I have a bush pilot friend in Alaska who had to walk miles around a lake (in brown bear country) because his plane sailed to the other side in strong winds. Oh, and he was soaking wet, because he initially tried to swim after it. It's always something.
Thanks for your video and I just subscribed. The coastal scenery is very impressive along Pacific Columbia. Answering commentators questions would be appreciated.
Hello from a Brit living in Canada for a year! Thanks for sharing an amazing experience. I have a UK PPL but we only have a handful of float planes registered in the UK. It’s unlikely I’ll ever get the chance to fly one so your content is helpful in satisfying my craving! Keep up the good work. 🇨🇦🇬🇧
If you ever have the opportunity to fly the West Coast of Haida Gwaii, I highly recommend it. It’s truly unbelievable and very few people get to experience it!
One of my earliest flying memories was from Porcher Island near Prince Rupert about 1965. My father rigged an anchor with two ropes, and balanced it on the float of his C172. Pushed the plane off shore then tugged on the anchor so it fell off the float, thus holding the plane in deeper water. Pulled on the shore line when it was time to leave, thus dragging the anchor to shore. Ok for a gentle breeze, but not recommended for a strong wind. I've used the same technique with a boat. I am guessing your location was somewhere around Port McNeill? I did not recognize it.
@@PaulHodgson-gm6lg Corrosion is "your" friend, that's one of the benefits to keep you working. Commercial float planes flying coastal, hardly ever get rinsed, only when it rains, and that's most of the time 😂🇨🇦
Keep it up! I tell everyone I can about your channel. We need more aviation content like this!
