My parents kept a STAR 9mm under the counter at their sandwich shop. Thankfully it was never needed. After their passing my sister inherited it. Her house was flooded with 4ft of water during HARVEY. So was the gun. After several weeks and after cleanup she asked me to check it out. I must say it was an impressive firearm. Heavy, accurate and solid as steel can be. Really like that pistol.

The FEG 9×18 and .380ACP have been some of the best handguns I have used. They are so accurate that I use them both for target practice and hunting small game. My daughter took her first deer with the 9×18 at 20 yards with a head shot using the Hornaday 95gr flexlock round. She was 8 years old. Now all she likes is hunting with a handgun with me. Plus the rabbit and squirrel hunting makes competition shooting easier.
That was a great video! I wish I could take you back to the early '90s gun shows. I bought new Russian SKS rifles for $159.00, Chinese short and long barreled for $99.00-119.00, and crates and crates of new Makarov pistols of all types, Tokarevs, Helwans, etc. If it was made in the Soviet Bloc, you could buy it! Likewise, ammo was very cheap, but there was a ton of corrosive ammo out there that you had to be careful of. I once accidentally bought some corrosive 9X18. I wish I had bought more guns than I did. My 1949 Russian SKS has yet to be fired, and it's beautiful. All machined trigger group, etc. A lot of people get the pp thing wrong. To my understanding, the PP was the standard long barrel and long magazine. PPk is the short barreled w/longer magazine, and the PPk's was the short barreled, short magazine model best suited for pocket carry. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the long mag held 8rnds and the short one held 6, but I could be wrong. Anyway, great Job! I'm looking forward to more of your videos. I wouldn't mind having the #1 Steyr pistol. I'm a real Steyr fan, but have never seen one to my knowledge.
Yes, I started collecting milsurp pistols and rifles because I like history, and I liked to shoot. U.S. surplus costs a ton in comparison to the Russian and Soviet designed weapons (Because the Russians made MILLIONS of them). I recall buying a Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle with 1,200 rounds of ammo for about $99.00
The PP was the original Walther SA/DA police pistol introduced in 1929. The PPK was the short barrel/short grip version introduced as a detective pistol. The short PPK grip made the gun too small to be imported under regulations of the the 1968 US gun control act. So the grip was enlarged to the PP version, creating the US-legal short-barrel/long grip PPKs. I have a later German import PPKs from the late '70s in .380. Afterwards, when Wather production was started in the US, the PPK became available here again.
In the early 90s I bought a Chinese sks for 85$ new it came with an oil can, and ammo belt, only thing was you needed to clean the packing grease out of the barrel before shooting, lol, mine was flawless I used it deer hunting, bought a 30rnd mag and folding stock for it later lol, I miss it they go for over 300$ now a lots changed since the 90s
Thats crazy to hear bud, I bought a Chinese Norinco Paratrooper (short) SKS for 450 bones, don't regret it though a great shooter, but damn I wish those prices were still viable.
Ah! A nice trip down memory lane. In addition to the dirt cheap SKS and Mosin Nagant rifles that followed me home from every gun show, I picked up a surplus new PA-63 for a $100. I didn't know anything about it, but I wasn't going to leave it there at that price. I do have two major regrets. A dealer was selling a huge stack of Romanian AKs for $200 each. I decided to walk around the show first to see if there was anything else I wanted instead. When I got back to the dealer he said, "I just sold the last one." I believe the next day was the day the prices on all AKs skyrocketed because I never saw another one at that price ever again. My other regret was from a time when a buddy had a Russian SKS he brought with us to a gun show to sell. I'm not sure if he was the idiot for selling it for $100, or if I was the idiot for not being the one to buy it.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. I had to comment and let you know how much I enjoyed it. It's not very often that I learn stuff when watching youtube. I found you super knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to. So much info in a short amount of time. Thanks for sharing!
I actually now have 3 of your list. P64 - beautiful little pistol. New Wolff springs and Polish Iron grips to make a whole lot nicer. Had to buy a Beretta 81 to go with a 92s and a 92FS. Sexy little collection. Gotta agree, the Star BM is the best feeling surplus I've found. Not entirely, but very much like a commander sized 1911. Shoots like a dream. Fell victim to the dry fire firing pin issue. Snapped right in half. Bought a new production pin from Jack First. I have to believe modern metallurgy will hold up better than the original. To your last comment, I bought all 3 from local businesses. They all cost about $30 more than Classic or JG. Easily offsets shipping and transfer fees. Essentially the same cost, got to handle, buy on the spot and puts money in the pockets of good guys.
REMEMBER THE 1960's, when you could buy lots of surplus pistols MAIL ORDER for $20-$30 ? My hubby bought an Astra 600 for $20, and ammo was only $5/ 100 rds. !
Nobby Barnes I remember when Bill signed Asian free trade, that didn’t help the situation. It created a vacuum. It was greed that outsourced labor and manufacturing, thinking it was a Republican phenomenon shows your ignorance. So lay off the name calling, it doesn’t make you credible.
Using a US CPI calculator (which isn't perfect but gives an idea), the $5 box of ammo is $41 in today's dollars and the gun is $165 today. Not too wildly out of the ballpark.
