*Found this through a RUclips video **enjoyable.fishing** recommend does exactly what its meant to do. Very durable and no hang-ups at all surprisingly*
Thanks for breaking that all down for those of us just considering this hobby. That was a great overall picture of how to get started without making stupid choices.
Great video! I just got into the lure making game. Do it molds has there essential series molds and they cost $42 a mold. It's a way to get into a few more molds for a little less and they work well. Getting good clamps is also key to keep your molds closed tightly.
YO IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO MAKE THIS HOPING IT WOULD HAPPEN THANKS!!! IVE BEEN THINKING BOUT USING WHAT YOU’VE TAUGHT/SHOWED US TO START A BUSINESS
Another great video. I might add though that Lurecraft has a " build your own pouring kit" in which you can choose 13 colors and or glitters and get a 20% discount. I ran with that when I started and again the next couple of visits to the store. A relatively inexpensive way to build up materials to shoot or pour plastics. By the way, I've only been making plastics a few months and I got into it well under 500 bucks. Since then, welll...... a second injector, 5 more cnc molds, blending block...... for me getting started was the cheap part! Lol! Keep up the great videos and may your line always be tight.
Man Chris your videos are so jam packed with info! You have absolutely been a huge inspiration for me to feel like I can and am going to try it myself. Thanks.
Thank you for your videos , I really enjoy watching them because you are very technical and informative and you really enjoy what you do... Please keep sending vidoes
Your story is like mine, but never took it that far you have a talent and a great eye for making baits, I know you have a child and it’s hard but family comes first man!. Iam disabled and it’s just me and my wife now so I have the time to make baits but I do not know how to do media so that is my down side . I love fishing I have cought some good fish on my own baits but they were your standard colors but I put my own twist on them! I would like to thank you for your out standing videos you are truly a bad ass!!!
Thanks Chris, great video,a lot of good advice. I think you are doing an awesome job. You didn’t have to do this but I really appreciate it!!! Keep casting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you either post links to the all the products you use or link the old video where you did previously? RUclips makes it hard to do keyword searches if you don't have the tags on the videos. Thanks again for a great video.
Great advise, I just got started and wish I had some of this advise before I got started. If you are getting started listen to Chris he knows his stuff. Don't go cheap! CNC aluminum won't really break so they will last you!
Another great thing to mention would be the do it molds starter series starter kits, 80 and 200 dollars for plastisol, colorant, flake, bags, injector, and gloves!!!
The 500 dollar mark is funny. That was what I set aside to start myself. I also combed forums and got quite a few used molds. Thanks for a great series
I'm a senior citizen. I buy soft baits from Bass Pro Shops. I will probably die before I use up $500 worth of soft baits. If you lose a bunch of $10 to $15 crankbaits, then it may make sense to make your own crankbaits. But with soft swimbaits, craws and worms being so cheap, your return on investment will be rather poor.
Thank you for this video! Just the content I have been looking for. A little more entry level from your bait making business video. Although that content is invaluable also. You're experienced advice has helped tremendously. Especially knowing to start with "simple" injection molds and still being able to get into hand pouring as an additional option within the $500 budget margin. Thanks again. Love the channel!
Thanks for the video. Great advice, I got some cheap stone molds and cheaper injector when I started and it ended up being a waste of money. In the process now of getting my LLC, website and other social media things in order so I can get a little small business going. Maybe it can help pay for my bait making/fishing addiction! Thanks again!
Thanks, I made the investment using AI molds. I got a 2.5 grub and 4.5 bloodline. The only injector I could get was a 6oz from do-it. Since I am in Australia it cost me almost $200 in shipping by the time I got everything. Excellent advice!
Awesome video that breaks it down I know you got me thinking 💭 on getting another hobby jumpin off. Thanks again for all the informative videos cheers 🍻 bud.
