- From the 1997 Broadway production of Jekyll & Hyde. Robert Cuccioli and Christiane Noll perform "Take Me As I Am". Like my clips?? Check out my radio station, Sho-Toonz, at www.live365.com...
I think this is my favourite love duet for a musical, it sounds like a couple who are already deeply in love and understand each other, instead of a couple falling in love like most. Also it's the man who is the most vulnerable in this song, and the woman doing the reassuring, a nice role reversal.
My sentiments exactly! I get the same impression. I was lucky enough to see Bob and Christiane perform this song live at Miss Linda's J&H reunion concert last year. I met them after the show. They are all incredibly kind people, in addition to being top-notch performers.
my girlfriend loves this musical, she turned me onto it. Our song is actualy Dangerous Game lol fits us very well
I live to see Henry and Emma hugging so tenderly omg
The gesture when he kisses her hand at the end just tears my heart.
Love you, Robert. :)
Half of my brain is ranting about how pretty the song is.
The other half is ranting about how much I want that dress.
I know this is 8 years old but I gotta say, me too. As man I would love to have a wardrobe like Henry's.
After I watched Dangerous Game, I watched this and it blew my mind to see the same man all clean cut, gentle, and lovely!
Effortless! Christiane has such a clean pure sound. A voice like an angel's.
The way these two act makes the love between these characters seem so real.
Woah, a recent comment? Hello fellow traveler
My husband and I had this song sung as a duet at our wedding during the unity candle lighting.
A criminally underrated song. So gorgeous
I love this show. this song is amazing n they are both amazing. the show deserved more
There is no part of this song that I don't like, Every line's just perfect.
I love how he phrases the line, "Swear to me we'll never part!"
This woman's voice is stunning!
That sound mix is soo much friendlier than what they did with the hasselhoff recording.
This is so pretty. Christiane..so pretty! Love her.
It's very hard to sing this song without making it sound cheesy. Cuccioli pulls it off beautifully. Such a talented actor.
We sing this in choir... Emma's part still gives me shivers :)
Christiane's voice is beyond gorgeous. I can't fathom it all. My gosh.
she sounds like an angel omg so beautiful
@Jekyllandhydelover, I feel the same way! Even though Jekyll dies in the end, he still is just so adorable, handsome, and cute!!!!
This play has been my absolute favorite since I was lucky enough to see it in it's original run...Mr Cuccioli is just beyond compare...his voice always blows me away and this performance always brings me to tears...I would pay almost anything to get THIS cast on a full DVD and not in bits and pieces on RUclips...
Shallow comment of the day: what a beautiful dress.
WOW!!!! Christiane Noll is A-mazing!! I love how her voice is such a high sweet soprano. She's simply stunning.
These are the absolute perfect voices for this :D so much emotion
argh they should really kiss at the end!!!
this song is so gorgeous, and it reminds me of All I Ask Of You :-)
theyre phrasing and tone are magnificent... bravo
*Sigh* I saw this last night at Zilkha Hall in Houston and through this whole song all I could do was smile and be all teary-eyed. It was so sweet
this is so beautiful...the perfect duet
It's so awesome to be able to find footage of the OBC performing these songs! Thank you for posting them!
Noll's voice is absolutely beautiful!
Much better actors in this than in the Hoff version. I love Christiane Noll's voice, she is amazing.
My fav. of the play...Thought this would be a wonderful song to play at the wedding receptions..............
The lyric says it all. It´s amazing. This duo is perfect.
Massive chemistry. These 2 were amazing together
goshhhhhhhh their voices are just heavenly!
This is beautiful!!!
I love this always makes me cry!!!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. This better than the movie version with Hasselhoff. My favorite Emma and favorite Jekyll/Hyde.
This is an incredable show! Our Jekyll was ouststanding! I had the pleasure to play Emma.
He has a beautiful voice.
Christiane has such a gorgeous voice. So beautiful!
great performance
I heard this today when my school performed this musical for a drama competition. I am hooked.

Amazing duet!
This play has been my absolute favorite since I was lucky enough to see it in it's original run...Mr Cuccioli is just beyond compare...his voice always blows me away and this performance always brings me to tears...I would pay almost anything to get THIS cast on a full DVD and not in bits and pieces on RUclips...
and who are the 4 morons disliking this??? Are you kidding me????
Thank God you did these! I was afraid all we had of the production on film were of Asseloff.
(I worked on the show on Broadway) (Hasselhoff was not popular with anyone there)
Oh goodness, Cuccioli is infinitely better than the Hoff; I don't particularly like the Hoff either, I don't find him to be fit for the character at all.
+laracorsets Who was the most popular?
if i wasn't smiling while listening to this song, i swear, my mouth would be hanging open, drooling. :D
You know who I am. Take me as I am
It's beautiful
This song is amazing...
so beautiful *tear
I agree. He is just a guy who wanted to be in the show and had the means to do it. Why the heck not? lol. Clearly there are "Better" people.. i dont think Hoff ever professed to be the best, he just wanted to perform. Its not a competition. We can watch and listen to what we want, and skip what we dont. Anyway, this video is amazing! Thanks for uploading!
I’m here because I’m so curious who sang this song originally.. love it.. but I just love how Regine and Martin sang this beautiful song😊
you should search this on youtube :)
Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez - Broadway Musical Medley
I did.. 2019 rip.. Replay button
apparently Robert Cucciolis version wasnt good enough to be filmed and put on dvd... but the hoff! now theres a perfor....... Cuccioli needs to bring this back to broadway
I love Christiane noll!
