well. Some part numbers would be helpful for the newbies like myself 😃 I ordered the 5x8x0.1 and 5x8x0.3mm shims as a first step, lets improve 😃
This is a much needed mod on ta01 and ta02 chassis. Interestingly this is kinda what you call a compression strutt. I have them on my actual mk2 escort and they replace the anti roll bar.
Actually in this orientation, as with your Escort they are tension struts. Compression struts would run from the suspension arm rearward to the chassis. They work wonders on Escorts, as you are no doubt aware. You can also lower the front attachment point slightly and gain an element of anti dive.
Thanks for this trick. I did it today putting ball joints and a washer on top. Mines coupled with a steering kit though. Slop be gone! My turnbuckles end up being 57mm
Wow! It really works well with mine too!! Very sturdy movement. I love mine TT02 so much better than other high-end machines now. Thank you thank you!!
These front links only hold the front arms firmly at certain angle. If the front arms lowered a bit, the clearance becomes larger and the links dont fix tightly anymore
I’m building the 1/10 Subaru Impreza 99 Monty Carlo as we speak and I’m to the part where the shocks are assembled . I absolutely could not believe what I was putting together ...I’ve never seen in all my 42 years “ new bright “ shocks on a Tamiya rc or any hobby grade for that matter . Am I crazy or are these things junk ? Won’t even lock together right witch leaves slop witch hinders drivinig witch risks a good curb or parked car collision ... sorry fail bullshit Tamiya wtf . It was some Chinese after market part that came with blue aluminum knuckles, but ball bearings weren't fit so I just ended up using O ring spacer which is same as that you use for TT02 kit
@@simpleisthebest73 also where did you get you tie rod that attaches to the bumper? I like your set up. I have the rcaidong steering upgrade but still some play from the friction balls in the arms

@@Syx696 it's a tap screw from hardware store just found in my tool box, and nut is from DF02 hop up parts aluminum oil damper set. Just extra parts from it. You can find anything that fits. Whatever it works. Good luck friend! 😉
These are all just leftover parts from my other RC kits. Plastic spacer is from CVA damper parts, and I use long hollow screws or cut off screw head as turn buckle linkage, and just need some ball connectors.

With the 0.1mm shims for the lower arms do you no the inner diameter hole? I have all yeah racing bits and find the slop is quite bad on the rear

Do you have a link for the parts please?
Great job, has improved my whole steering, thanks
I'm glad that it's working out for you.
My TT02 is very solid without those links, no movement at all. And for the best steering use tt02 type s part number 54965
Some interesting ideas, thanks for sharing!

thats actually genius , thanks mate :)
why have you put your shocks on upside down does it make any difference if your doing speed runs ?
Thanks! Great video. 🙌
Thanks very much my friend!
Nice.! 👍 👍 👍

And thanks I’m going to try the steering DYI
Mounting the shock upside down actually hurts performance of the shock, just a FYI

Why would it hurt the performance?

Nice job....the original TT02 front suspension is too loose... the bottom arms are nice , but upper arms and knuckles joint.......

Why are the shocks upside down? Is it better with handling at all?
Lowerling cg but it has a oil leak problem.
Those stabilizers. Aren’t necessary at all. You should adjust the steering link heights. The slop the stabilizer stops first change performance.
Thanks! I will keep that in my mind 😌