Good video, thanks. A couple of years ago I bought one of the Star BM from grabagun $199. The gun was awesome, reliable and accurate. I liked it so much I ordered two more. These pistols are very well made, shoots any type of 9mm ammo without any hiccups. In my opinion these pistols are very underrated.
Good video, brother! My Serbian Tokarev 7.62x25 is why I upgraded my armor to steel! I have collected several AKs, finally settled on an RPK-47 and a Polish underfolder Paratrooper AKM. I microfile the rear sights and open them up some, using flat black paint to fix them. My RPK has hit tennis balls on the deck at 350 yards! I wish I could find another new condition one, although break in was a trial until I found Militec-1 Bonding oil, used for machine guns. I love that Beretta pistol, they have been making weps since the 1400s! I have a 90-TWO pistol, wasn't out long, sadly. It is an ice cold tack driver! I have it as a complement piece with my Beretta Carbine. I'm an old school survivalist, disabled vet. Having interchangeable mags, ammo is always good. My carbine carries an OPMOD full color Night Vision scope. It can even record or transmit in real time! I didn't have stuff that good back in SpecOps! Optics Planet is where I got the scope at a steal a few years back, around $600! I will be watching you from now on, brother! Maybe you could do some critiques and info on the various import and domestic AKs?
I knew the Star was going to make the top! This was my carry gun I bought in around 1974-75! Solid guns. Classic Firearms, I'm sure has spare mags, pricey! Back then the only ammo we carried was Super-Vel, the gun held up great! Best to ya',,,,HAPPY NEW YEAR!
You knew it would make it to the top....you are a smart man! lol. The price of these Stars makes them one of the best bargains I can remember in recent years. You have a lot more experience with it than me, but I know it is a great gun. 👍 Happy New year to you and yours too. Best to you as always!
Except for the Zastava .32, I've acquired all of these surplus pistols over the past few years, most from local dealers or private sales. My favorite surplus 'Tokarev' is the Yugo Zastava M57 for it's longer grip and extra magazine capacity. I also have a Zastava 'TT' M70 in 9mm. Downside with any online buy is the gun you get may not be as nice as the one you expect. Also, the average buyer will need to add shipping, FFL and sales-tax to these online sale prices. That said, based on reviews, I ordered a Beretta 81 from Classic last year. I was very pleased with the condition of the one I received. Plus, I ordered a second, new pistol from them at the same time, and was able to combine shipping & FFL charges. Otherwise, in the past year I've been able to find the M88, CZ70, and AP7.65 locally for at or under $200. I also got a beautiful Polish 'TT-type', which has the original Russian slide serrations, though it cost considerably more than an M57.
@Weedman Classic still lists the surplus .32 Beretta 81 for $210, a surplus 7.62x25 Zastava M57 for $220, and a new 9mm Zastava M70a for $350. In my state DK firearms has been selling these at local shows for about the same price, or a bit more, so one can inspect the pistol first and avoid the extra $50 or so for shipping and FFL charges.
@@MichaelMichael-iz1jq I don't understand why some call the Tokarevs ugly. They're modeled after Browning's pre-1911 hammerless pistol designs, which collectors pay big bucks for, especially the 1903 Colt. The Russians just updated it with the 1911's delayed-recoil swinging-link and a modest rounded external hammer. Plus they designed a modular sear & hammer assembly that simply pops out for repair or replacement once the slide is removed. I think the Tokarevs are sleeker and more pocketable (at least in a large coat pocket) compared to the 1911 with it's protruding beaver-tail and hammer-spur. Certainly more graceful than today's chunky, blocky, tactical plastic pistols. Plus the Tokarevs high-velocity ammo, which some compare to 357 magnum.
Dont buy very many guns online or from classic,j&g,aim, ect. Either. My go to gun store is very good to me and pretty good about letting me know what they get in either on trade or if the distributor is offering something I want. He just sends me a pic or a snap and gives me a price. We really dont even barter much anymore. I've gotten almost all of my surplus firearms from him and same or less than online. Like you say the shipping and transfer fees are 25% of the price.
I love my p64 pretty sure it was brand new when I got it was-is in excellent condition I've ran about 10 boxes thru it with no malfunctions and dang good accuracy built very well
I remember about 15 years ago I got a nice Star model BM in 9x19 with two mags and a cleaning rod in the original box for $150 at a gun show. It's a 1911 style pistol that fits in most Commander size holsters. Only problem with it was that the mainspring was weak and wouldn't detonate the primers sometimes. Also it would only cycle 115 gr. FMJ. Anything else would jam up. Still a nice gun if I had replaced the mainspring (hammer spring), especially for the price.
For sure. Bought 4 of them bout a year ago when they sent a bunch over,$170 only one mag tho. Two shoot anything, one is a bit finicky. Haven't shot the other. Accuracy is pretty decent. Mine came in a little green box and had an owner's manual in Spanish along with the cleaning rod.
Did you get a more budgeted version? I got one from JG sales, very good condition & it fires 124gr infallibly. I use Fenix Ammunition, maybe that's why? They're prominent amongst pro shooters and have a good reputation.
@@turns-jt7te Mine seems to be completely original. I have a feeling it would do fine if I got some new springs for it. Maybe I’ll do that one day. I can’t remember what all ammo I tried in it. Federal and Winchester I think.
