@@tyerker I might entertain that argument, except for the fact that Yamaha instruments are well lacquered… I’ve owned and played several silver and/or brass trombones since the 1970s, with minimal adverse effects from my biological contact. Through those decades, I’ve played many hot, sweaty, outdoor, commercial gigs with touring bands. Outside of marching bands in my youth, I’ve never found any value in wearing gloves when handling an instrument. Perhaps, one should simply clean one’s instrument, occasionally. If the instrument is unlacquered, perhaps the fear is discoloration of the player’s hands… Gloves are like those silly cloth Covid masks. Unless you’re washing them, every time you take them off, it’s just theater… the cloth is contaminated and no longer serving its purpose, as soon as you use it for a minute. Last time I checked, only cheap, imported asian instruments shipped with those useless cloth gloves.

What’s with the gloves?
likely just to prevent sweat and oils from wearing on the instrument
@@leoanddonovan2633nice try, but that kind of nonsense would be totally unnecessary, with a Yamaha flugel.
I think he misses his glory days in dci/marching band
@@popinmid the brand has nothing to do with it. If you have acidic oils or sweat, they will eventually affect silver.
