Fun fact: Araw-Gabi's composer Ryan Cayabyab wrote this song as a wedding gift for his wife. They gave records of this song as souvenirs for their wedding guests.Years later, they requested Regine Velasquez to cover it and it became a hit.

She has started her singing career since 1984. She was the grand winner of Bagong Kampeon during that year. She joined Asia Pacific Song Festival in 1988 which she was also hailed as the grand champion and since then, she became well known and catapulted as the 'Asia's Songbird' because of her belting ability. She is a lyric coloratura soprano.

I’ve watched Regine live 3 times in concert, each at least 2 hours long. Let me tell you. She kills it from beginning to end. It amazes me how she can sing so many difficult songs back to back and with so much power and passion. This is one of my favorite songs of hers because it’s a beautiful and simple love song. However, you really need to watch more of her to see her true vocal range and power.

She's now 51 and here in this video, she was 47 and also, in this video, Regine is suffering from severe acid reflux. She still has avid reflux now but it attacks Regine lesser. And she is having vocal lessons for her voice, for her placement to fit her condition and age. But oh my goodness, you should watch more of her. She's the Asia's Songbird, the Queen of our Music Industry and is the idol and inspiration of almost all singers of today like Morissette and Katrina. She's been in the industry for more than 35 years. Her belting is really effortlessly done, it's just that when she had acid reflux after giving birth, it affects her singing, but she can still belt effortlessly. And she doesn't have a hard time singing the low notes. The song Shine which Morissette sang on the Wish Bus is Regine's song also, at least it's her version, because the song became popular only when Regine Velasquez sang it and recorded it. You should watch her performances when she was younger and also her performances today. I recommend you watch her performance of What kind of fool am I in her 20th Anniversary Concert on 2006 wearing a red gown and her performance of All the Man that I need on SOP wearing a red dress. Also her performance of Shine in her Joy from Home Concert last June 2020 wherein she's 50 already. By the way, that song is also one of her signature songs, which is usually used as a Wedding Song. Thanks!

Her ultimate idol is Barbra Streisand. She even had a concert entitled "Songbird sings Streisand". I also recommend her "A Piece of Sky"( by Barbra Streisand)performance, wherein she's wearing a white gown, it's the highest version. Thank you!!! Lastly, her performance of And I am telling you in her Most Requested Concert on 2009 or 2010. This song was one of her winning songs. She sang this on Asia Pacific Singing contest 1989, and that's why she is called The Asia's Songbird. Thank you!

I am never mad at you when you heard fatigue in her voice. Every singer in the Philippines would agree on that even the Queen herself. She always mention that given her age. Also she would utter the words "it is no longer my time" but she is still singing and will always sing bc its her first love. Trivia, whenever a new singer has a concert and Regine is invited, she always do it for free ❤️

After giving birth with her son, she was diagnosed with acid reflux which really took her voice I would say. In an interview, if having a child would take over her career and voice, she would not mind it. She can still do it in her good days. We are not complaining and we will always support her!!!

@11:26 Hey... not a singer but when she sang the word “dalawa” (the Tagalog word for “two”), it makes sense that she would pronounce the syllable “wa” in dalawa like a schwa because it’s how its supposed to sound in Tagalog rather than pronounce the [a] in the syllable as [a] as in apple. She then changed the shape of her mouth and the vowel to extend the sound. It’s a language thing. :)

You didn't know that Filipino languages especially Tagalog and Bisaya are the best languages for singing. I am German guy but that's what I have noticed about it travelling all around the world. It's better than Italian Latin and French languages. It's really the bezt for singing. I always observe this happening espcially in chorale competitions. When a non-Filipino chorale group sings in a Filipino song, I always feel that that non-Filipino Choir always is much better than singing other languGes.

I remember back when I was in college, we had the privilege of doing a Christmas concert with Regine. We were singing A Christmas Carol, and I think it was the first time she saw the music sheet we were going to use for that night's concert. She was practicing in front of us and she was working on how she would do the high notes on "And enjoy the beauty, all the joy and beauty that a Merry Christmas can bring to you..." she tried a soft falsetto and she would stop, shake her head, then tried a different approach. In the end she decided to just use power and belted it out. We were sitting behind her all that time... and couldn't be more in awe of her.