@@andyblack5687 by budgeted i meant they come in differing conditions from very good to gun Smith special which requires work, not firing. EGW makes barrel bands. I guess they break easy on the star. I just got 2 of them for about $15 JG sales has a lot of parts. I was surprised what they offer.
I like the military surplus pistols! They get discounted based on their price but if you look a little closer or under a different light. Those very same guns if they were manufactured today in the US they would be more than $600. I say that because the frame is all machined and not made of polymer. Machining always adds significant price.
Hay l'm a new subscriber but from what I saw you are really thorough and precise instructions, and demonstration of said weapons. I really appreciate that. Hope you do more videos on these items but also revolver handgun as well. Keep up the great work
My first foray into milsurp is the Zastava M70 pistol, in part because of this video and because they are all over GunBroker. Got mine for $190. But... How in the world do I find another mag for this gun??? Can't find it anywhere.
Great video... you featured three firearms I'm lucky to own: I have two Radom P-64s, one with the round hammer, the other with triangular hammer, a Yugo M57, and a Romanian TT33. The P-64s were my EDC for a long time, until the current generation of lighter weight 9mm offerings (e.g., Ruger LC9s, and Sig P365). My M57 is a sweet, sweet shooter (really accurate!) and I really like that 7.62x25mm Tok caliber; the TT33 has a rougher trigger, and a little less capacity than the M57, but still a very nice, sturdy handgun, especially for the money! On the DA trigger pull of the P64... I replaced the OEM hammer spring with Wolff 18# hammer springs, and got much better trigger action. Not hard to do... maybe 10-15 minutes, tops.
I had a Czech m70. Decent gun but was snappier than I expected from a 32. Heavy trigger. Paid $120. Gave it to my niece who was cc. Oh came with a spare mag.
They are cool little pistols, but the trigger is a bit heavy. It depends on each pistol though. I have a few of these, and the trigger pulls vary a good bit.
I got mine Gander outdoor. Bought 2. My wife likes that Beretta 81BB is as basically unused. Surface rust on grills of racking serrations. $229 was more expensive.
Hey man, just came by your channel by chance. I am a milsurp long gun junky, but like these as well. Not a big fan of .32acp, but can appreciate the quality of these pistols. Love the TT 7.62x25. Going to check out the channel.
Hey. Glad you found my channel. I have milsurp long gun vids on here too. I am also a huge fan of all milsurps. More videos to come too. I enjoy shooting .32, but wouldnt use it for self defense. I love 7.62 Tokarev. Thanks. 👍
Have 8 of these. Most are pretty decent for what I thought they would be. Somthing different than alot of the standard American firearms. Great video! Keep up the good work!
The coolest (and only) milsurp pistol I got this year was a Baretta M9 compact for about $350 after tax. I freshened up the trigger springs and recoil spring, got new magazines and did a fresh Cerakoat job since reblueing is expensive and I had the Cerakoat already. The coolest milsurp rifle I got this year was a service grade M1 Garand from CMP but it was nowhere near $200 lol.
That sounds like a good one. I have an Italian 92s, which I also like. I love the Garand too. Good pick up there. I showed one of my Garands in my Beretta BM 59 video. I have one Korean War era and 1 from WW2. I love the Garand!
@@2aEdu my M1 Garand is International Harvester marked and in pristine condition. I honestly can't believe how good it looks and shoots. I kinda want to get a field grade just to see if the extra $ was worth it or if there's any major difference in the 2 grades.
I have an excellent condition M57 with the original flat trigger and no frame safety. I got it from Classic with the bladed trigger and then they had original flat triggers for sale too. Dude, that thing is awesome!!! MY FAV!!!
I really need to get one if these. I don't have anything in 32. It's funny how much all of these look so similar. I love milsurp! Great video as always
Really cool video. I have not looked through the archives but a video like this dedicated to Revolvers "Wheel Guns" under 400.oo would be worth watching for sure. The surplus market has become rather soiled for lack of a better term. Meaning sellers have pushed prices very high on many of the very common rifles out there. I know this was a while ago but I remember when you could get a Mosin Nagant for 49.oo and an SKS for 79.oo. you could get an entire crate of Mosins for well under 1000.oo lol..... Great video you definitely have a new subscriber....
Thank you. I only have a couple revolvers, so I don't know if I could do one like this with those. I have been into milsurps for a long time as well, and I agree with what you said. It does suck with what has happened to the milsurp market for the most part. The pistol sin this video are actually a good deal in today's money. IMO. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks.
I have the Romanian TT33. The bluing was great... but imperfectly re-applied at the arsenal before sale in the US. I had to re-blue one side of the slide due to corrosion. I also had to replace the extractor and extractor spring due to weak extraction. Zastava makes brand new TT33's. IMHO, it's worth the difference in price to buy a new one rather than roll the dice with the Romanian surplus models.
I have 2 of the Romanian M57 with the 9 mm conversion Barrel. So now I have one gun in 2 calibers. I also have a Polish tt-33 with the 9 mm conversion Barrel. I absolutely love them and we'll probably never sell them! The ones that I have have been incredibly reliable and accurate with only a few malfunctions over the years that were solved with lube. They are accurate and fun to shoot especially if you are recoil sensitive or have hand and wrist problems like I do. The tt-33 8-round magazines are still fairly reasonably priced and are not hard to come by at the moment. The Romanian M57 9 round magazines on the other hand are more on the expensive side and are harder to come by. The Romanian M57 9 round magazine easily fits into the tt-33 series and works flawlessly. The tt-33 8-round magazines will not run in an M57.
