It’s weird growing up in privilege and plenty. You learn there are people in far away places Seriously suffering and you hate it. It’s inconceivable to you. But you’re lost as to what to do. So you go on living your life because what else can you do. I remember when this came out. It did serve to wake us up- not to what was happening - but that we can actually do something. It just is never enough. The inequalities and injustices in this world are heart-breaking. I am glad that I have a belief in a better world to come where Justice and love will be the rule.
No autotune. No mumbling. Real talent. Real vocals. Solid lyrics!!!!
Beautiful song writing by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie
composed by Quincy Jones
@@TheKeystoneChannel we don’t care
@@mrs.jackson5872 someone’s mad, must suck being a negative piece of nothing…. 😂😭
@@TheKeystoneChannel Lionel Richie wrote the frase "we are the world, we are the children".. the rest of the song was composed by Michael. He told that in a deposition..
@@TheKeystoneChannel produced not composed.
No matter how many times I hear this song it always lifts my heart! Thank you so much and you two are INCREDIBLE! Love from California USA!
Now this is a cool thing to see someone actually from Africa reacting to this. This did a lot to collect money for the starving folks in Africa.
I think the youth today can learn from this.Instead of destruction and hate.join hands and make a positive contribution.
It was for the famine in Ethiopia that woke up the World.
@@kimmib1987 omg best comment you made..absolutely..
@@victoriakawesa3558 : Broke the heart of the world, as well. To this day, it remains some of the most heart breaking images I've ever seen. I suspect you can still, get a lot of the footage over RUclips here.
Warmest Wishes. Be Well and Safe. Out. 🙂🖐🏼
The organization created through this initiative still exists today and hasn't stopped giving help to African countries since its creation.
After all these years..I can’t hear this song or watch the video without crying. 💕
Same here!
This song was made to raise money for the food crisis in Ethiopia in 1984
Michael Jackson wrote this & Quincy Jones is directing. He told them to leave their egos at the door. Never again a greater number of superstars together!!! Love this. Thank you.
There was a sign saying, "Leave your egos at the door. Those who don't will be driven home by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles."
Bonjour merci beaucoup
@@rtm27 Are you sure about that last part there? I remember the ”leave your egos at the door” part of the sign posted but.......if it did say Stevie and Ray would be driving them home, that was savage. 😆
@@Msboochie2 Upon entering the recording studio, the musicians were greeted by a sign pinned to the door that read, "Please check your egos at the door." They were also greeted by Stevie Wonder, who proclaimed that if the recording was not completed in one take, he and Ray Charles, two blind men, would drive everybody home. From Wikipedia.
No, this was a 75% Michael jackson and Lionel Richie had other writers credits.
I love how when people hear Michael's purity in his voice they start to smile. This is the most influential song in history!!!
No question about it, even 37 years later!
MJ was walking auto tune… literally out of this world almost godly
This is literally, lightning in a bottle. You will never assemble this talent again at one time . I grew up watching this. I think this was around 1983. This is probably the most under-appreciated song in history
Fue a inicios de 1985
Quality of styles, quality of voices, quality of artists. It was an excellent decision for a goal full of humanism. Thank you, MJ and L R.
Hello my fellow Africans! I am from South Africa and this song pulled the world together for a short time and in the most wonderful way. I still believe we live on the most beautiful continent on earth...love to you both!
The land where civilization began...
Since I am white and you neglected us, F*ck You. Have a nice day.
there should be no racism, we are all God's children. this song is just as important today , even more so. Great video!

thanks for the copy paste
Forever MJ 💙❤️😍 ✌️
RIP Micheal 🙏🙏🙏
He's rotting in hell because all the boys he raped. He settled out of court to all the parents that pimped out their sons at Neverland. He fled the country as his fortune dwindled. Oh how they fall from grace!
I was 15 when this came out in 85. All legends!! If I remember correctly, they made this song because of the famine in Africa. Amazing Amazing song!!
More mj please
This 1984 recording was inspired by British bands coming together in 1983 to record "Do They Know It's Christmas?" under the name Band-Aid. A beautiful, moving song! Please check it out! Both recordings, in addition to the Live Aid concerts, raised millions of dollars for East African famine relief.
As someone who's musical taste during my childhood was largely influenced by the music of the '80's this & do they know it's Christmas by Band-Aid we're two of my absolute favorite songs .
It also inspired Farm Aid, done by country singers to help generational farms that were having a very difficult time and the banks were just taking their homes and farms. The government stood by, doing nothing, and in the end, corporate farms arose and this took a toll on the overall quality of farms and food. Small farms are trying to make a come back, but it really hurt this country in ways many didn't expect
Facts wrong: Do They Know it's Christmas? was right before Christmastime 1984. This song was the 2nd leg of the fundraising in Jan 1985 and of course Live Aid in July 1985, over 3 continents, huge festivals.
El año es 1985
Quincy Jones, the consummate producer - getting all these incredible singers in the same room and how this came together, is absolutely amazing...I OVERLOVE this song.
