@computerheadquarters don't forget about the time ge encouraged people to buy GPUs right before the prices fell, outright LYING that there would be scarcity coming. In fact some people were able to get refunds. Jay is a liar and a EVGA shill. In general techtubers are scumbags.
I'd be shocked If the 7900xtx goes up. Amd doesn't artificially adjust market stock like nvidia if anything it'll go down in January with the 4080 super.
Scalping happened before bots with shoes. The bots are just a new way of doing it. If your buying a lot of anything with the sole purpose to resale it at a higher price you are a scalper especially if said product is limited. It's not a crime it's Supply and Demand.
@@andrebenoit404 do you think its likely for bestbuy/nvidia to restock the founder's edition? not counting on any AIB's at this point since from rumors it seems like they moved all of their stock to China to profit
You can do whatever you want, but I'm speculating the prices will go up so you should buy now. I could be wrong. You could also just buy another card, like say a 7900 XTX, which i think is a better value.
The 4080 is the most overstocked Nvidia GPU in years, the 7900XTX and 7900XT are out selling Nvidia in that segment. Anyone that are buying Nvidia at this point is making a huge misstake, The lack of Vram is going to kill performance for all these 12gb cards in about 1-2 years. 16 GB vram is going to me minimum for high-ultra settings.
Do you have any data to back up your claims? I'm not so confident about your statement that 7900 series is outselling nvidia in "that segment." I mean that segment would be high end, so that would be 7900 XT and XTX are outselling 4080 and 4090? I dont think that's true personally. I tried looking up statistics per video card sales on google and was not able to find anything. However looking at data from Tomshardware, wccftech, and PCGamer that has come to light over the past 3-4 months, it looks like Nvidia still holds 80%+ market share and AMD/Intel the rest....so i think it's pretty safe to say that your statement is false. I think what maybe you wanted to say is that you are rooting for AMD, which is fine. I suppose I probably am too...But i'm also rooting for Nvidia and Intel because i want strong competition which brings better products and prices to consumers.
@computerheadquarters actually came out that that a well known repair shop is getting on average 25 melted cards a week. It's much more wide spread than nvidia wants people to know they should recall.
@@computerheadquartersAs much as I love and support tech tubers like Games Nexus; I can assure you that the 4090's melting is NOT from ppl magically forgetting how to plug things in. There are several other small tech tuber shops who do repairs on the 4090's and they are still getting them in quite regularly. The fact that Nvidia had to do a redesign of the plug from +H to ++H and new PSU's w/ 3.1 are coming out to counter the issue says a lot about the poor design choice by Nvidia. Imo anyone w/ a 4090 should drop the power limit to 80-90% and slap a few thermal sensors on the plug to monitor temps. This should be enough of a safty net to keep your gpu alive.
Why would someone need to have their head examined for wanting to buy the best video card on the market? Everyone has a different situation. For some people PC buildling, upgrading etc is a big hobby. Why is it worse to spend $1500+ on a video card that is your hobby compared to say golf clubs, gundam action figures, pokemon cards, etc?

So what should I do if I want to buy a 4090? I have all of the other parts for my build but not sure what to do at this point
Wait for prices to come down. Even if you have to wait for second hand ones in a year or two. Alternatively go for a different card.