Just found the channel. I LOVE the P64. It's a great concealed carry defensive firearm. No one will ever use it unless absolutely necessary and every other option has failed. How can I say this with such confidence? I shoot as many guns as I can, and I've fired exactly one mag out of the P64. The fixed barrel transfers force through the frame directly to the shooter's hand; energy is not transformed into work as in Browning/Glock/Luger/Mauser designs. The upside is amazing accuracy. The downside is ouch!
While the Covid crisis has shut down gun-shows, a quick net-search shows the 32acp Beretta 81 and 9mm Beretta 1951 still available from some online sellers for $250, and the 7.62x25 Yugo M57 and Romainian TT pistols are at $220. Keep in mind the average buyer will pay additional for shipping, FFL, and sales-tax, which could be a deal-killer, as well as not being able to inspect condition before purchase.
Yeah. A lot has changed since I did this video. But you bring up a good point. Some of these are still avail. And well worth it in my opinion. Of course buying milsurp online is always a gamble. I 'm on the same page as you 👍
Just wanted to let you know, you got another sub. You helped me decide to buy my Star BM a few months back. And now I'm curious to see what other cheap milsurps are out there.
Thank you. I have other milsurp videos too. And more to come. 👍 Royal Tiger Imports has a bunch of milsurp rifles from all over the world that they bought from Ethiopia.
I'm an oldish guy. Once I had the defensive 3 - pistol, shotgun, rifle, I figured I'd just buy what interested me from now on. I love finding something cool and researching the history.
The Baretta 81& 84 "Cheetah" are great guns. You mentioned the FEG Hungarian pistol, their clone of the Browning Hi Power is also a great gun. If you like the Hi Power but don't like the prices, dont be afraid of the FEG surplus.
I agree. I love these Berettas. i also like the FEG surplus. I have the FEG Hi Power you are talking about and about 10 of their other pistols. Also some of their AKs too. I have done a couple videos of their AKs if you are interested in them.
@@2aEdu I have 2 actual Hi Powers, both T series. One Parkerized that was in the $400 range, which has been done full on CQB style with an original, Browning accessory, grip mounted top rail that allows full use of the iron sights and since it's not slide mounted, there is no recoil issue for the Halosun micro red dot sight and I added the under barrel rail to add a light (or laser). With the light, iron and red dot sights, this is great from point blank to beyond 100yrds. I have a pretty, blued pistol that's the "collector" grade, valued $1,300 @ time of sale which I got for $800. It has had major trigger work, mag disconnect removed and a wide trigger shoe added. It's the best, crisper, lightest trigger I've found, really art work. The Hi Power is an amazing (and my preferred) shooting weapon when properly worked. And I'm a 1911 guy. My next quest us a good FEG surplus and a new Turkish Hi Power which are every bit the quality of the old T series when the tooling was still great. (I'm avoiding the AKs, I don't need another $$ suck... lol)
Would kill to get my hands on a surplus wood grip Yugo M88A! Especially at that 2019 price point. No clue where to look though, they seem to be more sporadic these days in milsurp availability.
Nice to have these milsurp guns around, I have my regular high end guns for myself but have these milsurp guns as loaners just in case shtf, better safe than sorry.
Awesome Video.. Question for you On the Taurus G2 C you had a video on installing the lakeline threaded barrel. My question i recived mine today so what do i screw to the threaded barrel? i just recieved the Barrel thank you
I wondered if one could have a dove tail cut in to one like the m88a . And possibly mod one drill and tap change out the front site? Something to consider.
Found a Star BM for $225 OTD, but had to pay $320 OTD for a Tokarev Yugo M57. The M57 included a holster and extra mag though. That was about 2 months after this video (pre-covid). I had to pay $300 each for a Star PD and Super B a few weeks into covid. I really like that Modelo Super B. I didn't get the 81, but I bought the Beretta 85bb in November from Classic. Their price on line was $380, but I found their booth at a gun show and was able to get one in 95% condition for that price OTD. I didn't purchase any of the guns for the low base price that he paid, but I bought all mine in person so OTD means tax, selection, shipping, and FFL fees included.
I been looking at a cz 83 for quite some time! Great info great video man! Always informational as well as entertaining! Im a Milsurp freak/addict myself , love the sweet sweet smell of cosmoline XD
The CZ 83 is the .380. Which was basically a re-chambered CZ 82 for export to the USA. Those are cool too. I have a CZ 82 that will be in my upcoming Czech pistols video. Thanks man. I'm glad you liked the video. I saw you short video earlier today. I hope to see you do more videos this coming year. Good luck man!
@@2aEdu For sure! Thank you for watching man , happy to be a part of the community got big plans for this year and videos, thanks very much for the support and inspiration , your stuff is great man and your channel gonna be huge i know it! And yes 380, i didnt know they were re chambered tho man you are a wealth of information! Awesome shit!