We are all here for our own unique experiences. Michael was ahead of his time in many aspects. We are all different colours, different races, different religions, it's so our experiences are different and unique to us, we all have different lessons to learn, we all look different only so we can recognise each other, on the other side we are souls and we recognise each other on a soul level we don't need human features there. That's what I believe. Michael was truly an enlightened soul, and he was here to teach us. Xx ❤️❤️🙏🏼❤️
Written by michael jackson and Leonel richie
all the proceeds from this song went to help famine in Africa. To this day it has raised over 100 million dollars
The beautiful thing about this is that each of those ppl were superstars at one time or another in different genres. They left their egos at the door to come together and raise money for another country.
Mj forever
Like Michael said: I‘m not gonna spend my Life being a colour!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can't count how many times I've heard this song but it gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it.
Africa is the cradle of the entire human race...love for Africa from Pennsylvania USA
Such a time for unity. I miss those days when we gathered to help one another.
MJ REY DEL POP HISTORIA DE LA MISICA FILANTROPO FANS DE MÉXICOOOOO 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
We're all cousins, brothers, and sisters. All we need is love, no matter where we come from.
Dionne's voice is so powerful. So that's where Whitney got it from! 😉
Steve arrives at 4:05. THE VOICE CHANGED UR SPIRIT SOMEHOW. I SAW IT.
ANGELIC VOICE FROM OUR FATHER. JESUS
Not a single person got paid for this from the electricians to the singers! Amazing peoole, one and all!
I was so blessed to have not only grown up listening to all these artists, but a teenager when this premiered here in America. There has never been anything like it and it made even us young people proactive in helping those in need. Got my parents to donate as well. Lovely reaction, you both are wonderful people. 🙏💖🌎
The song was a huge collaboration of many top artists. All proceeds made from this song (which sold over a million copies) went to aid Africa.
Just in case people are unaware and are interested, there is a making of USA for Africa documentary (just over an hour, lots of channels here on RUclips). It shows the commitment and hard work that went into creating this song . Highly recommend
United we stand, divided we fall.
❤THEY ALL WENT FROM GRAMMY AWARDS TO RECORD THIS FOR AFRICA..
I was a child when this song was created. It took me many years to understand the crisis that was occurring in the most beautiful part o f this planet . Yes racism is becoming less pervasive....but we all still have to fight for our brothers and sisters! I send my love! I will visit your beautiful place one day!
The most touching song ever made.
You have Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Steve Perry, Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and more, and you feel they are squeezin' their souls on every word and every verse...
It doesnt matter if you've listened a hundreds of times...always shakes to your very soul, what amazing combo of some of the greatest voices ever and these emotional melodies.
No matter how many times I see this I always cry it's of happiness. I can feel the love for all my brothers and sisters. We are of one the human race. Thank you for reacting to the best some of love and togetherness that was ever wrote. Peace and love from Memphis Tennessee USA.
Yeeeeeeessaa!!! I THINK thé same!!
From Argentinaaa!! 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷Thanks!!!
I was a teenager when this song was made: I did not realize back then that majority of them sang different types of Music like: R&B, Rock n' Roll, Country, Blues, Pop, Jazz, Punk and Caribbean
which shows the diversity of the American people
Pocas veces se juntan tantos artistas a colaborar sin egos y esta vez la hicieron sin dudar. Solo solidaridad, amor y empatia hacia los que no tienen nada.
Everyone of the singer in this video are music legends
Africa will always have a special place in my heart. I went to Kenya when I was 10, and loved it. Amazing people and amazing experience!
So sad how many are gone now: MJ, Ray Charles, a couple of the Pointer Sisters, Kenny Rogers among others. Lovely reaction, though. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone as emotional about it as you two. Just subscribed. ❤️
Quincy Jones put a note on the door for everyone to leave their egos outside the door
This song makes great awareness for less fortunate country, just because of this song, since 2019 I donate every year €50 to at least help them a little bit.
I was in middle school when this song came out and the message is as strong for me today as it was the. If these amazing singers can take ONE day and get together to record this song there is absolutely no reason not to help others.🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
10:02 I love Lionel Ritchie's "Thumbs Up."
This was at #1 when I was in high school... we were making it together then... ALL of us ... we have went from make a brighter day just "you and me" to 2022 make a brighter day just "you without me" 😔 so sad ... For All Of Us Now 🇺🇸 😢 😢
They raised more than $60 Million for Africa. There were 46 artists in all.
Everyone gets excited when they see Michael Jackson
I've listened to this song 4 times this evening, because of your post!!
It's such a great song! It reminds me of a better time!
When this song came out I was approximately 15/16 years old.
I had No idea what was happening in the World or why Africa needed help!
Even with my ignorance of the world landscape, this song impacted my life greatly!
The ironic thing is that, because this song was such a hit and is so well known for people of my generation, lots of people still associate famine with Ethiopea, even though it was resolved.
