This is why I love CrossFit. It has taught me that being strong is beautiful and I am surrounded by such tremendous role models every time I step foot in the box. I'm so grateful and this video put those feelings into words.
i do martial arts, i used to think CrossFit was stupid. Ive done a complete 180. RESPECT. The ethos of challenging yourself, pushing men, women, and children to achieve their potential, ive even started to incorporate some of the routines into my training and it humbled me and given me more appreciation for this. hopefully it continues to take off!
Great video, as a leader within the military I have the honor of seeing strong young women do amazing things everyday. I am proud to see my female Soldiers push themselves and grow beyond even what they thought was possible. Great video and thank you again!!!
I like this video and I appreciate women who do CrossFit, I am inspired by their tenacity and drive. In response to the quote regarding women not needing men to protect them, I think it’s important to remember that men do have many important roles to play in this world and protecting women is one of them. So while a woman is capable of incredible physical feats, I am convinced even a games level female would not mind a man stepping in to defend her from a lethal threat confrontation by an aggressive attacker. Good men still have a responsibility and desire to protect women, it’s within us.
My mother raised 5 children and she is beautiful and strong. She never ever did a push up or felt tb need to prove her toughness. The message of this video is well intended but it can hurt more than encourage young ladies. Be balanced Mr. Crossfit.
+Daniel Vilciu I'm sure your Mom is as described, but motherhood isn't exactly a re-framing of assumptions and limitations we impose based on gender. The ladies have been the go to on motherhood for a while.
My mother puts the mother in motherhood:). I'm just going for a more balanced position. Not all ladies need to be mothers and not all mothers need to be physically strong.
It's sad that this is still a topic that needs to be addressed so heavily, but it's reassuring to know that this legendary community is going against the current of self-hatred that the media is shoving in women's faces eight days a week
I am a devoted Crossfitter. Yet this video makes me wonder, is a woman's value measured by how well she physically competes against men? I'm grateful for my wife and my mother, who excel on a field that I can't even step onto: motherhood. I believe women are as good and valuable to society as men. I just don't want to see the role of mother marginalized, as if that's what women do who can't get out there and compete with men. What person has more influence over the course of society than a good woman who teaches her children right from wrong and helps them develop the foundation that the rest of their life will rest on? My wife runs a faster 5k than I do, but that's not what impresses me most about her. She has a commitment to the next generation that has lifted her to heights that I can barely see from where I'm at. I don't want the conversation of the value of men and women to devolve into a question of which one is better when stacked against the other. That's an unhealthy view. The relationship between men and women shouldn't be a competitive one. If men are awesome, there's not less of it for women, and vice versa.
+Clint Edwards I think you make a valid point. I think a woman should be valued whether she does crossfit, is a stay at home mom, or runs triathlons. I think a large point of this video isn't to say that women who don't look or do cross fit aren't great. Its not to demean those who don't. Instead, I think it speaks to that of an even playing field. That women have a choice. That we shouldn't have a narrow worldview, instead that we have the potential to do anything.
I think the video itself is really inspiring. Though the question that comes into my mind is: if women are so strong then why are the prescribed weights not the same for both men and women? Obviously there is an evolutionary discrepancy between male and female upper body strength, but this does not mean that women are not as strong or stronger than men. To me it seems that Crossfit is giving the women an easier time just because they're women. It seems almost like institutionalized sexism. Don't get me wrong, I love Crossfit and everything about it. This video just makes me question why, for instance, women have to throw a 14 pound ball to a 9 foot target whereas men have to throw a 20 pound ball to a 10 foot target. Women possess equal, if not greater, lower body strength when compared to men and most of the power generated in a wall ball, or thruster, or deadlift, etc... Is generated primarily from the core to the legs. Any thoughts?
+Grant Satterthwaite Because women athletes are not as strong as male athletes. Look at their numbers. Go to games.crossfit.com and check them compared to the guys. If the standards were the same and there was no male or female divisions then there would be no Pro-Female Crossfitters just like in football and Basketball. There is nothing sexist about it, it is just recognizing that men and women are different.
+Aaron C. Thank you for your swift and educated response. It all makes so much more sense to me now. You're 100% correct in your statement. Much appreciated!
@@ballsmcgee53 This is true, and conversely women generally find getting into bendy yoga postures like lotus much easier than men. While encouraging women to do more strength training is good, the top man will always beat the top woman in weightlifting. And the most flexible female gymnast/yogi will always be able to do a contortion that a male gymnast/yogi can't do. CrossFit encouraging strength training and a muscular aesthetic among women is good, but biological differences are real and I wonder if the games should have a couple more flexibility events where women have an advantage?
I want my daughter to be strong, with strength comes confidence. Thank you crossfit

One of the things I love about CrossFit is that women and men have the same attention, something hard to see in other sports. CrossFit for life!

simply, amazing! CrossFit is the best thing to happen to this planet in a long time! (Y)
What makes the difference is the community of CrossFit. According to me, no other sports have such a united spirit within the competitors.
Crossfit: the bastard child of a bodybuilder and an athlete

This was a nice piece. Who's the poet?
What was the other video crossfit released about rising up or something, it was similar to this but about the games or just crossfit in general
Watching this again after reading nasty comments about US Rugby star Ilona Maher. Crossfit should sponsor her. People need to grow up.
Good message, bad narrator.

We can do pullups incorrectly and call them "efficient".
+SuperAwfulWaffle The def. of "pull-up" is just that. Pulling your chin above the bar, so I see no fault.
Go eat a waffle
The fittest woman on Earth wouldn't even place in the 16-17 year old male division.
The downsize is that some of this women just stopped being feminine.
i dont care for crossfit but these women are phenomenal