Rookie question: when a gun is being sold as "military surplus," were they usually surplus in the sense of unused manufacturer guns? Or are they often previously used in combat. I ask because I personally own a Walther P38 that my Grandfather brought back from the World War 2, and I'm certain it may have been used in combat, I'm not even sure he didn't take it off a captured soldier himself...for my purposes, target practice and as an absolute last line of defense on my property, and for personal reasons I'd rather use a firearm that most likely hasn't mortally wounded anyone before. But I also enjoy the history and aesthetics of some of these old guns like my Grandpa's. Just wondering what the consensus is or if there's even a way to know. Thanks.
The answer is both. Some surplus guns were never used and some were used by the original country and other countries who later purchased them. Some milsurp models are more likely to be used in battle than others. And in some cases none were used by the country who originally adopted it, but were then used by another country who purchased it later. An example would be the Yugo M48 Mauser. Almost all P38s made during WW2 were almost certainly used ( or at least carried into battle) It is complicated, but hopefully I was able to help a little. lol
Yes. Indeed. But wasn't avail for 200 or less in 2019 so it didnt make this video.( think a broken/cracked grip offering was avail at Jgsales for about 200, but it didnt quite make my list because the complete ones are certainly over 200 nowadays) I am going to do a video on Czech guns soon.
Great vid. I'm just getting into learning more about milsurps so this was very informative. I really like the Beretta. I have a Star Firestar M43 & love it.
Thank you. I have lots more milsurp vids, and more to come too. I just posted a Makarov video tonight. 👍 The Beretta 81 is really cool, and I like the Star pistols too. The Firestars are also nice.
@@2aEdu I'll be checking it out for sure...Idk if u ever get into refinishing these pistols, but if u do, making a vid of the detailed strip/complete breakdown of the Pistol ur working on would be great. It's hard to find vids of some of these types of pistols being completely taken apart for refinish. I refinished my Firestar in coyote & the only vid I could find to help guide me was in Spanish & not filmed well. Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the good work!
A little while ago a bunch of surplus Jericho 941F's came into the country. Magnificent fireamr. Sadly, they're drying up before I get an opportunity to pick up a spare. Little bit more at around $320.
@@2aEdu they've got some kinda special sauce going on with that old IMI single action trigger with the glassy break and the short reset, the low bore axis, low slide mass and high grip position. You really have to go with a race gun to get something that fast and that naturally pointable. Shame they're so heavy and the slide serrations are so weird. Kinda wish they'd caught on better than they did, but I get why people like the lighter polymer framed for something that gets carried more than it gets shot.
JG Sales? Solid company and great to deal with. Classic? No freaking way. Star BM? Amazingly good little pistol. Accurate. Easy shooting. Sadly, there are no leather holsters for these. I made myself one lol. This thing brought me into leather working. Mags are sometimes expensive. With a dremel and needle files, Sig 225 mags can be converted.
@@2aEdu I've seen those. The flap style? Very nice and good quality! EDC? not so much for me. I made a pancake style. 15* cant. I like the "snap" of the retention. No fan of kydex at all. too hard on the finish. My finish was very good but the officer who carried mine enjoyed resting the web of his hand on the back. Perfect outline where the blue was gone lol. Kinda funny. I ended up rust bluing it as a project. Came out very nice. This was one of the best purchases I've ever made. LOVE this pistol. This was to replace my smith shield my daughter took from me on her 21st birthday (a gift). I need to get the updated link for mine. That is the only weak point i've ever heard about these. An engineering error. then again, I dont think they ever thought these would go to an american putting hundreds more rounds through them lol. My bore is pristine and the trigger superb!
You can get a Taurus G2 or the newer G3 for under $200. They aren't milsurp pistols, or single action. Both are double action, and you can get either single or double stacked magazines. Good little budget guns.
10:33 Star or Astra makes a copy of that with bogus stamps on it. The easiest way to tell the difference is the Star/Astra copy has the button mag release at the bottom of the trigger guard rather than the top like typical Walthers and Walther Clones and in its place is a Sig style slide-release. www.hungariae.com/Hege66.htm Some good info on it. My experience; the Star/Astra copies usually have the slidestop broken. The slidestop seems to be made of too cheap of metal and is the weakest point of the entire gun. The ammo I used was Winchester Whitebox w/ 71gr bullet and brass case. The gun always failed to extract, sometimes tearing the case rim
Your #10 - Zastava M88a is still a current production pistol. They are available with a C&R license due to the fact that it uses a lot of the same design as the M57 Tokarov, but in 9*19mm rather than 7.62*25mm. It was used for a short time with the Yugoslavian military but was replaced by the Cz 99 which has a larger magazine capacity. I was surprised that the CZ-82 did not make your list, but agree that most of them are gone from the easier to find web sites. Not sure what they were going for at the end of availability, but I got mine for $179.00 from J&G a while back. 9mm Mak and a simple blow back recoil system, it is unique in that its has NO RIFLING in the barrel, using an odd barrel cut process that produces a polygonal bore that imparts the stabilizing spin to the projectile while reducing projectile deformity and reducing barrel friction.
