- This video was taken as I walked around the Jimi Hendrix Memorial at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington. (June 27, 2007) His parents and other relatives are also buried there.

The pleasure was mine. Bonnie Fitzgerald did the funeral service and the stone design and I donated the funds. Both of us were volunteers who were not part of the family, thank heavens.
I always have that on my mind day by day. One thing I know that Jimi was breaking new grounds into the jazz fusion movement (you can hear this on "South Saturn Delta"). Mahavishnu Orchestra is one band that kept that tradition going after his death. I still wish he was alive though. I wish others would keep his vision alive. Thanks for this video man. Someday I would love to visit this site and lay flowers and picks down for Jimi.
Yes, it's almost impossible to know how Jimi would have influenced music through the '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s and today!

Yes, he is buried there. However, this is not the original resting place. At the time of his death, he was laid to rest in a plot in the southeast quadrant of the cemetery. After the memorial was completed, his body was relocated to the memorial in the early morning hours of the day before what would have been his 60th birthday (moved 11/26/2003).
Also, the headstone from the original resting place has been incorporated into the granite base at the memorial.
Unfortunately, Jimi's Mother is not buried here. She is buried nearby and until recently she only had a brick as a marker. Jimi's half brother, Leon, recently put a proper marker for her. Janie, Jimi's step sister apparently doesn'r feel his own mother is worthy of being buried beside her son. Leon has also been excluded from this "Family" plot. What a shame. Rest in peace my friend.
It's a very quiet place. I would imagine Jimi's spirit would come out to play if he heard something.
BTW, Buddy Miles passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26th 2008 (yesterday as I write this). He was only 60 yrs old.

Not close at all. I talked with Al Hendrix (dad) a few times at the gravesite on special days and worked with Leon (brother) for a few months to get the memorial for Lucille done. Somebody had to honor Jimi's mother. At my last Jimi concert, he looked at our section of seating and said 'Don't forget to stand when it is your turn to stand' and then played Vodoo Child. When Jimi speaks, I listen.
In the middle of the video, Enrique (jimicolors) inserted pictures that I sent to him, as well as shots of "rubbings" that I made of the grave markers (etc). This was my gift to Enrique in return for his inspiration...for me to get out my junk and play again. Please watch it again.

I this true? I know that Leon and Janie have been suing each other for years. It's also my understanding that Leon has had his fair share of problems but recieves $0.00 from the the Hendrix estate which is controled by Janie. I saw Leon's MySpace and it once had pictures of a ceremony that took place for the marker for his mother...it's beautiful. It's very difficult to get the real story regarding Jimi over these past 37 years. If you are truly soley responsible for her marker THANK YOU!!!!

It's a very peaceful memorial...quite a contrast to Jimi playing live. =)

I believe that is correct. He is buried under the center of the dome.

Leon and Janie were too cheap to buy the grave stone for Jimi's mom, so I did. Fifty million from Jimi's work and they can't treat his mom with respect.
