the Mininons are the immortal workforce employed by the evil genius Felonious Gru in his comically large underground lair that's about all you really need to know, i suggest only watching the first 2 Despicable Me-s since the 3rd falls off quality wise

I recommend the first Despicable Me movie, maybe the sequels, but not the Minions movie. They’re amusing side characters, they have their funny moments, but it was a terrible idea to think they could hold an entire movie up by themselves. The actual Despicable Me movies, especially the first one, are pretty good and have great writing to them. Like I said, highly recommend it.