Neither the M88 or M88a are C&R eligible. I have a C&R and have bought three M88as (basically a shortened M70A) and three or four M70as from different sellers. Never sold as a C&R by a dealer. If someone sells one as a C&R they doing so illegally. First made in 1988, the M88 won't be C&R eligible until 2038. Zastava is now selling the M88a in the US directly, bypassing distributors, MSRP $349. I was finally able to get parts for my M88a that has been a paperweight for two years, from Zastava USA. US distributors could only get a limited range of parts for them, if they could get parts at all. I paid $200 or less for all of my M88as and M70as. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zastava_M88 The fact that the CZ82 is C&R eligible was a quirk, based on an unusual set of circumstances. I have three of them. The CZ82 is the best deal for C&R holders who are lefties, since it is ambidextrous. I have four P64s and keep one on my bedside table. I really like them. Love the loaded round indicator. Polish Irons grips make them very manageable. Not drop safe, so carrying with the safety off is risky. Not seen one under $200 for quite a while.
The Beretta if similar to my .380 is an amazing gun. It just fits perfectly in the hand. I never owned a .32 but it seems odd that the .32 holds 12 in the mag where the .380 is 13. Anyway, great video and advice on surp pistols.
Great video! This is my new favorite channel. I have 3 if the Stars, one looks new! I'm looking for a Super B to go with them. Also, after watching this video, guess I'm getting a Baretta 81 and maybe a 51. Keep these videos coming, and have a great new year!
Thanks man. Glad to have you here. I also like the star pistols. I do like the Beretta 81 a lot too. I also have a star super b, and a WW2 star b. I should show them in a video too someday. I will do my best to keep them coming. You have a great new year too.
Yo the star super B is a good pistol as I used to own one. A sexy lady she was. But just a heads up, she definitely is not as reliable as the other models. Dont get me wrong, its quality made. But that's more of the fact that the Super B is originally chambered in 9mm Largo. Now if you find the later models, it will be engraved just normal 9mm. But even then, Star didn't actually build the pistols accustomed to 9mm just by looking at the mags itself. Hence why I got so many malfunctions with double feed or failure to feed. Its a shame. Now if this is just for collectors firearm with the semi occasional shooting then go for it. But for home defense or conceal carry...not good. The Star BM is a MUCH better gun for that utility. I've owned the BM too trust me lol. But that's just my two cents!
I picked up a Zastava M70-1 today and my hammer follows my slide back with I rack her back. I’ve seen a few people on here saying the same thing about their weapons. Do you know what the cause could be and how to fix this issue.
Solar Flare I bought one of those from Classic and it’s a beauty. Only downside is the magazines are pretty expensive when you can find them. Shoots like a .22, no recoil.
My father owned a star 9mm with pearl handle grips very good gun remember to use 9mm parabellum ammunition.

Tell QD he's a goof ball.
an amazing goof ball. We love your channel, and thanks for the anjelas beautiful bit.
Thank you! He left a couple comments on my most recent YT stream which appears he is mad. I'm sorry. I was trying to have fun.
Watching this a year later and seeing all these guns being sold for double the price, I hope he cashed in.
Cool. Thank you. 👍 I'm glad you liked the video.
I'm glad you liked the video but you "dont usually learn anything"? I dont wanna call you out or insult you but, what part of youtube do you frequent?
Yeah, and salaries were about $100 per week. Everything is relative.
Mary A aaaaaahhhh THE GOOD OLE DAYS, THANKS DEMS FOR RUINING AMERICA
What was minimum wage in the 1960s? How many hours did the average person had to work to make $20 to purchase a gun?
You are welcome . Thank you!. Yes I did the same thing. I have 4 of these Bm 9mm pistols. Got them all cheap. I really think they are underrated too.
Only thing I don’t like about them is they don’t feed jhp reliably but are great pieces of history and are good shooters
@@supermoon1430 I have not tried hp in my Stars yet. I should try some though.
Happy New year to you and yours too.
Mark DiSilvestro just picked up an m57! Those guns are awesome!
@@MichaelMichael-iz1jq
I don't understand why some call the Tokarevs ugly.
Love these videos. No one else seems to appreciate old milsurp pistols like this guy
I do love these old pistols! Thank you.
Enjoy your video so where can I get one
I love my p64 pretty sure it was brand new when I got it was-is in excellent condition I've ran about 10 boxes thru it with no malfunctions and dang good accuracy built very well
I agree. It is a very well made gun. Beautiful in fact!
I just got 2 of them for about $15
JG sales has a lot of parts. I was surprised what they offer.
@@turns-jt7te I’ll check them out. Thanks. 👍🏻
I've been on a gun vid binge for the last few hours and this has to be the best video I've watched! Damn good job please keep them coming.
Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. 👍
@@2aEdu Didn't like it loved it lol. Probably got me in trouble with the lady though haha shopping for some milsurp pistols now.
I like the military surplus pistols! They get discounted based on their price but if you look a little closer or under a different light. Those very same guns if they were manufactured today in the US they would be more than $600. I say that because the frame is all machined and not made of polymer. Machining always adds significant price.
Yes. I have said this myself many times. 👍
I used to have a m88a and it was one of the best and most reliable gun ive ever had
Hay l'm a new subscriber but from what I saw you are really thorough and precise instructions, and demonstration of said weapons. I really appreciate that. Hope you do more videos on these items but also revolver handgun as well. Keep up the great work
Thank you!
