I've been a big fan of llyan austria since this video pop up to my recommendation while im looking for laptop for architecture. Now llyan is a super relevant youtuber now in the philippines..
Hi Llyan! Thanks for the information. After 3 laptops usin them in university and work, I have some recomendations.
The better choice is a good PC at home for rendering and a lightwieght laptop (with a core i5 and a dedicated graphics card gtx 1050 it´s enough).
The laptop must have a dedicated graphic card, it will give the enough boost so it won´t be lagging while you are moving in autocad or other programs.
An screen of 15.6" it´s the sweet spot, less than dat the screen it´s uncorfortable and bigger than that it´s heavy and isn´t that much portable.
If you are gonna show your proyect to some client with your laptop, it isn´t cool the rgb lights (perhaps at 3am after your seventh cup of coffe while you listen some electronics beats...), the gaming laptops are not a good card of presentation with clients (there are some gaming laptops that are more "bored" looking..).
If you want to use programs like lumion that are graphics intense, you should check out the passmark score of the graphic card and compare with the information of the program that you are trying to use (for example, in my laptop I have a gtx 950m -it´s bad and crashy, I don´t recommend it- I can only use lumion 4.5 with a lot of limitations, but I can´t run lumion 5 or above because the passmark of the video card it´s low).
If you want to use a powerful gaming laptop, take in mind that you will need to plug the cord of the laptop soon, the battery runs out quickly! And you know, when you need to plug it, there isn´t space to do it because EVERYONE already connected their laptops!!...
Hi Llyan ! Thanks for the tips. I'm really interested in the lenovo P1 (i7-9750H, Quaddro T2000, 16Go RAM) for architectural renders. By the way, as a freshman architecture student we are doing far more hand drawing than CAD (we actually only draw😂). Keep up your work !

It's not on the list but I would like to recommend MSI GF65 Thin. Aside from being thin and lightweight, it's packed with i7 9th gen processor, 6gb GPU RTX2060, 16gb RAM upgradable to 64gb, and 1 TB SSD for only PHP 75k. It's THE beast.

for the UK homies: Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with i7-9750H, 16GB ram, 15.6" FHD anti-glare screen, Nvidia GTX 1650 card with dedicated 4GB, for the student price of less than £1000 with the unidays code. I haven't heard anyone talking about this laptop, but it's elegant AND powerful. Another safe option is the Dell G3 laptop, similar price and specs, but slighty better graphics card. Yet bulkier and gaming design, which might not be as attractive for some people.

I was gifted a Macbook at the beginning of my course which is great but iOS doesn't allow the most recent programs for quite a few software nor Revit 😭
Wish I had done my research before uni began, but not complaining - this was my first *new* laptop (after a second hand one which was old and slow) and I enjoy using it a lot!
Maybe one day I will get the first or last one on this list! 😍

@@undifinedsoul I have a macbook pro 2017 - but I've heard some 'horror stories' about partitioning the hard drive & that bootcamp instead makes the mac significantly slower!

We recently just bought Acer A315-41g - R5U3, and it's sad because we don't know much about laptop that time and ofcourse we need to consider our budget.
For now we're just planning to upgrade its ram for me to use autocad smoother.
Oh! I got the 1st one with bigger skrin... but without extra hard disk... so far is good...

Yay!!! I just bought Lenovo yoga c930 with super cheap discount price! I have p.c at home but need a laptop that easy to carry along with me! Good to know I have choose the right one! Hahahah

I tried that one and had to return ASAP.
It couldn’t even run photoshop without lagging. Got really loud when charging. I’d recommend downloading all the softwares and see if you can multitask without the computer breaking.
After testing out like 5 laptops, I ended up getting the asus zenbook 15 which works amazing under pressure of lots of softwares
Erika Shaylitsa what’s the spec you have? Mine does have this problem and no sound while charging emmm. I’ve tried with revit(work on the heavy file I’ve had), adobe suit and render engine like enscape. I also tried with 3dsmax for some scene render and it seems no problem for me. The only things I concern is the battery, only 3-4hrs if working continuously

As a big computer nerd and arch student. Don't get a gaming laptop (any laptop with a gtx gpu) please get a laptop with a quadro gpu, The quadro line is made for rendering/ cad work. It works more efficiently and faster in these programs. Personally, I have the Lenovo Thinkpad P51, ill admit it isn't very attractive, and it's heavier than the others on his list. all of these laptops will probably get you through your first few years of school but when you get into 4th year/graduate years you will be needing a new, more powerful laptop.

I'm watching this in 2020, locked up in quarantine, with clases and everything online!!! I had to laugh with the laptop that doesn't have the web cam. I wish I didn't have one with half my classes, with the other half is a must!!! Architecture classes should not be online!! lol
