this is my favorite weeknd album. i know a lot of his longtime fans didn’t take well to it but the dark, techno, party music came at the right time for me
if you’re into interesting production you really have to run through childish gambino’s “big 3” albums: because the internet, awaken my love and 3.15.20. it’s such an interesting and deep walk through the mind of one of the most creative people in the industry right now

@@jacoblake5418 i love camp, don’t get me wrong, and i’m not saying 3.15.20 is objectively better or anything but i do find it more interesting from a creative standpoint. i find camp a bit more cookie-cutter, if that makes sense. 3.15.20 is understandably polarizing but i’ve never heard anything like it, for better or worse depending on how you feel about it

Starboy was THE album that turned me onto to loving The Weeknd. I already knew who he was prior to this album due to Can’t Feel My Face’s popularity. But there was something about this album that made be like, “Yep. I’m on board now.”. There’s a good mix of everything I need an album to have: heavy, depressing beats and upbeat dance songs. My favorites from this album are: Starboy, Party Monster, Six Feet Under and Die For You.
I was the same as you :D the first song I have listened from his was Can't feel my face and I loved it and then he released Starboy and instantly became his fan 🥰

Just a suggestion, could you react to some of the Weeknd's singles and features in one video? I'd love to see some reactions of those gems. For example, nomads, enemy, trust issues, king of the fall, pray for me, lost in the fire, drunk in Love, etc. Not many people have reacted to this stuff, which is a shame.
I think it’s because the unreleased songs are not on Spotify, so the original RUclips creators can copyright it, or RUclips just doesn’t let you post it.

Starboy is my favorite Weeknd album 💫. & it’s 4 the darker, trap inspired records 🌑. I understand those records not being 4 you, because of your relatability on those topics. But as a person in the industry in these party/club environments, you’d hear a “Reminder” or a “Sidewalks” way before you’d hear a “Die For You”. It’s a beautiful record, just not 4 the strippers 😩❌. But it does speak to the artistry of The Weeknd. 4 the ability 2 make a album that caters to both demographics ☯️. Where as you’ll playlist the album to remove all the trap records, I’ll playlist the album to remove all the love records 😭. But this is a dope reaction 🤘🏽. You’re a beautiful woman 😍. & it’s definitely prayers up 4 continued success 4sure 🙏🏽💸🌌.

Thank you for reviewing this! So where you're a little off Shelby is when you said that BBTM didn't have a cohesive theme. It definitely did have a flowing theme throughout. Starboy is actually the album that did not have a cohesive theme. The Weeknd even said himself that Starboy was the album that he just focused on making hits and wasn't really putting together a close-knit set of tracks. Relisten to BBTM, there is a bit of a story that hes telling. That being said, enjoyed your video!
I can 100% enjoy this album! Its great! However, its definitely my least favorite project of his.
Thanks for the comment! When I talked about theme, I guess I should have clarified better that I meant music wise, not lyrically. So like in BBTM, the music style/genre sounded very different from track to track, but on this album, the sound of the music was extremely consistent.

Easy to listen to kind of album. I don't think it requires an in depth analysis like some of his other work but he did a good job hiding some dark and emotional lines in the sound of the album

I think most fans would say this album has a “safe” sound if that makes sense. A lot of songs you’d hear when shopping at the mall like Rockin, Secrets, Love to Lay, etc. It definitely has special tracks like both Daft Punk features, Kendrick’s feature, False Alarm, and Die For You. And imo even his weakest songs (Rockin, Six Feet Under) are still at least 8/10
You should react to some live MJ or underrated MJ songs. For live MJ you should see Yokohama 1987 such an insane concert with amazing vocals. Also his live performance at the Grammy’s 1988 is incredible! There’s lots of MJ to check out😄
With the album My Dear Melancholy because it has only 6 songs can you add a top 10 the weekend songs that u liked,I think it would be the perfect way to end the journey so far! Please please please🥺