My first foray into milsurp is the Zastava M70 pistol, in part because of this video and because they are all over GunBroker. Got mine for $190. But... How in the world do I find another mag for this gun??? Can't find it anywhere.
CZ70 is one of my favorites of all time. It's such a cool firearm!
I got one with my gun. I looked for one but if I remember right it was almost as much as the gun. Never looked to see if anything else might fit.
every time i get on youtube i find more of your great information
Thanks man. I do have a lot of content on this channel.
@@2aEdu your always welcome I support the ones I believe in and are like minded
Cool 👍
Hey man, just came by your channel by chance. I am a milsurp long gun junky, but like these as well. Not a big fan of .32acp, but can appreciate the quality of these pistols. Love the TT 7.62x25. Going to check out the channel.
Hey. Glad you found my channel. I have milsurp long gun vids on here too. I am also a huge fan of all milsurps. More videos to come too. I enjoy shooting .32, but wouldnt use it for self defense. I love 7.62 Tokarev. Thanks. 👍
i bought a cheetah on ur recommendation , so happy i did what a great gun .
Cool. I'm glad you like it. I def like mine. 👍
Way way way back in the last century, I developed some serious love for almost all of these thanks to the Surplus newsstand magazines.
I hear you. I started in 1994. Good times back then. 👍
Have 8 of these. Most are pretty decent for what I thought they would be. Somthing different than alot of the standard American firearms. Great video! Keep up the good work!
Cool! These are fun to shoot and collect. I agree. Thank you. I will do my best.
The baretta is a great choice. I carry mine as a backup. Shoots like a dream! The star is good also. The star PD in 45 acp was a cool little firearm.
I love shooting my Beretta 81. So smooth and almost no recoil. Love the Star pistols too. 👍
I just enjoy your enthusiasm as you talk about all the guns, I have subscribed to your channel,, and hope it helps, keep up the good work.
Thank you. I appreciate it 👍
I have an excellent condition M57 with the original flat trigger and no frame safety. I got it from Classic with the bladed trigger and then they had original flat triggers for sale too. Dude, that thing is awesome!!! MY FAV!!!
I also bought a flat trigger to swap out my blade safety like you did. I love the M57. One of my favs for sure. 👍
I really need to get one if these. I don't have anything in 32. It's funny how much all of these look so similar. I love milsurp! Great video as always
I like shooting. 32 it is a fun little round, and currently cheaper than 9mm. Thank you.
Thanks.
Hell yea, keep up the great work bro. It’s a pleasure to support ya.
Thank you! I do appreciate your support. This channel costs me a lot of money. I use all support for the channel content.
Grabbed the 🌟 BM from a local shop just a little bit ago. Great buy
Cool 👍
@Eusie Short I just looked it up and it's actually Yugoslavia. Thanks for the correction, preciate that!
Happy New year brother God bless you and your family
Thank you. Happy New Year, and God Bless you and yours!
Cool. Good to have you here. I love the P64 too. It is small and fine workmanship and I agree it is not fun to shoot.
That polish p64 is friggin beautiful! Sounds like a great single action pull as well.
Yes it is a beauty, and the single action is very nice.
Wonderful video. Love the feel of these pistols, better than my G17. Agree 7.62 X 25 Tok great round.

With the stuff available, I could not imagine wanting these comblock antiques, but I can see the collector appeal.
Yeah, I like modern guns too. Especially for carry. But I love history and the different calibers of these pistols.
For all its warts, the P-64 is about the most compact 9mak/.380acp in captivity.
@@dbmail545 Very true. It is a compact pistol for sure.
2a Edu I’ve always wanted a tokarev
@@2aEdu
I have 2 actual Hi Powers, both T series.
(I'm avoiding the AKs, I don't need another $$ suck... lol)
I recently picked up a CZ70. I found it on gunbroker for $175. I was surprised how well it shoots.
Cool. Yeah I like shooting mine. The .32 is smooth too.
Zastava has really affordable weapons.
That’s why everyone in Serbia is armed.
The country makes sure the citizens can protect themselves.
I love Zastava / "Yugo" firearms. I own many. Very affordable here too.
Unlike england our legs are wide open
Bob Burn there everywhere mate if you interested message me
Ray Charles if I was in Canada I’d have a A.k n a A.r15 it’s easy to sneak them in through then us ediot
Zastava has been in the firearms' business for a long time for good reasons.
Yeah, that is a good reason to have them too. I like to collect these because of history etc.
Awesome Video.. Question for you On the Taurus G2 C you had a video on installing the lakeline threaded barrel. My question i recived mine today so what do i screw to the threaded barrel? i just recieved the Barrel thank you
1/2x28 9mm thread. If it is marked that it works for glock 9mm it is the same size. You can use a compensator, or thread protector, or muzzle break.
@@2aEdu thank you
I have the p64 radom Poland dated 1970
Nice 👍
I’ve wanted a Makarov for a long time, just haven’t pursued it. SOME of these are very intriguing though..
I wondered if one could have a dove tail cut in to one like the m88a . And possibly mod one drill and tap change out the front site? Something to consider.
I'm sure the right gunsmith could do it. I see what you are saying. 👍
Great informative video and great attitude! Had to subscribe thanks buddy
Awesome, thank you! I'm glad you liked the video.
glad i bought two star bm's while i could. at the gun shows i've seen them selling for a little more than i paid
Me too!