Could you please, please, PLEASE post Cuccioli's version of "Confrontation," if you've got it?
Amazing
I wish I was Emma when this took place.... :)
Me too!
the concept album was superb when i saw it on Broadway I was disappointed.
I love this performance, vocally it's amazing. I definitely would make some different blocking choices. Wildhorn's Scarlet Pimpernel has such epic duets, that the characters just stand and emote to each other. This song is almost as powerful, and requires less movement. That "turn" that Christiane does is so cheesy.
Colin Smith Which turn? The one right before the key change in the middle of the song, or the turn at the beginning when she sings “Too late now to turn away?”
Jessica Zeller the first one at the beginning.
I still remain a little conflicted on Jekyll & Hyde. Even when I saw it on Broadway with the great Robert Evan, it somehow seemed to go a little flat, in spite of the sheer number of incredible songs. I think that it may have been due the extremely "sparse" staging, especially when compared to lush setting of it's nearest competitor, "Phantom of the Opera." I would have loved to see it with a bigger budget and better production values in this regard.
I caught J&H right after the incredible Linda Eder ("Lucy") left the show, leaving Luba Mason with the unenviable task of replacing her. Eder was so powerful in the role that the producers were seriously thinking of wrapping the entire production, but Mason filled her shoes very well indeed, in part due to her superior acting skills.
I know this is a year old, but if you were underwhelmed by the broadway production (same tbh), check out the pre broadway 1995 tour, there’s a bootleg on RUclips. It’s brilliant IMO, and I have no idea why the dumbed it down so much for broadway. Everything was 1000% cooler on the tour

Ok, I'll check it out.
CHristiane noll has SUCH a pretty voice. it's the definition of sweet/pretty.
Yay original cast!
4 years.
Is there any more of these? I wish they could make a pro shot of Once Upon A Dream (: That's one of my other favorite songs .
cb south jekyll and hyde look it up on youtube they did a great version of this
For me, it wasn't the singing that turned me off to...Hoff (rhyme unintended), but rather the acting. It just seemed to be less interesting. Just my opinion though. He didn't do all that bad.
I like this Emma much better than Hasselhof's Emma :p
amazig
WGM with Eunjung and Jangwoo brought me here :)
amen on that broadwayactor94
There are tens of thousands that loved the job Hoff did in this play and check on U-tube and his whole play is there where thousands have enjoyed the job he did...So on this there are less then a hundred that rather then say something about this beautiful video need to needlessly rag on Hoff....
that
made
me
laugh
the
part
about
u
telling
him
hes
hot
haha
Check out MARTIN NIEVERA & REGINE VELASQUEZ broadway medley (version).
I wish I was Emma, too!
Does anyone have the entire show (and not the Hoff's one pls) with Bob Cuccioli?
I wrote to wish him happy birthday last month and he wrote back! I told him I still think he's hot etc coz I never expected him to reply but now that he did, I'm a little embarrassed, lol. But it's all good. He's such a sweet sweet man. Love you Bob!
I think you mean 'singing contest;' 'singing fight' would sound like the two performers were after each other's throats :P
Wow, people, cool it about Hoff. He wasn't bad, he just isn't as talented a singer as Rob. It's not like he claimed to be better! So be a bit tolerant and let's all enjoy this great song, no matter who it's sung by.
Exactly. Hoff was the more famous and could sing well enough to take advantage of that. The purpose was about making money, not (bizarrely) about producing the best musical from a critical standpoint.
this is beautiful! much better than the hasslehoff version, but anthony warlowe is still my fave jekyll/hyde.
I think I like the version I have on CD better haha.
how the hell did that ass clown as you all affectionately refer to as "the Hoff" get that job????? Robert kills it...*sigh* he's so beautiful. Very understated but that's what the character needs. His intentional limited movement and almost robotic like actions create a dark but affectionate character. Bravo
There is no other voice like Christiane's. None.
@beautifullybroken012 I think it's supposed to be gold hehe :D x
his voice reminds me of..um, one of the guys that sings in the Les Miserables in the 10th anniversary..he says "it's better than an opera" to Marius when he tells the gang he's in love..0_o
Poet2916 the guy your talking about is Hadley Fraser.
the amazing Anthony Crivello (who was also Phantom in 'Phantom' in Las Vegas; also in 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' on Broadway)
@Poet2916 that would be grantaire... I believe...
@Aventura459 That dress is orange.
Only it's NOT how you are, is it, Dr. Jekyll? There's another you lurking somewhere close, isn't there?
Can I watch this in full somewhere?
The one with THIS cast? Not the hoff cast
Take me as I am...Sadly...So..So...easier said then done.
where'd this vid come from? was this show filmed
@broadwayactor94 hahaha. Indeed. Still don't understand why they thought it might be a good idea to cast mr Knight Rider as Jekyll/Hyde. It just hurts hearing/seeing him destroy such wonderful characters
Money was the reason they cast Hoff. He must have auditioned and once they learned he could sing well enough to do the job, they decided to bet their money on him rather than a professional singer who was unknown. In case you weren't aware, Baywatch (Hoff's most famous TV show) was (and maybe still is) the most popular TV programme ever made, broadcast to a global audience of multi-millions. Many fans of his would be sure to come to see him live and many others would come just out of curiosity to hear if he can really sing.
I have no idea if their gamble paid off. As far as I know, the musical bombed.
