My understanding is that 1: in the first film she had a car accident in wet weather that killed their son. She then refused to acknowledge and grieve properly that then put a strain on their marriage however Gavin stood by her and tried to make it work. 2: in the second film they still had troubles but tried to work through it. Only for her to spring it on Gavin in front of everyone that she filed for divorce. He was not aware it was happening. 3: During their divorce meeting they both agreed to split everything down the middle only for Gavin to realise that she did not disclose the monetary assets for her books (which are written on their and their friends marriages) NOTE: now I'm not a lawyer and I don't know everything about the law but what I do know is even if you have not lived with a spouse for a long time YOU MUST disclose all properties and assets in a divorce. This was probably what caused Gavin's reaction everything up to this point was dictated by her. As such he said he would fight her about this. 3: Gavin gets drunk and then goes to their house berates her about her shut off emotions and burns one of their sons photos while throwing a drink on her hoping to generate a response. 4: this then leads to this where it escalated to her making a scene at her office. He tried to walk away and leave probably to not make it worse but in so doing it caused the car crash. To end the film with Gavin dying and therefore all assets staying with her and to top it off obviously going on a date with Dwayne Johnson it is poor writing at it does not show her owning her own mistakes and growing as a person. The film portrays her a happy ending. Really it should have just ended differently in my opinion
Totally agree. Always thought that was a dumb ending and poor Gavin, I don’t think it so much about taking her money. He wanted to force her to react, instead of just pushing everything under the rug as usual. They did him an injustice, and then she walks away with the Rock. I’m like, but she still hasn’t resolved her issues…??!!
@@ToniJ.O so true and I did not mean to imply it was just about the money I was just trying to point out that she gets the happy ending even though largely the events that led up the end of the film were caused by her and the film does not show her coming to terms in her part in everything oh well some films are good and some are bad best not dwell on it
A relationship that is based on narcissism and loneliness the relationship doesn't exist without love as the centerpiece in the middle the relationship isn't real and one whole big fat lie.
these comments are ridiculous. he steals her money, he abuses her, but he's right? he's allowed to grieve over their child's death, burn their child's photos, and still he's right? c'mon guys. sure, he might bring up some good points, but he was in the wrong the entire film.
No, she was plenty to blame. He tried to communicate and talk with her and fix things (watch the first movie) but she was too busy trying to be perfect. As he said later, "you can only fight someone when they're willing to get in the ring with you". She should have cared more about him and their marriage, and less about how she appeared and trying to be the perfect doctor. Eventually, Gavin just reached breaking point. I don't condone his later actions, but I can understand where it stemmed from. Patricia was very much to blame, as she instigated all the events that happened after.
I disagree, Gavin is right. He stayed in that marriage cos he loved her but i personally think she didn't, like he said "you tolerate me" its sad cos she wasted his life and time. Its like using someone then one day you just decide to drop them, its not ok. I think Gavin tried even though he had his own flaws while miss Patricia was trying to be perfect and she is the one with the problem. The one thing she tells people to do is what she failed to do in her own marriage which is to communicate🤞🤷♀️
@@phumi4801 no. You’re wrong. How in the hell does her wanting to be miss perfect equal to you getting drunk and pouring alcohol on the person you claim to love so much, then assaulting and sexually harassing her? Y’all sound stupid.
Gavin was right the whole time, why as a women and a doctor you would lay with someone for so long KNOWING!!! you don't want or love them. " You know I love you.." yeah if you really loved him you would have divorced him a long time ago. You know deep down in your heart that a relationship is going to last or not. That whole trying to make it work was just for her "well being", not his,and the fact that she won't add the money to the divorce was crazy she was already gone and finished with him.
that i will agree too. Because she wrote and she went on the book tours, plus she spent alot of hours writing and putting her thoughts and feelings into her book. So Patricia should apologize for embarrassing him and split the rest of the other bank accounts and savings. But overall the book money should be her's.
