I'm on a similar journey in my playing. Using solo and practicing intervalic functions. These videos are helpful for me to see where I should be at in my own practice. Good stuff

This is great Tom! Your honest and open approach is refreshing… and your playing is nice on the ear. Looking forward to seeing how the world of intervals unfolds…

Keep it up my guy! On the same exacty journey and get just as frustrated every night lol. Do you have any specific videos on how to get better at learning the scales from an interval perspective?

Visualise the chord shapes and relay back to yourself what the intervals are that are found within it, for example an A minor chord is A C E (A is 1 C is the minor 3rd and E is the 5th) each interval gives its own colour against the chord allowing you to experiment playing with the colours and providing extended harmonic context, hope this helps :), you can also count through your minor scale to find all the possible intervals which go from 1-7 before repeating again.

Just watched your first two vids. The improv at the end of this one sounds great! I already have the 2 point system course and the bulletproof guitar course, but haven’t had the chance to start them yet. With your knowledge and hindsight now, what order would you recommend them in? Or would you mix and do some of both simultaneously? Thanks and I’m really enjoying this series so far!

Interestingly, I’m doing Bulletproof along with using the Solo app too. Did you complete Bulletproof? It seems like you’re focusing much more on 2 point intervals. You haven’t mentioned triads or anything from Bulletproof in your practicing. I’m curious as to how you see them in comparison to helping your advancement because you sure look like you’re moving ahead.

I just know the sound of the notes in relationship to the root....
I don't know names or numbers....
I play very well in my opinion 🤷

You play by ear and that's awesome. Something I definitely need to practice more. But not knowing the notes/intervals is definitely limiting if you want to communicate with other musicians. But to each their own and if that's not your goal, more power to you. I believe it's important to just be making music, and there's no right or wrong.