As someone who has listened to her since she started back in the day, this is actually kind of her "party trick" what she does with her voice. She'll make the audience think she's struggling in the beginning and then pull some crazy stunts in the end. Kind of like vocal dynamics but using different placement as a way to progress in a song. Not very common in the west but surely worked for her from where I'm from :)

An interesting fact I learned about Filipinos that perhaps connects a lot to their singing culture-they actually have a huge poetry and song history! They would communicate regularly with poetry (they had a primarily oral tradition), and I know this especially applied in the island of Luzon. i think that a persons true character reflects in ones singing i seen some who sing terribly but knows how to deliver the message and i seen those who have a good voice but can't deliver anything.... compassion and a true heart does avail morissette what makes her so amazing is not just her singing but she is so in the moment and she connects with the song so well everything in her goes into it.. wither its a stage performance or even wishbus or just at home singing on a live stream on facebook or kumu app its like funny but when she is not singing she is so gullible somewhat a bit as some here in the states may say "goofy" she is really down to earth and she is spiritual human being but when she sings its as if she becomes a different person she is in character to the song she is singing she tells a story its so amazing...and that is especially to most of us makes her so special in singing i hardly see that in other performers and there times she thinks more about those who support her than her own self... before she performed in a concert in dubai she lost her voice but what she do? she goes on stage and told the audience and apologized and said " ill do the best i can" SHE DID NOT CANCEL she felt that the people went through the trouble of going to see her and she going to perform regardless.... that is the kind of performer she is ruclips.net/video/75pwJefts6Q/видео.html shows her professionalism as a performer

Im so obsessed with your technical reactions. Lovettt. Yeah you’re absolutely right, that video was 4 years ago and it was evident that she was aging by her huskiness at times. No worries as shes fully aware and vocal about that. She even admitted that she now experiences fatigue and really puts an effort in a hard song unlike back in the days when she could add one more night to her usual 2-night concertS. During her prime younger years, you’d never hear huskiness or any gesture of vocal fatigue. She was always effortless, crystal clear like a laser beam. This her singing the same song back in the days ruclips.net/video/iJY5VJryYmw/видео.html
And there’s many more! 😁 Keep it up guys, your reaction and inputs are spot-on.

Check out her performance of Sometime Somewhere, the one where she’s wearing a yellow dress and her performance of Papa Can You hear Me where she has a bob cut singing on a staircase outside the Philippine Museum. I think these two are the most perfect I heard Regine sing. Regine tends to have vocal mannerisms not considered as proper in singing but it is what it is. I believe it has to do with Perhaps lack of formal vocal training and the language she sings in. Those are her own colors as you mentioned. And getting older, she has to constrict a lot of notes to keep them from blowing off. But this song particularly has very short notes and combined with Tagalog make it really not suitable for unconstricted notes. She would sound like a foreigner singing the song if she tried to free the notes and that’s just not the way Tagalog sounds. Having said that, I like that you didn’t hold back. You are on pint with your analysis.

Wow guys I'm so in love with your technical reaction! Regine is regarded as the gold standard of singing in PH and she is also easily the best selling artist of all time in the country. This particular performance you've reacted is quite recent. She's already in her 50's here. She has a condition called Acid Reflux when she reached 40 y/o that's why she tends to have a raspy/scratchy sound when she challenges her vocals on the belting part. Regine has been a singer since she was 19 y/o and her peak prime is around 1999-2002. It's a must for you to react to her performance from she was in her prime. I'd highly suggest "Piece of Sky".

If you notice the first part of the song there was a hold back of the voice because the song is supposed to be sung that way. The person is at first holding back or containing his feelings for a certain person
Then at the middle to the end of the song, the feelings is being blurted out.hence the build up of the song

EXPRESSIONS!!! I hope these teachers also teach how to express songs not just the technical coz when you sing in advanced level in which expressions are now involved, those basic technical aspects in singing no longer is applicable. So what they thought as a flaw is not really a flaw but a part of the expression.
