Without a doubt I was decent at finding tactics but I lacked the positional understanding. Danya helped me understand having a good positional grip will allow tactics and provoke your opponent to play some rash move
Whenever I watch Danya's videos, I put 2 notebooks on the table; one for chess notes and the other one for new vocabulary (well, English is my second language). He is astonishingly articulate and has got a wide range of vocab. I think he would've been a great university professor :)
Danya: brilliant and overwhelming attacking pawnstorm me: crippling my kingside defenses Danya's pawn structure: devastating Maroczy bind creating a vice grip on the center my pawn structure: opening gaping holes in my position Danya's bishop: buttressing key central pawns; eyeing long diagonals that will open in the endgame my bishop: biting on granite Danya's attack: vicious tactical blow leading to unstoppable checkmate my attack: wildly ambitious and unsound piece sacrifices
It's been a while since I've watched some chess videos. Last night I lost my 13 yo dog and while I'm coping with grief I decided to watch more chess content for distraction and comfort, and for some reason I just had to choose Danya's channel. He has this sort of calm, nice vibe that makes me feel like I could grieve in peace while I learn some quality chess. Like when you're having a bad time back in school and you have that one teacher that makes your day better because they're nice to you.
It's incredible how this video starts the same as the titled: "Controlling Dark Squares | Sicilian, Accelerated Dragon | Top Theory Speedrun | GM Naroditsky", both videos are one of the most amazing displays of chess mastery and teaching I've seen.
Great video as always Danya! My 2000 online rating would’ve been impossible without your amazing content over the years and im still learning new stuff from each of your uploads ❤
15:57 this made me so happy, I was analyzing the closed Sicilian a few days ago and saw this idea, I even showed it to my dad 😂 Thank you for being so instructive with your content
You are so lucky you have people to share the ideas I played my first double brilliant rook and queen sac to mate with 2 bishops . Showed it to my dad , he was like yea nice and moved on . The excitement I had turned into sadness 😂
This is the video I've been waiting for. I played my first successful Sicilian defense the other day, then the next time I tried it, I got crushed by an Alapin. Looking to expand my competency with this opening.
The one in the video was a Delayed Alapin, though. Danya even calls it a misnomer in relation to regular Alapin. In fact, I play it myself as White and am inclined to agree with him.
Play e6 d5 against alapin you get them out of their comfort Or play d5 immediately so when you capture back with queen white cannot develop their knight with tempo and you can always get your queen out by checking the king
I have been playing sccilian for quite a long time This video helped me understand the intricacies of sccilian. Everyday i come and watch this video before playing I
At 50:30, also a nice example of sequence of moves. Doing the queen side move first does not win, but doing the king side moves first and then the queen side wins a piece. Thanks for another great video, as usual.
I do not understand how danya remembers all the lines and he has intuition levels in tricks and tactics.More than all he is a best teacher and communicates very clearly.good job Daniel 👌❤️
You'll excuse me Danya, but I've already tried the recurring phrase in the comments section: "Wake Up, Babe, Danya posted a new video! The only (and last) time I tried, she woke up in a terrible mood, and still sleepy she asked me: "Who the hell is Danya?" From then on, I will continue to follow your videos without telling her anything, it's better...😂
great vid - really wanted to see Danya go into the Taimanov-type line with e6 in the first game when he was deciding between e6 and g6… been practicing a bunch of e6 myself lately and would love some tips
It looks so simple, when i listen to Daniel, when he asks the right questions, its easy to answer, but it is difficult to find those right questions to ask, while playing.
By far my favorite chess RUclipsr, most instructional and most likeable - just the right amount of autism to be relatable for me haha- I like Levy too, he's funny and instructional, Hikaru is adorable but it's too hard to follow all his 5x speed non-explanations... Just my 2cents
After bulldozing my opponent on the light squares today, with Danya’s first Sicilian game in my mind, ‘man discrimination based on color is some sweet stuff’
Danya: "Wow, surprised we are still seeing so many sidelines and no one is going for the open Sicilian" Also Danya: *Never plays the open sicilian in videos and always recommends anti-sicilians*
Hey danya and community, I am a growing chess player currently rated low 1800 and I’m wondering if you would recommend game analysis through the engine or by trying to find my own mistakes, as you do in these videos? Any opinions would be helpful.
On the second game: Why Bd2 early if you move it again anyway? d2 is passive anyway. Could do Nc6 instead, which was also played later, and keep bishop flexibility and maybe save a tempo. What did I miss?
I’m not really a fan of the Najdorf, it just seems so much more complex and theory-heavy than the Accelerated Dragon. Playing d6 also means you don’t get d5 against something like the delayed Alapin. I think it would be much more beginner-friendly to switch back to a more simple variation
The Speedrun series has been of great help. I finally managed to reach 2000 chessc*m rapids and these videos accompanied me since ±1000. Thank you so much.
I only listened to a few of his videos a few months ago, but he was and is definitely going through a struggle. Not really much random viewers can do but I’m rooting for him. Maybe he’ll find a good cope he can enjoy in a society that’s reaching its end. There are great prospects for the future though. A new world out of the ashes of this one. Maybe he’ll make it there.
Hey brother 👋🏻 tell me which opening is best for white i play Italian but lose the game 😢 suggest me opening for Black and white my rating is 1200 elo i stucked in this rating
Danya: "simple game!" "We did nothing in this game to cause you any surprise..." Also Danya: Leaves king in the middle of the board, plays h6, g5, allows Bxf4 doubling his pawns... Good luck beginners!
It's still a simple game. Chess strategy makes it make sense, something people tend to ignore or not prioritize because they think learning a ton of opening lines is the way to improve at these levels.
@@musical_lolu4811 I'm just saying, beginners watching this won't find it simple when they've been told to castle early, avoid allowing doubled pawns and pushing your pawns before you've got developed.
I noticed in both King's indian, caro kann, and even sicilian you give up the light square bishop for the knight often, and wouldn't you know it I have must more comfortable positions.
You know it's gonna be a long video when Danya opens up with "welcome to...probly a short speedrun episode"
Lol
You know the match is not over when Danya says "Ok, last one".

I love the Kopec system. Looks like an abomination of a move and nobody is prepared for it, but it has lead to so many great attacking games for me.
Where'd you pick up the theory for this system? Danya's mentioning is the first time I hear about the Kopec, and it looks intriguing
Excellent

Was thinking to add sicilian back into my repetoire, so this is perfect.

When the world needed him most, he uploaded.
Can you make a video with the nimzo-indian?

Same. I have a tournament tomorrow and even watching him play an opponent 800 lower than myself is an educational experience
