In the long history of music, there has never been a collection of iconic singers performing together like this. Let me add a little bit to your tears. This song was made to raise money for food for Ethiopia. Back then, they were going through a horrible famine. People were dying on the streets. Every penny out of the sales of that record went to relief efforts for Ethiopians. Not one penny went into their pockets.

This song if proof, that you can take amazing singers from different genres, different singing styles, different vocal abilities, different music abilities, different backgrounds, different races, different levels of success, & more than likely different points of view, yet when put together, for a cause that is dear to their hearts, there is absolutely *NO* difference whatsoever!!! 💗 **THIS SONG IS PURE MAGIC, & STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS** 💗

  • @elodie2404

"We Are The World" is my national anthem. What it says, what it represents to me, all those superstars, with all their physical and vocal differences, all their different styles, joining all their hearts as one to sing that message, it means so much to me.
I LOVE the way Michael Jackson was and sang in those years (between Thriller and Bad), with his beautiful face and clear, crystalline and high-pitched voice !!! And I lived the 80's ... I was a little teenager then, and it was a so fun and beautiful decade, a decade where you can feel freedom and complicity in the air, a very romantic, creative and colourful decade ... I never felt it again later : neither in the 90's, neither in the 2000's, neither in the 2010's and nor in that early 2020's. Everyone who lived the 80's and remember them knows that what I say is true. Seeing that video clip reminds me the 80's. The smiles on those faces, the strength of their optimism, this was the 80's. I miss them. Oh God, how much I miss them.

It is the same for the 90's (January 1, 1991) ... To tell the truth, factually, the 80's spirit was still there until the mid 90's, then it completely disappeared.

This was recorded a couple of months after Bob Geldof`s Do they know it`s Christmas (inspired by Bob watching a news report on the 1984 famine in Ethiopia) by the supergroup Band Aid which I prefer (a lot of bias here) because I knew Bob Geldof at the time of recording spending a lot of time chatting with him (through my work at the time) perhaps give that one a listen too some time even if you don`t do a reaction video. Although USA for Africa sold more copies it was Band Aid that had the bigger impact followed by the massive Live Aid concert in London 1985 where the group Queen gave (as voted for) the world recognised greatest live performance of all time.