Que bello es recordar esta música que ya, nunca volverá..gracias por recordarla..saludos desde Perú
The wonderful 80s. I'm grateful to be there
A room full of people who were on top of the music world in 1985; literally everyone in there had a song/album at the top of the charts but they came together to do this. Powerful.
Most people like myself get emotional watching and hearing this... Thats when you know you've created something beautiful. These are all real true artists and they all sang with passion and love.. and you can feeeeeel it. Art at it's truest form right here. RIP to all these amazing legends and Art itself. and of course, Thank you Michael Jackson
I love this song. Thank you Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie
cuando en los 80" era un don cantar como los dioses...lastima que en este siglo 21 ya no estén estas voces,,,,grande los 80"...
One of the greatest songs of the 80s decade. The 80s was a great decade also a sad one. But I wouldn't change that I grew up in that decade it was my youth and I miss it so much. God bless yall.
I am blessed to be in that era. We need this now. More loving.......
I watched this when I was 10 years....the greatest artists together. Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote this song. Love when Michael/Diana ross sing...but my favourite is Springsteen/Stevie wonder part...and Ray Charles.....gave so much soul & funk.
I first heard this song when I was 15 years old. The song was written to raise money for famine in Africa. It is very powerful and transcends time. The world is getting so bad and the words of this song can help us all come together again in love and unity to be strong and fight against the evil forces both physical and spiritual. I am sending unconditional love to all who read this. I LOVE YOU ALL!!! XOXOXOXO
Girl watching the video is insanely beautiful
Even tho we know not one another we are all family....brothers and sisters and families are supposed to take care of one another 💗. Remember as a teen when they debuted this song I got shivers and cried Everytime....even today. The unfortunate side is when governments and groups for profit intervene and try to stamp goodness out with evil ...but stay strong because GOD will see us through 🌈🕊️
Watching the behind the scenes of this song there is a part in the video where it is said that all of the artists collectively said to each other we are leaving our egos at the door. I thought that was very cool.
When Ray Charles and Michael Jackson are there, you know it's gonna be a great song.
I loved the fact that they all donated there time to do this! All in one night I believe..? It's been a while since this came out, I was a teenager! Probably thee biggest collaboration of 1st rate talent in one song that means so much!!! What a beautiful message...
Desde criança me emociono ouvindo essa música.. só fera mano !
This amazing 💯
Do they know it's Christmas time started it all. I remember it coming out and thought wow their reminding us there is always one less fortunate then ourselves
USA for Africa was actually a part of a huge fund raising effort to help a lot of African Nations that had drought and famine causing starvation and death. I think it was very successful.
This is how the world 🌎 should be! No race, creed, colour of skin! Just as human!
There was no way Americans could stand by and watch those people in South Africa starve to death..we just didn't know what to do until this recording came out..100% of every purchase went directly to feeding them. We watched those innocent babies and children die of hunger before our very eyes. This was legendary.
As a young kid in school we learned this song, and I play this song all the time on any jukebox I find 🌍🌎🌏🌐
All these artist, was on the same radio stations. GREAT 80'S MUSIC...Black white green yellow I had a great childhood😍
In the long history of music, there has never been a collection of iconic singers performing together like this. This was a one time event that cannot be duplicated again in our lifetimes, nor in lifetimes to come...This is the performance that should be put in a time capsule to be savored by those who come after us.
Coming together we are stronger. Such a great collection of great performers.
“All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal.” John Steinbeck
Pray for America that we can find our unity love and peace between each other again. That people wake up to what's going on people trying to tear us apart by things that truly don't matter.
Every person in the video is a very famous person in America wanting to help Africa.
This song is timeless...
What a lovely song. I especially like it when Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen "chitchat" (and Dionne Warwick I just love her voice. ♥).
This song wasn't for the people !! It was for the Elite ,listen to the words!!! I was 17 when this song came out ,it was huge success but living in todays world and listening to it ,I don't have the same vision of the song
All the proceed from the sales of the record went to the wonderful nation of Africa and the sacrifice they made to come together to make the song, because all of them were musician and singing artists and had concerts, shows and interviews booked in the country, because all of them were popular in the 80's
This give people goosebumps on their arms❤
Two wonderful voices that should've been a part of this ensemble: Prince and Donna Summer
The Force that will ultimately bring Peace on Earth is.. Unconditional LOVE....and whether Ur rich or poor... U can ALWAYS GIVE... U CAN ALWAYS GIVE LOVE AWAY....Amen...

Amazingly beautifull Song that People should heed and remember each Year ! Nice heartfelt reactions.
What a powerful song, even now 38 years later. I remember when this came out and the world (at least, my known world) seemed to soften a bit. It didn't last long, but the message this song brought still lingers in the background and brings hope that we can ALL eventually come together for the betterment of everyone on this small spinning rock in the vast universe.
You guys are great!
A hug from Italy ❤️
Beautiful reaction! THE WORLD WOULD BE A better place if we ALL would work together!!
Michael makes everyone smile