Thanks so much for your content! I've been in a bit of a rutt lately not knowing what to do with my time when I'm not working or fishing and youve definitely peaked my interested with the injection game and I may start looking into buying myself a set up! Until then expect am order from me sir! And thank you again for peaking my interest in this craft!
I started with around 60 dollars I bought 1 small pot a Pyrex cup and a silicone mold maker i just superglued already existing soft plastic baits to a old tupper ware container and poured the silicone over them then once it cooled melted down old soft plastics over a small fire and then poured the baits just to see if I enjoyed it
New subscriber here. Love your videos. I'm considering getting into bait making and just doing my research. Your videos have been a great help. We have a lot less options in Australia. Shipping from USA might even make it cost prohibitive
thanks for this video as im really looking into doing this. question, id like to make a purchase of the trick worm mold and was wondering if the "Mid MAG 6.25" Worm Flat Bottom Mold 2 Piece" is the mold you are referring to in this video or the worm that you made? not sure if im just being thrown off by the mid mag portion but this is all i found that closely resembles the trick worm.
i think that just remelting old plastics is the cheapest but also with plastisol and colorants and glitter you can do more. I am just starting and remelting has done me well
Would it be possible to do a top 5 or 10 molds everyone needs? I'd rather jump in with 1k and get several options. Maybe a top 15 colors for pigment and flakes to give the best combos?
I want to ask this question I'm about out of medium blend plastic from lurecraft so I put softener and salt in my baits I'm going to move to dead on plastics and I only make senkos right now but should I stick with a medium blend and continue to put salt and softener or should I just get the worm blend? Thank you I wish I would have had this video when I started wish I could do over and get better stuff than what I did and played it smarter.
My question is, probably harder to answer than I’m assuming, but let’s say per cup of plastisol, how many molds can you make? And for this let’s just say the 5” stick worm. Would it be like 3-4 molds? Or more like 1-2? I’ve looked online at molds but it didn’t say how many oz the mold is, or maybe I just missed it, thanks for the answer in advanced, if you answer lol
worm bags can be bought at clear bags...custom printed worm bags like the ones I have come from china by the thousands and cost thousands of dollars to get.
they are a different type of mold, not milled the same way from aluminum as the higher quality molds..that is my understanding based on others testimony. They will produce a duller bait from what ive seen.
Question.. Do you know of any place that sells the creme midjit scoundrel worm mold?? And do you know how they might get that 2 tone linear color effect. In the natural color???
Great video man! I’m a trout fisherman and I’m looking into making my own mini jig (mini tubes) I don’t know what Plastisol to get. I know to get a wood block and get some rods and dip into my blend and then let them dry and then cut then throw in water. Where can I get the rods at? And which type of plastisol? Also can I buy any glitter or flakes at walmart?
I started with stone injection molds to see if this was something I would enjoy doing. They are cheap so I was able to get a small variety of baits to try out. They last a while if taken care of just don't drop them.
Fantastic vid, if one would want a custom injection mold made where would I need to look/contact as in Australia if I wanted to match the hatch as it were some of the critters/bugs are different from over the waters in the USA. (also happy 4th July).
Very informational and great vid. I’ve always thought about making my own lures, I think it would be super cool. But I subbed because I look forward to more awesome content. Keep it up man! 👍🏻
I had a question, do your fans both blow away from your microwave or does one blow towards the microwave? I have a problem with my fans blowing my glitter out of my spoon.

You should do a video on glitter size and when to use what size for what applications.

try the worm blend or finesse blend...then see which one you prefer..salt doesnt make them softer...it only makes the weaker and sink more.

What do you sell your baits on
Hi Chris,
Do all molds have the same sized injector hole?
Eg :will just one injector be good if i buy 2/3 different molds please
Where did you say the hand pour molds were located.
Stankx Baits, Lurecraft, Mooseridge Molds.....just look around
Do you have a link to purchase that worm mold?
Where can you get that exact plastisol
So if I'm going to buy something at all, it will have to be the essential series sand casted molds. Are they quality?
They will get the job done
