As someone who's musical taste during my childhood was largely influenced by the music of the '80's this & do they know it's Christmas by Band-Aid we're two of my absolute favorite songs .
It also inspired Farm Aid, done by country singers to help generational farms that were having a very difficult time and the banks were just taking their homes and farms. The government stood by, doing nothing, and in the end, corporate farms arose and this took a toll on the overall quality of farms and food. Small farms are trying to make a come back, but it really hurt this country in ways many didn't expect

We were doing better back then when it came to coming together more. There were problems, for sure. No doubt about it. But we were making much more progress than previous generations. Big strides were happening. Progress was increasing. Then something arrived and began to trash that progress that was made. Millennials and zoomers. Here are some facts about this song USA For Africa: -- This song and video has raised 75 million dollars since 1985 that went to Africans in need by delivering food, shelter and water to millions of Africans all throughout Africa. -- Even today in 2022 this song still earns royalty money which still goes to help African towns with the USA For Africa trucks and airplanes -- This video was recorded the same night after the Grammys Music Award Show in 1985 because all those stars were there that night for awards or to present awards -- The video shoot was from about 12am at night to after 4 am and the stars were very tired. But, they all stayed to make sure the song and video was made. -- The singers and actors that appeared on this video were some of the biggest singers of that time like Michael Jackson (his Thriller album had been out two years when this video was made). Also there was Bruce Springstein (seen at 8:41). I watched this when I was 10 years....the greatest artists together. Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote this song. Love when Michael/Diana ross sing...but my favourite is Springsteen/Stevie wonder part...and Ray Charles.....gave so much soul & funk.

We were doing better back then when it came to coming together more. There were problems, for sure. No doubt about it. But we were making much more progress than previous generations. Big strides were happening. Progress was increasing. Then something arrived and began to trash that progress that was made. Millennials and zoomers. They stoked fire and told groups that other groups hated them. Resentment grew where it was lessening. It’s now going to take generations just to get back to where we were during the time of this song. It’s heartbreaking to witness when you lived during the time of great improvement.

Here are some facts about this song USA For Africa:
-- This song and video has raised 75 million dollars since 1985 that went to Africans in need by delivering food, shelter and water to millions of Africans all throughout Africa.
-- Even today in 2022 this song still earns royalty money which still goes to help African towns with the USA For Africa trucks and airplanes
-- This video was recorded the same night after the Grammys Music Award Show in 1985 because all those stars were there that night for awards or to present awards
-- The video shoot was from about 12am at night to after 4 am and the stars were very tired. But, they all stayed to make sure the song and video was made.
-- The singers and actors that appeared on this video were some of the biggest singers of that time like Michael Jackson (his Thriller album had been out two years when this video was made). Also there was Bruce Springstein (seen at 8:41). His album from the year before in 1984 called Born In The USA was the biggest Rock album of that year and he was the number one Rock star at that time selling out stadiums all over the world. Also there was Bob Dylan (seen at 5:27). He almost never appeared in public. But, decided to do this song because he always sang songs about helping people socially. Bob was one of the first to have hit songs about social issues that were about helping others. The singer Prince was not there because he was extremely shy. But, all those are rumors and we may never know why she did not attend this video because at the time Madonna was only second in fame to Michael Jackson.

I first heard this song when I was 15 years old. The song was written to raise money for famine in Africa. It is very powerful and transcends time. The world is getting so bad and the words of this song can help us all come together again in love and unity to be strong and fight against the evil forces both physical and spiritual. What a powerful song, even now 38 years later. I remember when this came out and the world (at least, my known world) seemed to soften a bit. It didn't last long, but the message this song brought still lingers in the background and brings hope that we can ALL eventually come together for the betterment of everyone on this small spinning rock in the vast universe.

There was no way Americans could stand by and watch those people in South Africa starve to death..we just didn't know what to do until this recording came out..100% of every purchase went directly to feeding them. We watched those innocent babies and children die of hunger before our very eyes. This was legendary.