Nah she needs to split that down the middle. Marriage is marriage. There are plenty of instances where a man is the breadwinner and had assets he earned PRIOR to the marriage, yet during the divorce he has to split his assets he worked for before the marriage down the middle. How exactly is this any different? Most of her book success came during their marriage. I believe him as being her case study because as a husband, he was trying to help her success. The fact that she tried to completely disregard that account makes her outright selfish.
Didn't like Patricia in this movie. She blindsided Gavin with the divorce without telling him first. She writes her books solely on the retreats that she goes with Gavin and her friends so he's taking parts in her book writings and in the end of the movie she used him again in another one of her books. Embarrassed him at his job, she was just a mean bitch.
She's a complete narcissist and sociopath who suffers from superiority complex disorders and these personality traits is what is wrong with Janet Jackson and were she went wrong in the relationship.
And in the end she gets a happy ending all marital assets , the house , a new book with additional revenue and Dwayne the rock Johnson where is the justice in that
Abused her? She invalidated his feelings! As a wife/husband, you have to acknowledge what's important to your spouse. Obviously, if you're grieving over you and your spouse's child you'd expect to be comforted by your spouse EVENTUALLY. Yes, for some people, denial is in the process of grieving but obviously the "abuse" scene came after Gavin never received any validation at all. He grabbed her, did not hit her. Burning baby pictures was stupid but you can't ignore her selfishness.
Both handled everything wrong. I won't say that a man cannot feel the death of their child any less thsn a mother, but there is a bond a mother has with their child that is different. Plus since Patricia didn't buckle the baby in properly, the guilt adds on to the grief. Knowing her child is dead because of her carelessness, she would have been in no frame of mind to "comfort" her husband and be there for him. Knowing her as she is Gavin should have realized that too. Not only that, bit too a point Gavin had resented her for being so careless and causing Noah's death. But he really wanted to grieve together, Patricia didn't because her method of cooping was to just not address to problem (ironic since she's a psychologist), they REALLY should have since a marriage counselor. I can see where Patricia went wrong, telling her friends about the divorce without discussing it first with Gavin... but they were both wrong. Patricia was too full of pride to admit that they needed help and Gavin basically burned whatever Bridge was left to save their marriage, when he burned Noah's pictures. He really should have seen that Patricia had been holding everything in and was loosing control...
Nooooo... That was a whole other thing altogether. I think they pre-planned their whole marriage, child, even divorce. If she wanted to stick around beyond the agreement, they would make a new agreement, but it looks like she agreed to a lot, to just walk away silently and be extremely well compensated for the rest of her, her child and her entire family's lives. We don't hear a peep from her, she doesn't even try to act... She got paid off.
When he was earning, oh, that’s fair to split. When she earned? “That’s my money Gavin, I earned that 🥺” Fine. She keeps the $800k she earned. He keeps the properties and the $970k. Since her money is in her account, that money must have been his.
Sorry, but he is right... If she wrote that book while they were together, he was there supporting her, talking with her, helping creating the environment for her to write. It's crazy for him to think he should get NOTHING from her book sales. Half is a starting point for negotiation... He should expect 20-30%
I mean while in divorce, you split everything 50/50. Not matter who’s money it is right? Like a women always get 50/50 of men’s property even tho she didn’t earn dime of it. So it’s fair for him to take the split of 50/50 of HER money
its not about this particular film. besides he wouldnt have done any of that in the first place , if janet didnt leave him on the side. all the man wanted was to feel important. he wanted to know that she really did love him, but because she didnt it lead to depression, which lead to the envents that happened. to top it she's withholding money from the man that he did help with. he just wanted to half it. he would have left silently if she did
then he should devalidate her backl. the violence is a clear sign of turning friend to enemy. the relationship is over. She took it out on her furniture, destroying her own house which would cost her.

Perry's film have weary endings. Good storylines[most 10/10] but the endings are messed up[mostly 2/10]
You saved me 2 hours of time. Glad didn't watch it
I agreed with everything you stated... But a typical TP movie ending... Majority of the times and she lives happily ever after.
i swear when i look at janet i think of micheal she has everything from him. Stay strong janet and family.

Funny if ots the other way round where husband earns
That money they entitled
For half of that !

Gavin had a point right here. Pat shouldn't have mentioned that divorce in front of all them. She was out of line for that.