You definitely have good picks there.
Thanks!
GREAT WORK MATE .R YOU TELLING US SECOND HAND GUN PRICE OR UNUSED NEW ONE THANKS
Thank you. These are military/police surplus, used pistols.
Awesome shit!
i want one of the beratta 81 pistols but no money being disabled don't pay much.
very sweet pistols... love them all.
They are cool. None of us can afford them all. I get it. 👍
Thanks for this video! Great information!
Glad it was helpful! You are welcome.
Almost all P38s made during WW2 were almost certainly used ( or at least carried into battle) It is complicated, but hopefully I was able to help a little. lol
Thank you, I appreciate it.
I bought Turkish Mausers for $40 . Manufactured in the 40's. Rebarreled in the 60's. They were well used but certainly serviceable.
Great video man! I also love my star BM's I bought 3. I wish I did a video but I completely stripped, re-blued, and restored one. Came out beautiful.
Thank you. I really like the Star BM. Sounds like yours is a nice one. 👍
CZ-82 double action autoloader, 9x18mak
Yes. Indeed. But wasn't avail for 200 or less in 2019 so it didnt make this video.( think a broken/cracked grip offering was avail at Jgsales for about 200, but it didnt quite make my list because the complete ones are certainly over 200 nowadays) I am going to do a video on Czech guns soon.
Great video man! Definitely want to get one of those bm9s after that review
Thank you. I really like the Bm 9.
Love my Star. Bought it for less than 200 now its over 500.
Nice!
Yes, those are good ones too. 👍
I did a video showing a Spanish factory leather holster for the BM 9mm.
My bore is pristine and the trigger superb!
love the hat bro!
👍 Thank you!
Love this video got me to get my m70 and chase others. But hurts to watch it and hear those prices
Thank you.it hurts me too. Trust me 😒
Wonder if any of these are now available in January 2021? Don't think so.
On gunbroker, but for higher prices unfortunately.
excellent review. happy to be new subscriber. keep them coming.
Thank you. I'm glad you liked the video. 👍I will do my best. Good to have you here.
You can get a Taurus G2 or the newer G3 for under $200. They aren't milsurp pistols, or single action. Both are double action, and you can get either single or double stacked magazines. Good little budget guns.
Search my channel for top 5 budget modern pistols. You might like it.
Nice Video-thanks! I am sure by the end of 2020 they will go up!
Thanks and you are welcome. I have no doubt they will. Classic has some of these right now though.
I paid $200 or less for all of my M88as and M70as.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zastava_M88
The fact that the CZ82 is C&R eligible was a quirk, based on an unusual set of circumstances.
Is there a 5 or 6 shot 9mm about the size of an M&P Bodyguard?
The Ruger LC9 is pretty small.
Excellent video!
Thank you!
2022 September now these are drying up I'm digging up at shows local shops for makarov/tokarev like potato chips cant stop at one lol
Nice vid dude
Thank you. 👍
@@2aEdu you welcome b
Last year I bought four Star BM’s I’m very glad I did.
Nice! I bought a few myself.
I picked up a Zastava M70-1 today and my hammer follows my slide back with I rack her back. I’ve seen a few people on here saying the same thing about their weapons. Do you know what the cause could be and how to fix this issue.
Make sure all of the oil or cosmoline is out of it. Internally too
@@2aEdu will do. I’ll keep you posted and hopefully I can get this resolved. She’s a sweet little pistol.
President wow awesome surplus pistol under $200 .00 dollars is great wholesale fantastic that pistol excellent 👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
The Beretta cheetahs are awesome but the magazines are expensive!
Yes they are awesome. And mags are expensive. 😦
Agreed. I have not found one I didn’t like nor one that wasn’t practical.
That Beretta in .32 ACP. 😎
I love the model 81.
Solar Flare I bought one of those from Classic and it’s a beauty. Only downside is the magazines are pretty expensive when you can find them. Shoots like a .22, no recoil.
Hello, good pistol review-- first gun I have is CZ50 from classic, also
Barretta 81.Last is star bm 9mm all are good pistols.
You are welcome. These are cool guns. The 81 is so comfortable to shoot.
CZ-50. supposedly able to fire anything you can jam into the chamber. Id love to try it out
It is a nice little shooter. Low recoil, and I haven't had it jam yet.
Thanks for the video. Happy New Year.
No prob. I hope you liked it. Happy New Year!
I have a mak and I don't like the mag release there is not speed reload with that
true. the heel release is not as fast. The combloc focused on retaining the mag so, it works with their manual of arms they used.
@@2aEdu if it had the upper release it would be the best conceal carry 9 you could find but as is not optimal
9mm Tokarevs! I'm finally interested in a Tokarev...
Heck yeah. It is nice too.
under 200 my ass. the only tokerev 9mm I see are 350 bucks
What’s up with the triangle with 66 on your right hand side? I’m new to the channel
It is the Norinco factory 66 proof mark that was found of Chinese AKs, Tokarevs , etc...Look up Chinese /Norinco Factory 66. I am a big AK fan.
I have 2 P64s. I call them "The Twins". They are very easy to bump fire with just the finger.
Nice. lol. Sounds like fun!
The tt33 was my fav in this video
👍 I love the Tokarev too.
